COURSE DESCRIPTION
The course
Translation 1 is designed for third-year students of the English Language Program. It
extends over a semester of 15 weeks with 03 periods per week. The course is delivered in the fifth
semester of the eight-
semester program. The course aims at developing students’
elementary
skills of translation between English and Vietnamese and building students’ repertoire of content
knowledge, structures and vocabulary through guided text analysis and translation practice.
The course also engages
learners with individual, pair and group work
activities through which
they can demonstrate their independent, collaborative and life-long learning.

develop elementary skills and techniques to produce natural and comprehensible translations
of common English structures into Vietnamese and vice versa
