The results revealed that 10 out of 46 CHCl3/MeOH extracts from the samples were cytotoxic to at least one of two cancer cell lines (Hepatocellular carcinoma, Hep-G2; and Human lung adenocarcinoma, LU-1). Results of the antimicrobial assay indicate that 41 out of 46 extracts from the species were active against at least one or more of the test organisms (Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Candida albicans, Aspergillus niger and Fusarium oxysporum). None of the extracts exhibited free radical scavenging ability in 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) based antioxidant assay.
