II/ whom, that which … laøm tuùc töøCaùc töø quan heä naøy thay cho tuùc töø trong meänh ñeà quan heä neân coù chöùc naêng laø tuùc töø.ø Ex:
The girl is his sister. You met her yesterday. The girl whom you met yesterday is his sister. Töø “the girl” vaø “her” laø moät neân duøng ñaïi töø whom thay cho “her”. “her” laø tuùc töø neân “whom “ laø tuùc töø. The pen is expensive. I bought it last week. The pen which I bought last week is expensive. Töø “the pen” vaø “it” laø 1 neân duøng ñaïi töø “which” thay cho “it” vaø coù chöùc naêng laø tuùc töø. III/ “Whom, which” theo sau giôùi töø. Ñoäng töø ôû meänh ñeà phuï coù giôùi töø thì ta ñöa giôùi töø ra tröôùc ñaïi töø quan heä. (That, who khoâng thay theá cho whom which ñöôïc.) Ex:
The man is a doctor. You were talking to him. The man to whom you were talking is the doctor. The picture is very expensive. You were looking at it. The picture at which you were looking is very expensive. NOTES: The man to who you talked is nice.(sai) The man to that you talked is nice.(sai) The man to whom you talked is nice.(ñuùng ) Trong vaên noùi coù theå vieát : The man that / who you talked to is nice. Trong tröôøng hôïp naøy caùc ñaïi töø coù theå boû. Ex: The pen I bought yesterday is cheap. The man you talked to is nice. B/ MEÄNH ÑEÀ TÓNH TÖØ KHOÂNG GIÔIÙ HAÏN. + meänh ñeà tónh töø giôùi haïn : laø meänh ñeà coù chöùc naêng haïn ñònh laïi danh töø laøm roû nghóa cho danh töø tröôùc noù, neáu khoâng coù noù seõ khoâng roû yù. + Meänh ñeà tónh töø khoâng giôiù haïn : laø meänh ñeà khoâng haïn ñònh laïi, khoâng laøm roû nghóa cho danh töø tröôùc noùmaø chæ theâm moät ít chi tieát maøthoâi. Ex:
The pen which is on the table is nice. Her father, whose is a doctor, is kind. + Caâu 1 laø meänh ñeà coù giôùi haïn vì meänh ñeà “ which is on the table” laøm roõ nghóa töø” the pen” laø caây vieát treân baøn chöù khoâng phaûi caây vieát khaùc, neáu boû ñi laø khoâng hieåu caây vieát naøo. + Caâu 2 laø meänh ñeà khoâng giôù haïn, vì meänh ñeà tónh töø “who is a doctor” khoâng laø roõ nghóa cho “her father”, noù ñaõ roõ raøng roài. Meänh ñeà naøy chæ theâm chi tieát : cha cuûa coâ aáy laø moät baùc syõ. Meänh ñeà tónh töø khoâng giôiù haïn ñöôïc ngaên caùch vôùi meänh ñeà chính bôûi 1 hoaëc 2 daáu phaåy. Ñaïi töø “that” khoâng duøng trong meänh ñeà naøy. Khi naøo duøng meänh ñeà khoâng giôùi haïn : a. Khi danh töø coù caùc chæ thò töø : this, these, that, those. Ex : That hat, which I boght last Sunday, is cheap. b. Khi danh töø ñoù coù sôû höûu tónh töø : my, her, his … Ex : Her mother, who is cleaning the house, is good. c. Khi ñoù laø danh töø rieâng: Ex : Mr Nam, who often comes here, has bought a car. Caùc tröôøng hôpï duøng “that” + Töø “that” ñöôïc duøng sau hình thöùc so saùnh nhaát. Ex : This is the most beautiful girl that I’ve met. + Töø “that” ñöôïc duøng sau hình thöùc nhaán maïnh It is ……… that …… Ex :It is he that met you yesterday. (Chính anh ta laø ngöôøi gaëp baïn hoâm qua.)
N hỗn hợp (cả người + vật) N có so sánh nhất, the first, the last… Sau các từ bất định như all, every(thing), some(thing), any( thing), no(thing)… Ex : She is the kindest person that I’ve ever known KHÔNG ĐƯỢC DÙNG THAT sau dấu phẩy sau giới từ Ex : This is John, whom I am talking about That

( Khi cần dùng một giới từ trước đại từ quan hệ, thì chỉ dùng giới từ + whom/ which ( không dùng who / that ) THAY THế MĐQH - Nếu Verb ở MĐQH ở năng động -> bỏ who, whom, which, that và dùng hình thức V-ing - Nếu Verb ở MĐQH ở bị động -> bỏ who, whom, which, that và dùng hình thức V3/ed - Nếu N trước MĐQH có the last, the second… so sánh nhất * rút gọn MĐQH bằng to-inf ( nếu câu năng động) * Rút gọn MĐQH bằng to be V3/ ed ( nếu câu bị động) Ex : 1. Quaù khöù keùp : giöõ nguyeân. “Used to, had to, had better, might …” : khoâng ñoåi. Caâu ñieàu kieän loaïi 2, 3 : khoâng ñoåi. Ex : 1. He said “I go to the zoo”. He said that he went to the zoo.
