Four 3-O-glucuronide oleanane-type triterpene saponins including 3-O--D-glucuronopyranosyl oleanolic acid (1), 3-O--D-glucuronopyranosyl hederagenin (2), 3-O-[α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(13)]--D-glucuronopyranosyl oleanolic acid (3) and 3-O-[α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(13)]--D-glucuronopyranosyl hederagenin (4) were isolated from the leaves of Schefflera sessiliflora De P. V.. Their structures were elucidated by HR-ESI-MS, NMR and comparison with published data and their α-glucosidase inhibitory activity were measured. All the isolates (1-4) showed stronger α-glucosidase inhibitory activity (IC50 = 5.99-21.74 μM) than the standard drug acarbose (IC50 = 214.50 μM).
