В дипломной работе рассматривается методика обучения лексике с культурным компонентом учеников в средней спецшколе. В работе дается понятие лексики с культурным компонентом, трудности и способы обучения лексике с культурным компонентом, и положение обучения лексике с культурным компонентом в спецшколе. При обучении лексике с культурным компонентом используются разные способы, такие как: перевод, наглядные приёмы, системный лингвострановедческий комментарий, коннотативный лингвострановедческий комментарий, приём обучающей дополнительности зрительного и вербального рядов. В работе изложены результат опроса об обучении лексике с культурным компонентом, и предварительная оценка положения обучения лексике с культурным компонентом в спецшколе.

现代汉语形容词使动用法及汉译越方法研究 (NGHIÊN CỨU VỀ CÁCH DÙNG SỬ ĐỘNG CỦA TÍNH TỪ TRONG TIẾNG HÁN HIỆN ĐẠI VÀ PHƯƠNG PHÁP DỊCH HÁN - VIỆT)


现代汉语形容词使动用法至今是汉语语法的一种特殊现象。它不仅让语言更加生动而且还给读者一种兴趣。本论文的主要内容是研究现代汉语形容词使动用法在语法、语义、语用三方面的具体特点。从此本人对汉语形容词使动用法与越南语的相对应表达方式进行比较,找出两者的异同之处。

为了找出现代汉语形容词使动用法汉译越的翻译规律,本人已经进行一项实际考察。从此本人已经找出现代汉语形容词使动用法汉译越的过程中翻 译者通常遇到的一些难点。在这些难点下,本论文就提出了一些翻译方法。希望这些翻译规律与方法能为汉语翻译者在把形容词使动用法翻译成越南语的时候做出一份小小贡献。

但不管怎么翻译,翻译者一定要遵守翻译原则与标准,保证翻译的“信、达、雅”三标准才能算是成功。

汉语言文化中带有“牛”的词语与越南语言文化中带有 “trâu”/ “bò” 的词语之对比分析(ĐỐI CHIẾU CÁC TỪ NGỮ CÓ YẾU TỐ “牛” TRONG NGÔN NGỮ VĂN HÓA HÁN VỚI CÁC TỪ NGỮ CÓ YẾU TỐ “TRÂU”/ “BÒ” TRONG NGÔN NGỮ VĂN HÓA VIỆT NAM)


牛是人类在生产、生活中不可缺少的动物,它对汉、越语言和文化产生了重要的影响。本文基于大量的语料,深入分析汉、越语言中涉牛词语的主要特点,特别是牛在这些词语中所表达的意义。在此基础上,对比分析汉、越涉牛词语的主要特点,指出两者的相同和不同之处。之后,又从文化和认知角度,分析导致汉、越涉牛词语相同和不同之处的主要原因。

汉、越涉牛词语数量繁多,内涵丰富而且较为相似。汉、越语言中都有以牛命名、以牛喻物、以牛喻人等现象。汉语中有以牛喻多或少、以牛为大等词语,而越南语里则有用牛表示婚姻恋爱中的一方或者比喻富裕、充足的生活等现象。这是汉、越涉牛词语的差别所在。我们认为,人脑认知机制和人类生活经验相似、文化大同小异是汉、越涉牛词语相同点居多的主要根源,而不同的地理和生活条件以及民族心理和观念则是导致汉、越涉牛词语有所差异的原因所在。

Using Tests as a Summative Assessment Method in the Light of CLT at Kien Quoc Secondary School (Vấn đề sử dụng các bài kiểm tra đánh giá cuối kỳ đối với học sinh tại trường THCS Kiến Quốc theo định hướng giảng dạy tiếng Anh giao tiếp)


This minor thesis aims at finding out whether the English achievement tests used at Kien Quoc Secondary School, Haiphong are consistent with English language teaching and learning in the light of CLT to achieve the objective of the course. The study is hoped to provide a specific look at how the tests are used as a summative assessment method at KQSS in the light of CLT. In order to achieve this aim, the main method employed in the study is to analyze tests. All the end-of-semester tests administered to students in the academic year 2013 – 2014 from grade 6 to 9 were collected and analyzed with the hope to give conceptions about the tests. The findings show that the tests lack of speaking skill and are helpful to measure grammar aspect while three other dimensions of communicative competence were not measured effectively. These tests are claimed not to encourage the adoption of CLT at KQSS. Therefore, recommendations for better changes in testing are given to make tests fit well with the communicative objective of the language curriculum for secondary school.

Students’ Beliefs about Vocabulary Learning: A Mixed Methods Study (Sử dụng phương pháp hỗn hợp nghiên cứu đức tin của học sinh về việc học từ vựng)

The construct of learner beliefs is a topic that has gained much attention in education in recent years. Nearly two decades of research has revealed that beliefs about second/foreign language learning are strong influential factors on learning achievements.

This study explores the beliefs about vocabulary learning held by the secondary school students specializing in English, their employed vocabulary learning strategies as well as the extent to which their beliefs influenced their use of vocabulary learning strategies. The participants were 95 secondary school students of the English-specialization stream in one specialized secondary school in Quang Ninh province. The study used a mixed-methods design with questionnaires and interviews being the instruments of data collection.

The questionnaire was administered to identify the students’ beliefs about vocabulary learning and their employed vocabulary learning strategies. A small number of the questionnaire respondents were chosen for the follow-up interviews. The interview questions were developed on the basis of the initial results of the analysis of the questionnaire responses. The purpose of the interview was two-fold. First, it was to elicit more information that the questionnaire responses failed to provide. Second, it was to cross-check the responses the students gave to the questionnaire.

The obtained results revealed that the students in general had positive beliefs about vocabulary learning. They attached great importance to the role of vocabulary and lexical knowledge to their learning English at the school. However, they had conflicting beliefs about how words should be learned. In addition, there is consistence between their reported beliefs about vocabulary learning and their reported vocabulary learning strategies. The findings of the study also indicated that most of the strategies the students reported that they employed were cognitive strategies. Even in the interview, none of them mentioned any metacognitive or motivational strategies.

A Study on Using English Songs in Teaching Listening Skill to Improve the Efficiency and Motivation for First-Year Non-English-Major Students at Hai Duong Medical Technical University (Nghiên cứu việc sử dụng bài hát tiếng Anh trong việc dạy nghe hiểu để tạo động lực và nâng cao hiệu quả cho sinh viên không chuyên năm thứ nhất Trường Đại học Kỹ thuật Y tế Hải Dương)


This study investigates whether the using of English songs in teaching listening skill to non-major students is effective or not and discusses some suggestions of how to use English songs in teaching listening skill in classroom.

To achieve the aims of the thesis, the author used the following data collection instruments: survey questionnaire for teachers, survey questionnaire for students, and tests for students.

The results and findings point out the benefits of using English songs in teaching listening, some criteria to choose appropriate songs for teachers when teaching listening. And some tasks the teachers should design to teach students with the use of songs.

In conclusion, songs can be a good material for the use of teaching listening for students.

Tag-Questions in English: Liguistic Features and Possible Pedagogical Implications (Câu hỏi tách biệt trong tiếng Anh: Đặc điểm ngôn ngữ học và các ứng dụng sư phạm khả hữu)

Tag question is a special type of questions in English, which is frequently used by native speakers in daily conversations. However, students at Tran Phu High School, Quang Ninh Province usually make mistakes in using this grammatical structure so they cannot communicate successfully. This thesis is an attempt to help students master the nature of tag questions and become more confident in using them. In this thesis, the following points have been raised: the most relevant factors involving a tag question such as notions of tag questions, polarity, operators, intonation. Syntactic and semantic features of tag questions are also clearly presented. Besides, a study on students’ mistakes in using tag questions is provided. The data were collected among 90 eleventh grade students at Tran Phu high school by means of questionnaires. The findings highlighted students’ categories of mistakes including structural mistakes and intonation-related mistakes. Through the findings, the author has also tried to find out the causes of the mistakes and suggests some possible solutions in order to help students avoid committing these types of mistakes.

A Study of the English Quantifiers as Hedges Used in Theses by MA Students of English at the University of Languages and International Studies, Hanoi National University (Nghiên cứu về các lượng từ tiếng Anh dùng như phương tiện rào đón (che chắn) trong các luận văn của học viên cao học tiếng Anh ở trường Đại học Ngoại ngữ, Đại học Quốc gia Hà Nội)


This study investigates how English quantifiers are used as hedges in theses by MA students of English at the University of Languages and International Studies (ULIS), Hanoi National University. It explores intercultural characteristics of Vietnamese minds influencing on their written English.

The samples for the study are 10 MA English theses of the ULIS. All of them have been published from the last five years to make sure of the update. This study not only mentiones to the uses of quantifiers in English theses but sheds light on their roles as hedging devices in academic writing. The purpose of this study is to find out the frequencies of using quantifiers in MA theses as well as to investigate the pragmatic meanings of quantifiers used as hedges in these theses. This study is a quantitative and qualitative research. It is based on the corpus combined with observation, description and discussion in the light of pragmatics. The study helps to know how MA Vietnamese students use quantifiers in written English, especially in theses.

Ảnh hưởng của chiến lược phán đoán đến việc phát triển kĩ năng đọc hiểu của sinh viên không chuyên ngữ tại trường Đại học Công nghiệp TP HCM

This study aims to emphasize the effect of prediction strategy in reading comprehension with the application of some techniques for pre-reading and while-reading activities. The participants were 52 English non-majored students who participated in the complete learning course. This was indicated by students’ responses during the teaching and learning process. It was also strengthened by the data from the questionnaires after Cycle 2 in which the students pointed out that they enjoyed and interested in doing the reading activities using the prediction activities. The important thing for teachers is that they need to consider the effective techniques used in improving prediction strategy in particular and reading skill in general in order to motivate them in learning reading comprehension skill.

The score of TOEIC test in listening and reading reflects the proficiency of using English to communicate with native and non- native speakers of learners. In recent years, Vietnamese students consider TOEIC as a key to find a good job, get promotion or study abroad however they still find difficult to be good at listening section in TOEIC because of some linguistic obstacles. This study is conducted to investigate some phonology problems that hinder students’ success in TOEIC listening section. The data was collected through the survey questionnaires of 30 students and the interview of 2 teachers at a center in order to find out students’ phonology problems in TOEIC listening section as well as the solutions for these problems.

Khảo sát sự quan tâm của sinh viên và giáo viên đối với ngữ điệu tại Khoa Ngoại ngữ, trường Đại học Công nghiệp TP HCM

The purpose of the research is to look at English teaching and learning at tertiary education in Ho Chi Minh City. The university that I chose is Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City. The context makes me curious because it is still on its newly-born development. During my teaching and practice at this university, I have come to see that a lot of students find it difficult to use English, especially how to speak it. One important factor that contributes much to speak English is intonation. I have always seen a lot of students use English without intonation. But more importantly, what is the cause of this? This research uses three research tools to investigate the case: questionnaire, recording journals, and interview. The data have been coded manually with the help of computers. The research has revealed truths under the light of scientific research. With the results, the research has helped both teachers and learners really improve their teaching and learning English intonation. I refer readers to go chapter by chapter to fully comprehend what is behind those results.

Việc áp dụng kỹ thuật mô phỏng trong việc cải thiện kỹ năng nói tiếng Anh cho sinh viên năm nhất của Khoa Ngoại ngữ, trường Đại học Công nghiệp TP HCM

There is no room for doubt about the significance of English in such an integration day, typically the communicative abilities. And one of the challenges is that how to help student be able to apply their classroom knowledge for real-life situations to the most extent. Simulation is considered as one of the potential activities to wed theory into practice and improve students’ speaking skills. The attempt was tried out to know whether students were engaged in simulation and their responses to this activity. To serve these purposes, a quantitative research together with a specific group of 59 first-year students was chosen. At the same time, two phases of questionnaires, before introducing simulation and after its implementation were proceeded. For the achievements of these purposes, besides 59 freshmen from DHAV9A, DHAV9B, more methodologies including questionnaires and the interviews were also employed to help the researcher examine and provide more details to the findings as statistics and reliable materials for the analyzing phase. The results have found students’ interest and support for this kind of activities. They got chances to deal with realistic situations in relaxed settings, which not only prepared them with practical experience but promised to contribute to the improvement of their speaking skills. Additionally, this paper also provided several recommendations for the implementation of simulation, which were withdrawn from the research process.

Ảnh hưởng của tương tác trong lớp học đối với việc phát triển kỹ năng nói của sinh viên năm thứ hai không chuyên ngữ tại Trường Đại học Công nghiệp TP HCM

This study aimed at finding out classroom interaction types used, the teachers’ perceptions about the importance of classroom interaction and the main barriers in employing interaction. The research employed a qualitative method. Subjects were three Basic English teachers,150 non-English major sophomores at HUI. The data were gained through naturalistic observation, document analysis and interview. The data were analyzed by using FLINT (Foreign Language Interaction) system by Moskowitz (1971) and classroom interaction types of Malamah-Thomas’ (1987) frameworks. The findings revealed that teacher, students applied all categories of talk in FLINT system, some classroom interaction types. Teachers thought that interaction can increase students’ knowledge, confidence, establish relationship. They encountered some difficulties during interaction: students do not want to take risk, vocabulary, grammar.

Những mong muốn của học sinh yếu khi học tiếng Anh trên lớp

This study examined expectations of 5 low-competence learners from their English class in a private English school in Vietnam. The researcher adopted two qualitative methods of in-depth interview and observation to collect the data. The first in-depth interview data was coded to build up the subjects’ pre-conceived expectations. To examine their expectations related to what happened in class, the researcher analyzed the data collected from the observations and second in-depth interviews. The results showed that the low-competence learners cherished many expectations of the learning activities, the teachers and the classmates since they were not satisfied and had many challenges when learning in class. The effective collection and value to teachers of English were discussed.

Nghiên cứu về sự ảnh hưởng của động cơ học tập trong việc học tiếng Anh đối với sinh vien không chuyên tại trường Đại học Đại Nghĩa

Motivation-a psychological aspect, being considered as one of the most crucial factors in English acquisition, is very important in fostering learners' positive attitude toward the L2 learning process. However, how special the influences of motivation on non-English major students in army environment is, compared to other civilian training types. Thus, this study is conducted to investigate some elements that motivate and de-motivate students in EFL courses for basic purpose at Tran Dai Nghia University, an example of military schools. The data was collected through the survey questionnaires and interview of 78 students in two classes of two different faculties in order to find out what should be considered to improve teaching and learning quality of the L2 in this school.
