Democratic leadership style

Democratic leadership, also known as participative leadership, is a leadership style in which leaders encourage group members to participate in decision making by soliciting their opinions and perspectives they consider their suggestions before making a final choice. In organizations, this style encourages collaboration, open communication, and shared decision making.
Characteristics of democratic leadership
Encourage creativity and cooperation: A democratic leader is someone who always seeks to get many different perspectives and opinions. They often have the communication ability and openness to encourage team members to participate in the decision-making process.
Collective goal setting and problem solving: People with a democratic leadership style believe that collective goal setting and problem solving are essential to achieving success. They try to create an environment where everyone can contribute ideas and work together to find solutions to problems.
Democratic leaders prioritize cooperation, so they value teamwork and actively seek to guide and support members while completing tasks.
Focus on results: Democratic leadership style often focuses on results, leaders always seek to improve performance, meet goals, and always take responsibility for team results. Therefore, a democratic leader can establish specific goals and certain requirements to ensure everyone stays on track.
Flexibility: Democratic leaders are always transparent and share all necessary information with members to make the most accurate decisions, this helps employees feel confident in them.
With a democratic leadership style, leaders are often very flexible and adaptable, they are always ready to change direction if it brings better results. They are open to new ideas and different perspectives, and they know that no one leadership method is appropriate in all different situations.
Advantages and disadvantages of democratic leadership style
Advantages: Members feel more connected and motivated to share thoughts and ideas, which helps them feel comfortable and promotes increased collaboration. The goal of democratic leadership is to have many options from many different perspectives. Therefore, with this style, leaders can use the expertise of members to devise action plans in the most comprehensive and objective way. Promote better team spirit, motivation and commitment. because everyone feels they are working toward a common goal. Multiple input helps bring about potential solutions for the business. Even though the process of evaluating options is quite time-consuming, the final decision may be more effective. This style is suitable for many business environments.
Disadvantages: Democratic leadership style can lead to indecisiveness if too many people are involved in the decision-making process. Conflict can occur within the group if members have opposing views on an issue Some employees may take advantage of the situation and intentionally manipulate the leader into making decisions that are not in the best interest of the group or organization. A democratic leadership style will maximize superior with a team of experienced and equally qualified staff. Therefore, if members do not have enough skills or are not deeply aware, the solutions they come up with may not be appropriate and cannot solve the problem. Not all members of the group always agree. everyone feels comfortable sharing their ideas in a group environment. This leadership style takes a lot of time because people need to discuss, debate and discuss to reach a final decision. Therefore, it is not suitable for an environment that requires quick decision making. Some team members may feel disappointed if their opinions are not accepted or the final decision is not a solution the best.
Ex : Apple experienced its golden age from 1976-1985, before entering an extremely difficult period in the mid-1990s. During this time, Gateway, Microsoft, Sun Microsystems and many other corporations tried to buy Apple. Apple again. However, "apple" still exists today - and the reason is because Steve Jobs has learned how to adapt to the times. At the beginning of Apple's founding, Jobs was known as a leader who empowered employees. Later, he became autocratic in his management style - as a result, Apple's board of directors asked him to resign. When he returned to Apple more than 10 years later, Jobs knew how to change his leadership style towards a more democratic direction. He hired other experienced leaders and enabled them to develop on their own. Jobs always wholeheartedly encouraged his chief designer, Jonathon Ive, as well as mentored manufacturing expert Tim Cook - currently Apple's CEO. In every important decision, Jobs gave them autonomy
