THE BIOGRAPHY OF HIS HOLINESS HO PHAP PHAM CONG TAC, THE CAODAISM HEAD OF TAY NINH HOLY SEE

The His Holiness Ho Phap Pham Cong Tac governing Two Material Palaces: the Hiep Thien Dai and Cuu Trung Dai (Palace of Divine Alliance and Divine Palace of Nine Planes) has sacrificed his incarnation for all human beings, it expresses a Divine Mission of a Great Man on 20^th century to give a caution for human’s desire on this earth, to guide the human beings unify races for state, for religions and He has initiated the Peaceful Policy of Coexisting to reconcile two Southern and Northern Religions of Vietnam to avoid division imposed by foreign countries, and to harmonize Communist block and Capital block which have taken an oath in a death-feud, to understand each other to yield each other to obtain the Peace, Freedom, Democracy.

Mr. Pham Cong Tac was born on 5^th May. Canh Dan year (Tiger year – 21^st Jun. 1890) at Binh Lap hamlet, Chau Thanh District, Tan An province (Nowadays, it is Long An province), the eighth child of Mr. Pham Cong Thien and Mrs. La Thi Duong at An Hoa with native region belonging to Trang Bang district, Tay Ninh province.

When he was young, He was very hard in learning, going to school on in time, under causing love of his teachers and friends in same class. In his family, he was famous in being obedient, dutiful child for parents, in making concessions and respecting for younger and older brothers and sisters. When growing up in a dependent situation of France, he had knowledge of race miseries of country retrograding. On 17 years old, when learning at Chasseloup-Loubat in Saigon, he and Revolutionaries Phan Boi Chau, Phan Chau Trinh, Luong Khac Ninh, gibert Chieu…operated secretly to take people to the Japan in order to pursuit to recover independence of Vietnam.

The plan of going abroad was successful in three times to Japan. The French Detective Service uncovered him in the list of the fourth time, therefore he had to hide and return to Tay Ninh province for a period.

In 1920, he worked at Saigon Customs Service and was married with Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhieu and born two children Pham Thi Thieu and Pham Tan Tranh. After that, he moved to Cai Nhum, Qui Nhon and returned to Saigon in 1925.

Replying on wise and upright nature, he held many important positions, he always helped poor people, and never took advantage of position to seek for individual interest.

At that time, the official salary was limited. With willing moral spirit, his friend named Tran Chon Thanh visited to let him know that there was a poor family next his home which was worthily pitiful in Khanh Hoi. That family had two girls Nguyen Thi Cam and Nguyen Thi Hong swindled to leave home by a procurer. Mr. Thanh suggested him for method to help that pitiful family. He did not hersitated to give Mr. Thanh an amount of money saved for long time with a hearty speech that Mr. Thanh had to discuss with that procurer to save two girls to be out of the whorehouse. Mr. Pham Cong Tac has helped two girls to turn over the path and reunite with their family and to live and work honestly. With his honest nature, he always did in righteousness and zeal, and also asked his friends to help by heart to help poor and pitiful people readily.

His will trended to situation of nation, of race oppressed by people due fame and wealth. They never cared life and death of other ones, they just knew the joy of their body and their wife and children only.

The gold and money life has made people sunk in material prison. Boring feelings for fugitive life, he appealed to his dear friends to discuss about the spiritually automatic writing apparatus for séance to invite souls to respond to poem together so that they could learn the divine world with purpose to forget everything to enjoy the noble happiness. They sometimes set up ceremonies, sometimes-recited poems, sometimes responded to poems.

THE CAODAISM HEAD OF

GREAT WAY – THIRD PERIOD – UNIVERSAL SALVATION

Mr. Pham Cong Tac wanted to study mystery of invisible world, he established ceremonies of spiritually automatic writing apparatus for séance to study. This form has been applied for a long time on over the world, it is just different about use aspect due to custom and habit of each race.

The spiritually automatic writing apparatus for séance is a final stage of spiritual communication between creator and human belonging spiritual aspect. This is a medium for invisible superiors to teach all human beings, a brilliant torch to take human to the sublime world. The spiritually automatic writing apparatus for séance is a very sharp two-edged sword, people must see the method of apply, in contrary, it is extremely dangerous. If the mediums of a séance lack of guidance, practice, and belief of their mission or making corrupt use of unrighteous plan, many troubles will be caused for all issues and aspects.

The spiritually automatic writing apparatus for séance appeared in 18^th century in the Occidental region and developed to become Spiritualism (Le Spiritisme).

On September 1853, Mrs. Decibardin visited Great Writor Victor Hugo at the Jersey island to celebrate a séance to communicate with invisible souls in order to relieve their sorrows and to seek mercy of learning from the invisible world.

At night, 13 September 1853, there was a soul descending to talk with Mr. Victor Hugo congenially and to give many fluent speeches and said that: “Believe in the universe monad!”. In United State, in 1856, the lawyer Edmond with famous fame and foremost Mr. Napes as a Professor of Academy University of United State also celebrated séance to communicate with Invisible Souls to write books. They also acknowledged that invisible souls could communicate with living people mentioned in the book Traité de Méthaphysiques and also emphasized a point: “from this time, this new science foundation will be marvelous that no many people can see thoroughly”.

At that time in Saigon, the movement of celebration for séance spreaded in towns and countrysides. This phenomenon happened everywhere very mysteriously such as séance in Thu Dau Mot, Go Vap Mieu Noi temple, Ngoc Hoang Pagoda in Dakao, Hiep Ninh pagoda in Cai Khe belong to Can Tho province, Thach Dong cavern in Ha Tien,….

Mr. Pham Cong Tac with: Mr. Cao Quynh Cu, Cao Hoai Sang, Nguyen Trung Hau, Truong Huu Duc, Cao Quynh Dieu, Vo Van Nguyen assembled at Mr. Cao Hoai Sang’s home at 5 May. At Suu year (23 July 1925) to celebrate séance to invite invisible superiors to descend for response towards poems by the Occidental Spiritualism method. In séances, many invisible souls descends down the table to call their names by themselves very clearly with many good poems, however they did not believe in them very much because of mutual doubt (doubt for people interfering together). However, due to desire of poem response with moon and wind, with misery freedom, they assembled together to celebrate séance with dear friends.

On 6 June At Suu year (26-7-1925), a invisible soul descend and called name by himself as Cao Quynh Luong making present people very pleased for foremost Mr. Cao Quynh Cu (Mr. Cao Quynh Luong calls Mr. Cao Quynh Cu as an uncle). Mr. Cu asked: “If you are really Cao Quynh Luong, you must know everybody here. You call name of each one here if it is right”. After Mr. Cu ended his speech, the table knocked as a reply: Dieu, Tac, Sang, Duc, Nguyen, Hau. Mr. Cu recognized the correct determination of each name in order (Especially, called in order), that made him secure in belief more about the invisible world. After that, Mr. Cu asked Mr. Luong to invite his grandfather as Mr. Cao Quynh Tuan for attendance (Mr. Cao Quynh Tuan is Mr. Cao Quynh Cu’s father).

After a short rest, they continued to celebrate the séance. Mr. Cao Quynh Tuan descended down table, it made they very surprised. Mr. Cu stood up and folded hands to kindly spoke to the soul: When you died, my old and young brothers were still young and my brother was still young. Now you may give a narrative poem for generation adore. With no demur, the table moved and gave a poem:

Leaving earth when being over fifty,

You were about ten years old.

All advices and love given,

Advising for heart due to love.

Soul replies on the invisible world,

Very unoccupied in the divine world.

Watching good wife in senile status,

Giving recommendations for meeting.

I would like to ascend.

The narrative poem of Mr. Cao Quynh Tuan made present persons there touched. Mr. could avoid his tears. From that time, they did not disregard celebration of séance any more, they did not consider as a play as before, moreover they respected very much for each séance.

At night of Saturday of 10^th June At Suu year (30-7-1925), they went to Mr. Cao Hoai Sang’s home to continue for séances. The table moved lightly and fast in strange state. The table of séance knocked : “died due to love”. Hearing words of “died due to love”, they became frightened. Only Mr. Cao Quynh Cu was unruffled to ask: “Male or female?” The soul replied: “Doan Ngoc Que, girl”

The name and surname is same to name of Mr. Dieu’s friend. Mr. Cao Quynh Cu asked for a narrative poem. The séance table moved lightly and gave a poem:

There is no one to give confidence to,

Wasting beauty and talent because of bad fate.

Thinking fortune would come for aristocracy,

Suddenly, falling to divine world due to fate.

Heart with sorrow for native country,

No more for life of a girl.,

Repeated lovesickness as a burden,

There is no one to give confidence to

Two narrative poems of Mr. Cao Quynh Tuan and Ms. Doan Ngoc Que had a great value to destroy their doubt and negation toward invisible world at that time. In contrary, it also helped them have respectful belief to the mystery of invisible world. Due to very famous verses, they responded to Doan Ngoc Que’s poem interestingly. As they could response to a soul with very fluent verses, this made him more interested in celebrating séance every night to study more about the invisible world. The more they got in touch with souls such as Doan Ngoc Que, the more they respected.

However, they wanted to know the Doan Ngoc Que’s origin, the girl “died due to love”. The soul fast answered: Formerly, lived at Cho Lon, learnt at Dam school.

At the last week of August, At Suu year (1925), they celebrate a séance to invite Ms. Doan Ngoc Que to study more things about the invisible world according to their long wishes.

Ms. Doan Ngoc Que guided them secrets toward invisible world to meeting their ardent wish. They concurrently suggested to strike up a friendship with her.

Ms. Doan Ngoc Que accepted and friendly called them:

Mr. Cao Huynh Cu, oldest brother

Mr. Pham Cong Tac, second brother

Mr. Cao Hoai Sang, third brother

And Ms. Doan Ngoc Que called herself as fourth young sister.

As being stricken a friendship as brothers and sisters, Mr. Cao Quynh Cu did not hersitate to ask her real name, however she did not reveal her real name. After all, they always insisted, she pleased them and the séance table moved and knocked three abbreviated letters: V.T.L.

Mr. Cao Quynh Cu continued to ask: where is your grave at the moment?

Ms. Doan Ngoc Que answered: At the moment, the grave is at the Ba Lon cemetery (Phuong General Chief) at the seven concerns of Saigon.

They tried to find out the origin of Ms. Doan Ngoc Que with her real name abbreviated by three letters V.T.L.

In order to know the reality or unreality, on Sunday, Mr. Cu. Tac, Sang made an appointment at the cemetery of Phuong General Chief. At exact 8am, they kept their promise to go straightly to and saw Ms. Vuong Thi Le’s grave. Their curiousness was pleased by seeing a nice grave with a young and beautiful photograph of Ms. Vuong Thi Le on the grave and name and surname written at the bottom of the photograph.

There was no doubt, three of them prayed with incense to soul of Ms. Vuong Thi Le and then went back. However, they still queried if souls could descend daytime. They also wanted to ask Ms. Doan Ngoc Que some things.

When going home, they immediately celebrated a séance at 9am. Ms. Doan Ngoc Que descended down the séance table to let them know clearly that the grave that they visited this morning was her grave. This event made them much more surprised because without question, Ms. Doan Ngoc Que met their wish in that séance.

The evidence that they could not deny was an issue that people could contact with invisible souls. It means that they discovered an issue that just a few people know mystery of invisible world.

In order to temper their spirit and belief, one day, Ms. Vuong Thi Le descended to guide about moral, religious aspect. She deliberated to introduce her talented female friend to three of them, named Hon Lien Bach. Under introduction, Mr. Cao Hoai Sang wanted to try at the talent of female poet and wrote an examination “Seeing off passion for husband”. She was not tardy to give a poet:

Ms. Hon Lien Bach concurrently gave a continuous poet named: “Missing Husband”:

Two poems of Ms. Hon Lien Bach given on 5 August At Suu year (22^nd-8-1925) made three of them very interested in responding to poem between the visible world and invisible world. They were very crazy about refined spirit on this earth.

A rare issue happened: the remour spreaded everywhere that Ms. Vuong Thi Le descended via a séance, made the family of Ms. Vuong Thi Le believe to go to Mr. Cao Quynh Cu’s house in order study the reality. They wanted to attend the celebration of séance. They could not refuse suggestion and two strange visitors called themselves as relatives of Ms. Vuong Thi Le and attended the séance.

When Ms. Vuong Thi Le descended down the séance table, Mr. Cao Quynh Cu asked: fourth young sister, do you know two strange visitors? She immediately replied:

“Lost from Elysium at decadence”

(Note: In Vietnamese, the verse contains two words: Nguyen and Vong. These are two names of strange visitors)

Two strange visitors heard name of Nguyen and Hung as their name prayed with incense by a verse:

“Burning incense to show happiness”

Ms. Le responded continuously the poem:

Such as mysterious event, it helped Mr. Cu, Tac, Sang be overjoyed toward celebrating séance. The miraculous mystery was touched by three of them in responding to poem every night, it made them untried, they felt passionate much more.

At the last week of July At Suu year (1925), Mr. Pham Cong Tac with reliable friends assembled to celebrate the séance, there was a soul descending without calling his name, however he gave a poem:

Peppery chili, peppery due to chill in resentful thought,

Salty salt in three years long lasting.

Travelling and stopping here,

No acceptance to follow anyone.

(Provisional explanation)

When receiving this poem, three of them: Mr. Cu, Tac, Sang insisted to know soul’s name. However, the Invisible Superior denied and called himself as A. Ă. Â only. They were very surprised and deliberated to study at this Invisible Superior A. Ă. Â, however he did not reveal his name. This made them meditate themselves and feel strange for this Invisible Superior. From that time, no one dared to ask his origin any more.

Until to the first week of August At Suu year (1925), once Mr. A. Ă. Â descended to teach Mr. Cu, Tac, Sang: Do not ask my origin any more, especially for national issues, politics, divine mechanism. I will often descend to respond to poem together. Concurrently, he asked three of them to prepare “vegetarian party” at the fifteenth of lunar August, At Suu year (1925) to respectfully welcome Dieu Tri Kim Mau (MOTHER BUDDHA) and 9 fairies such as a party for living people. However, the party was required to be pure. They did not know way of organizing party, they discussed and invited Ms. Vuong Thi Le for her guidance. Ms. Le descended down a séance to guide everything for way of order of solemn chairs, table and also revealed that she was the seventh Fairy of Dieu Tri Cung.

The Seventh Fairy descended to guide three of them that they had to pray by heart and fasted within 3 days, to clean the home, to celebrate the ceremony solemnly to respectfully welcome Duc Dieu Tri Kim Mau. Besides, she also asked each one to compose a poem and had to find the Great Gem Apparatus of Séance to respectfully invite Dieu Tri Kim Mau in ceremony.

For Great Gem Apparatus of séance, three of them did not know its appearance. The Seventh Fairy immediately drew its image for them and also explained clearly its origin. It was created from the image of Bac Dau Star. She also guided way of uses.

With thoughtful guidance of Seventh Fairy, three of them were very animated to wait for the fifteenth of lunar August to know many strange things in invisible world.

How lucky! How mysterious! While they did not know how to find the Great Gem Apparatus to catch the time determined, accidentally on person told them that Mr. Phan Van Ty had it. Moreover, Mr. Ty often went to Mr. Cao Quynh Cu’s home to talk and acknowledged that the slowness in using séance table if it was compared with Great Gem Apparatus but Mr. Ty did not dare to give his opinion at that time.

He was asked to lend it, he accepted happily, but he had to go to Mr. Au Kich’s home to take back, where has kept the Great Gem Apparatus for long time. All wonders, worries were managed easily by Mr. Ty. Mr. Ty took the Great Gem Apparatus to Mr. Cao Quynh Cu’s home on time.

Are all things due to the predestination of divine mystery? After three-day purely vegetarian time, at the mid-autumn, bright moon, cool wind of the fifteenth of lunar August At Suu year, Mr. Cao Quynh Cu’s home was decorated solemnly.

A solemn table put in the middle of house with a white carpet on the table surface. On the table, colorful flowers were very nice. Around the table, there were splendid 9 tea cups and 9 alcohol cups. Besides, around the table, there were 9 cane chairs covered by white cloth. If visitor coming to see, they would compliment entertainment solemnly, they would not think that the party would be prepared for 9 Fairies.

Near to 12am at night, Mr. Cao Quynh Cu, Pham Cong Tac, Cao Hoai Sang, Cao Quynh Dieu, Nguyen Trung Hau, Truong Huu Duc, Vo Van Nguyen worn black long dress with turban on head very solemnly. They burnt incense and lights ceremonially.

After praying, they begun burning aloe wood. Mr. Cu and Tac sat down to hold the Gem Apparatus. The Gem Apparatus moved strongly and fast. Duc Dieu Tri Kim Mau descended down with salute to present people and taught about morality, way of religious cultivation, also promised to descend often to teach Mr. Cu, Tac, Sang.

Duc Dieu Tri Kim Mau ceded the Gem Apparatus for 9 Fairies. 9 Fairies gradually descended down with salute to them. Especially, before sitting to attend the party, the Seventh Fairy descended to ask three of them to have to held a concert to offer to Duc Dieu Tri Kim Mau and 9 Fairies (because they were good at music). Then they had to recite their ready poem.

The party was going to begin, Seventh Fairy asked three of them to sit down same table to enjoy the party with Fairies, however three of them denied, they did not dare to sit down same table. The Seventh Fairy invited many times, three of them had to take three chairs put after 9 ready chairs, then they sat to attend the party with 9 Fairies.

The banquet on fifteenth of lunar August At Suu year (1925) may be considered as the first banquet between living people and 9 Fairies, named Hoi Yen Dieu Tri Cung. Nowadays, with annual routine, the fifteenth of lunar August of every year coming, the Caodaism Sacerdotal Council of Tay Ninh Holy See always organizes the Great Ceremony of Hoi yen Dieu Tri Cung at the MOTHER BUDDA Temple very solemnly and to commemorate Duc Dieu Tri Kim Mau and Nine Fairies with great pains guide Dignitaries of Hiep Thien Dai (Palace of Divine Alliance) in the beginning of embryo Great Way.

There is a rare issue happening that toward the world and all previous Religions, there has not been any banquet organized with invisible souls. That banquet just happens in the Caodaism only.

This is also a favour for Vietnam race blessed by MOTHER BUDDHA, the Divine Mother has blessed for Vietnam race. If other races on the world know Caodaism and become Caodaism followers, they must preserve the meaning of Great Ceremony of Hoi yen Dieu Tri to show respectful heart for MOTHER BUDDHA’s favour.

The wishes of Mr. Cu, Tac, Sang were sympathized, Mr. A. Ă. Â descended down to reveal the miraculous mystery in invisible world gradually for three of them for foremost future situation of Vietnam. To please their ardent wish, he told by a sure sentence: “Will use eternal and boundless mystery to release the slavish situation of Vietnam race…” This is a fully meaningful speech embraved in their mind at that time.

Events which are necessary will have to happen naturally. At night of 27^th October At Suu year, Duc Dieu Tri Kim Mau descended down to teach: three of them must “Petition to the GOD for a Religion”. On 1^st November At Suu year (18^th December 1925), it made three of them amazed because they had been enjoying the time of responding to poems between living people and Fairies, between the visible world and invisible world night by night to study things belonging invisible world. When hearing the phrase : “Petition to the GOD for a Religion”, three of them felt worried and very afraid because they had never thought they would have spread the religion. However, the guidance of Mr. A. Ă. Â trained them to understand thoroughly useful morality for the future.

At night of 1^st November At Suu year (18 December 1925), three of them worn black long dress with a black turban on head solemnly stood at the middle of yard with 9 incense sticks in hands and prayed that: we are Cao Quynh Cu, Pham Cong Tac, Cao Hoai Sang bowed down to the GOD to be blessed for three of us in order to give up the wrong way to return to right way in front of compatriots coming around. There was a difficult thing that at the time of taking an oath, three of them could not know who Mr. A. Ă. Â was. They just obeyed the order of Mr. A. Ă. Â to carry out.

At 12am, three of them smoked by aloe wood to be pure, to sit at the séance table. The Gem Apparatus of séance moved lightly, Mr. A. Ă. Â descended to teach: “SUPREME BEING as Caodaism Immortal – Great Bodhisattva – Mahasattva. If you want to be taught Tao by ME, you must call ME as “MASTER” from this time in calling conveniently, and I call you as “children”. I want you to propagate the Great Way, do you dare to receive that significant mission?” Mr. Pham Cong Tac respectfully reply: “You teach us, we obey your order. However, among us, no one comprehends religion except for things taught by MASTER long since, those knowledges are just diminutive, we are afraid that we are not worthy to receive this great mission”.

The His Holiness CAODAISM GOD taught: “For everything, I stay next to you, on condition that you agree to do by your heart, there is nothing happening”. Three of them agreed and petitioned to His Holiness Caodaism about way of worship.

After ceremony “Petition to the GOD for a Religion”, Mr. Cu, Tac, Sang respected His Holiness CAODAISM GOD very much and took care of cultivating nature and heart, of morality hard.

The rumour spreaded everywhere that there was the GOD descending the earth to found the Great Way-Third Period-Universal Salvation. This event drew a new step of progress for Caodaism founded on Vietnam land. The greatest honour for Vietnam race is to control the Caodaism Religion in order to carry out the love and justice taught by His Holiness Caodaism:

“Not to differentiate the name to be in the same roof,
Going with same Religion, it means getting one FATHER.
Keeping the benevolence and righteousness of one hundred years,

Teaching together one word harmony.

Before mysteries showed by His Holiness Caodaism in guiding Mr. Cu, Tac, Sang in recent time created an absolutely respectful belief to His Holiness Caodaism.

The Noel came (24^th December-1925), three of them celebrated a séance and His Holiness CAODAISM GOD descended to teach:

“Thousand years, the God manages the Universe,

Tonight, you have to be happy because it is a day I went to the earth to preach in Europe. I am very glad to see disciples respecting ME like this. This house will be full of MY favour. I will make you see mysteriousness so that you will respect MASTER more. I have been under name A, Ă, Â for long time to guide you into the moral path so that in a near future, you must help MASTER found a Religion. Do you see how I have been humble yet? You should imitate MASTER”.

At night on 18^th January 1926, His Holiness CAODAISM GOD descended to teach: Mr. Pham Cong Tac and Mr. Cao Quynh Cu had to take the Great Gem Apparatus of séance to the house of Mr. Le Van Trung (Upper House Council at the Testard street, Cho Lon) and to hold the apparatus of séance so that His Holiness CAODAISM GOD taught Mr. Le Van Trung. This is a very difficult issue for Mr. Cu and Tac because they had eve known Mr. Le Van Trung. Moreover, Mr. Le Van Trung was a very superior and ascendancy officer. Due to the strong belief, two of them obeyed the holy order of His Holiness Caodaism. How honorable! Two of them has just entered the house, the servant replied to Mr. Trung that there were two strange visitors coming. Mr. Trung immediately welcomed and invited the visitors. Mr. Cu and Tac began to report about the event of His Holiness Caodaism teaching to come here to teach Mr. Trung. He had just heard two words Caodaism, he was very glad to listen attentively, for each speech of report by interesting and respectful spirit. He agreed to celebrate a séance at his house without any hesitance.

After the friendly meeting and discussion under the consideration of Mr. Le Van Trung, that helped Mr. Pham Cong tac respected His Holiness Caodaism more. At the fist time, Mr. Pham Cong Tac was nervous when entering Mr. Trung’s house. However, after contacting Mr. Trung, Mr. Tac recognized that Mr. Trung also respected His Holiness Caodaism and Mr. Trung also showed the friendship to Mr. Cu and Tac as mutual brothers.

After that, Mr. Le Van Trung decorated his house, set up an altar, bought incense, lamp, flower, tea, alcohol thoughtfully to wait one day to perfectfully welcome His Holiness Caodaism descending down. On the fifteenth of December At Suu year (1925), one séance was cerebrated very solemnly at Mr. Trung’s house under his absolute respect trained for long time. His Holiness Caodaism descended to teach: “I have asked Ly Thai Bach to guide you for long time for séances at Cho Lon. Trung! Do with your whole heart! The life is also due to MASTER, the death is also to MASTER, the success is also due to MASTER, you use your wisdom to consider it.

One sky, one earth, one personal house,

Guiding human beings into good path.

Holding the heaven mechanism to save man,

Be glorious for humanity to become an immortal.

The teachings of His Holiness of Caodaism were carried out seriously by Mr. Le Van Trung. He impressed on his memory and never ignored missions. Foremost mystery of His Holiness Caodaism was blessed for Mr. Trung to have good eyesight from his blind eyes. His eyes had been blind for long time that famous physicians always treated his eyes whole-heartedly but there was no result. Nowadays, according to the divine mystery of favour of His Holiness Caodaism, he could recover the status of his eyes. That was a divine mystery, an encouragement that Mr.Trung always remembered forever. Therefore, His Holiness Caodaism taught: “Trung! You should reply on your eyes to considerate…”. With the belief for His Holiness Caodaism, Mr. Trung was determined to arrange his home issues and to apply the resigned form for position of Upper House Council, to volunteer to leave life for serving the Tao. That is an action happening rarely in the officialdom. He Mr. Le Van Trung cooperated with Mr. Pham Cong Tac, Cao Huynh Cu, Cao Hoai Sang to go around provinces to preach in salvation policy. He gradually became a superior dignitary of Caodaism Sacerdotal Council of Tay Ninh Holy See. His Holiness Caodaism concurrently taught more: “Trung! You must forward opening MY new religion founded in third period under Caodaism name with using the Divine Eye representing the GOD under religious name Great Way-Third Period-Universal Salvation”.

On February in 1926, Mr. Pham Cong Tac and Mr. Trung, Cu, Sang, Hau, Duc went to the house No.: 110 Boudais street, Saigon to reply on the help of Mr. Ngo Minh Chieu about guiding more to worship the Divine Eye that the revelation was for Mr. Chieu seeing the Divine Eye representing the GOG in 1921. Mr. Chieu drew the Divine Eye to respect and worship. Under the séance, two groups of the GOD had a change to meet in a friendship as brothers at the house of Mr. Chieu and to assign the responsibility in propagating the Great Way. This is a history date of first twelve Disciples of His Holiness Caodaism via séance via to their mutual meeting under friendly sentiment which were friendly than siblings, to take care of ways to spread the Great Way-Third Period-Universal Salvation.

His Holiness CAODAISM GOD is the lord of universe. He loves Vietnam race with a firm and full belief in worshiping the GOD, Buddha respectfully. In spite of kind of Religion, even where it comes, they are respected and worshiped by Vietnamese. Due to that immensely respectful and admired heart, His Holiness Caodaism granted privilege to choose Vietnam race to hand over the true doctrine for control even Vietnam is a small, humble, subordinate race in the Orient. His Holiness Caodaism used the automatic pen mystery to descend earth to found the Great Way-Third Period-Universal Salvation directly, named as a Great Amnesty in Third Period. It means that it is the Caodaism on Vietnam in 1926. The core is to bless Vietnam to end the domination by using morality and charity as a standard to plant a eternally immortal seed at the Caodaism gate to recover the motherland spirit devastated in 80 years of domination. The spirit of Caodaism contains the love and justice of GOD to Unify Three Religions, Unify Five Branches in order to lead humankind into the state of concord universe, to acknowledge everybody soon as mutual brothers with the same father.

The Great Way-Third Period-Universal Salvation named as Caodaism founded on Vietnam is not a random but it is due to the Divine Book determined under a very secret and mysterious cause that the earthly mind can not examine while previous Religions have ever showed predictions proving that the GOD, the LORD of Universe would found a New Religion named Caodaism.

Only boundless love of His Holiness Caodaism just created an advantage situation for two Caodaism groups under the same training to absolutely obey His Holiness Caodaism’s teachings.

At the Eve of New Year of Binh Dan year (18^th February 1926), according to the order of His Holiness CAODAISM GOD, Mr. Ngo Minh Chieu with Mr. Cao Quynh Cu and Mr. Pham Cong Tac had to take the Gem Apparatus of séance to go to each house of fist disciples so that His Holiness Caodaism gave a spring poem to each one to predict their moral nature. Firstly, they went to Mr. Vo Van Sang’s house. After the host had burnt incense and prayed, Mr. Tac and Cu held the séance apparatus, His Holiness Caodaism descended to give a poem:

New citizen happily sees new year,

Third Period-Universal Salvation with good men.

Intend to follow the true doctrine by heart,

Ascend heaven by living on earth in naturally.

After the poem given by His Holiness CAODAISM GOD, Mr. Ngo Minh Chieu expressed congratulations of new year for Mr. Vo Van Sang’s family, then took leave of Mr. Sang to go to houses of other disciples. In that way, Mr. Chieu, Cu, Tac went to one by one so that His Holiness Caodaism descended the séance apparatus to teach with congratulations of new year for each family. They had to go to 12 families enough of Caodaism disciples in order to go back. The disciple families always received precious speeches of His Holiness Caodaism for teachings and predictions for the future of religious life of each disciple just by a short, profoundly meaningful and subtle poem.

On 11^th March Binh Dan (14 April 1926), Mr. Pham Cong Tac was nominated as a position “Ho Gia Tien Dong Ta Co Dao Si” with Mr. Cao Quynh Cu, Cao Hoai Sang,…by His Holiness Caodaism. Mr. Cu, Tac, Sang, Dieu, Hau, Duc,…had to respect Mr. le Van Trung as a brother and had to respect Mr. Ngo Minh Chieu as an eldest brother. His Holiness Caidai GOD taught:

“Disciples! Listen!

Mr. Đao respectfully replied: “MASTER! I have to take care of Minh Ly Council”.

His Holiness CAODAISM GOD taught: “same origin, it replies on your decision, do blame MASTER later!”.

“Duc! Practice the séance apparatus, Hau! Practice the séance apparatus to follow brothers to preach other ones later. Listen and obey!”.

Are the teachings of His Holiness Caidai GOD a divine order of nominating first disciples with different duties for each disciple of two Caodaism groups trained by His Holiness CAODAISM GOD for long since to unify together to take care of one responsibility in preaching Great Way to make the name of Great Way-Third Period-Universal Salvation brilliant. That is really a divine order of nomination of His Holiness CAODAISM GOD. The first disciples did not deny without envy. They just absolutely obeyed the divine mysteries given. Number of people following Caodaism increased manifold to cause worries for dignitaries because there was no place of worship and no legality in preaching easily in provinces. Therefore, they celebrated a séance for teachings of His Holiness CAODAISM GOD. His Holiness CAODAISM GOD taught: “You go to Gia Hai pagoda to meet Nhu Nhan monk to be satisfied”. According to the teaching, a Caodaism Dignitary delegation was appointed to meet Nhu Nhan Monk with a warn entertainment. The issue was expressed in detail, Nhu Nhan Monk agreed to lend the Go Ken Pagoda (Tu Lam Tu which was building in Tay Ninh province was in stage of finishing wall and tiling brick. When finishing, it could be used). The elder brother Chanh Phoi Su (Principal Archbishop) Thai Tho Thanh undertook responsibility of amending Go Ken pagoda considered as a Caodaism Temple that Nhu Nhan Monk lent provisionally. Concurrently, the first disciples of His Holiness Caodaism assembled to discuss about writing the petition form of opening in order to submit to His Holiness CAODAISM GOD in advance. His Holiness CAODAISM GOD taught: “I am the lord of Universe, who do you petition to? But you are very afraid, therefore I have to please you wish”.  

On 29^th September 1926, Mr. Pham Cong Tac with first disciples including 27 persons signed (on behalf of 247 persons attending in assembly) on the petition form of opening Great Way to submit to Mr. Le Foy – the Vice Commander of Southern region. The petition form of opening religion had been really prepared already by Mr. Le van Trung and Le Van Lich and His Holiness Caodaism had approved.

At that time, the Great Way was being distrusted by French government. All movements of dignitaries could not be slipped from eyes of investigator spies easily everywhere. Mr. Le Van Trung dared to cope with difficulties to send the petition to the French Government. That was not a simple thing because of its danger. Even the Great Way-Third Period-Universal Salvation was embryonic stage, two words “Caodaism” was always reminded and respected. Therefore, each time of séance held everywhere in spite of long distance, compatriots still attended fully in order to firstly receive record moral guidance of divine superiors and to secondly petition prescriptions and to petition embracing Caodaism.  

  “Children! I have founded a Temple , that place is your common. Understand?

  When receiving the precious speeches of His Holiness CAODAISM GOD with teachings and guidance for each facts, thousands of Caodaism disciples co-acknowledged the importance of fifteenth of October, Binh Dan year as a great ceremony of First Anniversary of Opening Great Way-Third Period-Universal Salvation in Vietnam fatherland. This is a great honour of our Vietnam race with a own knot of religion. It is also a first great ceremony of religion on Vietnam. Actually, for indifferent public opinion with half belief and half doubt about many aspects regarding to events happening in the day of great ceremony. The marvelous and divine mystery of His Holiness CAODAISM GOD was still brilliant in descending to found the Religious Constitutional Law and New Codes of Caodaism as a main rope for Caodaism. Consequently, everyday there were over 200 people petitioning to adopt to Caodaism at the Go Ken Temple.

His Holiness Ho Phap Pham Cong Tac often reminded disciples: “The Caodaism is founded for Vietnam race, for Vietnam country. It means that our disaster is released. Keep heart pure, take long-suffering nature as an example, lead mankind to the concord in justice love, help each other as brothers in a same roof. Such a race certainly have enough morality and ability to undertake guiding humankind civilization in future”. His Holiness Caodaism DOD taught: “From this time, in Vietnam country, just one true religion is MY religion, I come here to found for you a National Religion, understand!”. Due to two words “National Religion”, His Holiness Ho Phap solemnly confirmed: “when hearing two words National Religion, how invaluable that I could understand after studying. At the beginning time, I knew to love race, loved fatherland that I followed up my wish from the young age with vitality. I ² thought that Pham Cong Tac died when I was 35 years old, that was the time I sacrificed whole body to SUPREME BEING named His Holiness CAODAISM GOD, as a sacrifice to serve humankind in future”. How mysterious! The oath is fully efficacious for religious life of His Holiness Ho Phap Pham Cong Tac. On 17^th May 1958, His Holiness Ho Phap returned to the Heaven when he was at the Calmette hospital in Phnom Penh when He lived in exile in Cambodia. Before one week of returning to Heaven, His Holiness Ho Phap gave Last Words: “provisionally leave the body in Cambodia to also endure the situation of halves of compatriots of Northern and Southern regions of Vietnam”.

His Holiness Ho Phap replied for one question of His Holiness CAODAISM GOD: “MASTER! Ask me to be Lao Tzu or Jesus or Sakyamuni, I can do it. I am just Pham Cong Tac only. I think that for talentless, immoral nature, I do not stop to follow MASTER, however I think it is still not useful for MASTER”.

His Holiness CAODAISM GOD taught: “Tac, if I use the nature of Pham Cong Tac to found the religion, what do you think?”

His Holiness Ho Phap respectfully replied: “If it is possible…”

His Holiness CAODAISM GOD continued to teach: “I come to found a National Religion for Vietnam country”.

After hearing, the spirit of His Holiness Ho Phap seemed to wander among space because of hearing a thing that he have ever wished. His Holiness Ho Phap could not refused because two word National Religion with many powers was really for Vietnam race and Vietnamese owned that religion. His Holiness CAODAISM GOD concurrently gave a poem:

First verse: not about division of three religions of Vietnam: South, Middle, North. This mentions three religions: Confucianism, Taoism, Buddhism.

Second verse: the MASTER governs the power in unifying Three Religions as a True Doctrine-National Religion. It is not only for Vietnam but also for humankind of world.

Third verse: The great way is preached in South, Middle and North, then preached abroad.

Fourth verse: His Holiness CAODAISM GOD governs Great Way to unify belief.

The Caodaism Sacerdotal Council intended the inauguration of Go Ken Temple within 3 days because of ability of limited finance, they did not dare to invite many visitors. Moreover, the Colonial French kept track to prevent in causing troubles. But the Great Ceremony of Inauguration lasted naturally over 3 months. The compatriots, democratic personalities, intellectuals, journalists, full of ranks, full of belief ranks and conceptions converged to Go Ken Temple to contemplate the ceremony of worshiping His Holiness CAODAISM GOD and concurrently welcomed new religion just founded in Vietnam country. The democratic personalities, intellectuals adopted to Caodaism over 100,000 disciples, this attracted many compatriots from provinces coming to do merit. It made colonial French worried about strong and fast development of Caodaism . Consequently, the Consultant Chief of Tay Ninh found ways to make pressure to force Nhu Nhan Monk in asking for Go Ken pagoda back.

Concurrently, the colonial French incited Buddhists to hurriedly submit to expel the Caodaism Sacerdotal Council out of Go Ken pagoda. They purposefully made the Caodaism disciples fallen into the toxic and deep forest, poisonous atmosphere to be consumed strength gradually with poisonous intention of eradicating rebels raising in future. Facing on pressure of expelling out of Go Ken pagoda, while the Sacerdotal Council was worrying in moving, His Holiness CAODAISM GOD and His Holiness Ly Tai Pei descended to teach: “Sacerdotal Council, go to Ca Na pond, Long Thanh commune (Tay Ninh province) to find a land plot to build a Caodaism Holy See”. They were guided clearly by divine power, His Holiness Ho Phap and Elder Brother Chanh Phoi Su Thai Tho Thanh (Principal Archbishop of Buddhism branch) with other dignitaries on a car to the Ca Na pond. They were guided to buy a plot of land 96 hectares of wild forest of Mr. Aspar with a price 25,000 VND.

His Holiness Ly Tai Pei descended to teach: “Nowadays, I determined to leave Go Ken pagoda, you must return this pagoda to them. However, before returning to them, you must build a Temple completely as teaching. Disciples must unify to found a Holy See. Everything will be in Tay Ninh only because this place is spacious, this is contiguous to foreign countries”. The Sacerdotal Council immediately appointed His Holiness Cao Thuong Pham to mobilize workers and volunteers for building huts, cutting trees, pulling trees up of the 96 –hectare forest in daytime and night with no rest. With empty hands without implements, they had determination in ardour and the Caodaism Disciples leveled the 96-hectare wild forest within in 3 months with a provisional Holy See raising up gradually. Even the Holy See was built by woods, leaves, it still had enough high-sky Bell Tower, Drum Tower, Palace of Divine Alliance, Palace of Nine Divine Planes, Octogonal Divine Palace in a way of extraordinary, aesthetic architecture next to an area of natural forest. This made travelers surprised in front of a work due to the guidance of Divine Power during building to the time of completion. The provisional Caodaism Holy See was designed solemnly for human beings worshiping SUPREME BEING in a short time. This is due to the service of His Holiness Thuong Pham Cao Quynh Cu with ardour workers and volunteers that daytimes and nights they had to completed to meet the pressing wish of disciples under sunlight and dew.

In the independent circle of France in 1929, His Holiness Ho Phap could do an extraordinary and rare thing on the earth that he led the Caodaism delegation in finding Long Tuyen Kiem at Lan mountain and predicted solemnly that: “Vietnam race will have appearance of many talents, the slavish regime will be gradually removed to destroy the cang without dependence”. At that time, the declaration of His Holiness Ho Phap showed the patriotism heart in front of danger of colonial France that His Holiness never scared that danger.

On June 1927, His Holiness Ho Phap had a journey to Phnom Penh to help Elder Brother Thuong Bay Thanh founding the office of Overseas Sacerdotal Council on the Lalande De Callan street of Phnom Penh capital. Just in seven months in Phnom Penh, His Holiness Ho Phap held séance apparatus for Mr. Victor Hugo named Nguyet Tam Chon Chon. Later on, the Overseas Sacerdotal Council was led by Mr. Nguyet Tam Chon Nhon and He attracted some famous intellectuals in Cambodia adopting to Caodaism, that caused an attention of Cambodia government.

On 16th June 1928, the daily newspaper of France Les Annales Coloniales published an item of Parliamentarian Edward Neron, Nauteloire with information: “there will have a new king for Cambodia appearing in Tay Ninh”. With belief for news, Cambodian went to Tay Ninh Holy See fully about over 10,000 persons.

Mr. De La Brosse, the Governor of Southern Vietnam, he also represented for Monivong king of Cambodia. He and security officers of Southern Vietnam and police department cooperated together to go to Tay Ninh Holy See. The Governor the highest Dignitary His Holiness Quyen Giao Tong Thuong Trung Nhut (Le Van Trung) and forced to deny a denial news about Cambodia king who would appear in Tay Ninh and they forced that His Holiness Quyen Giao Tong Thuong Trung Nhut Le had to get the blame for complicated troubles happening. The order was carried out and there was no pity happening to impact on order.

This is the trick of colonial France in Cambodia because they knew that His Holiness Ho Phap went to Cambodia and preach Caodaism just in a short time, many intellectuals, personalities in Phnom Penh capital adopted to Caodaism on Cambodia land.

On 1st July 1931, the magazine Midi Colonial published a news: “one real danger for administration in Indochina region (Un Véritable danger pour la security de L1Indochine). After that, the Parliamentarian Erney Oustrey (Governor of Southern Vietnam) wrote an item on the magazine Midi Colonial dated 18th July 1931: “Dislike Caodaism, I have suggested many ways. However, until now, I can say that: wrong documentaries were excessive for them…that is the issue which made me have a tolerant attitude to let Caodaism be free in belief”. The origin of French: “C1est, ce qui m1a determine à leur declarer que jétais decide à réclamer en leur faveur un régime de liberté pour la Religion qú ils pratiquent). The Parliamentarian of Southern Vietnam of Colonial France such as Erney Oustrey was enough brave to acknowledge his mistake in the beginning time to cause many difficulties for Caodaism.

On 25th February 1932, His Holiness nominated a Caodaism Dignitary delegation to meet Mr. Erney Oustrey for his help to interfere to the French government so that the Caodaism Religion could be free in belief as his item published on the magazine Midi Colonial dated 18th July 1931.

Moreover, at that time, the colonial France intrigued in founding other Caodaismms branches such as: Thong Thien Dai, Dong Sen Temple, Hoa Dong Thuong. In Go Cong province included: Nguyen Trung Thanh, Le Quang Ho, Quach Van Nghia, Nguyen Van Nha, …They were supported to occupy Tay Ninh Holy See by France. They purposefully replaced some dignitaries of Hiep Thien Dai⁶. However, that scheme was prevented, the plan was fallen in front of reaction of Disciples at Holy Land of Tay Ninh Holy See. In addition, His Holiness had enough power to preserve the True Doctrine Law of Great Way-Third Period-Universal Salvation in front of the devil power encroaching Tay Ninh Holy See. Under the Divine Hand, people who lust for power with revenge were expelled out of Holy See. His Holiness had enough braveness to even the revenge to preserve the image of SUPREME BEING in love path and His Holiness had enough power to destroy scheme about a plan of organizing Caodaism Branches to occupy Holy See in disturbed campaign causing worries for Dignitaries of Holy Land in Tay Ninh Holy See. Besides, the colonial France also supported secretly for Giao Su Nguyen Phan Long leading Lien Hoa Tong Hoi⁷ Caodaism Branch to go to Tay Ninh Holy See to contact with powerful Dignitaries in order to convened Hoi Van Linh⁸ on 11st June 1933 to question and sentence His Holiness Quyen Giao⁹ Tong Thuong Trung Nhut and His Holiness Ho Phap Pham Cong Tac in front of attendance:

- Mr. Bonvicini, Opinion newspaper.

- Mr. Vabols, Courrier De Saigon newspaper.

- Reporter of Vietnam Touch Newspaper.

- Lawyer Diep Van Ky and Nguyen The Phuong.

Those poisonous schemes had not happened yet for true doctrine of SUPREME BEING, they suffered a defeat by Divine Power of SUPREME BEING with a person holding law solemnly such as His Holiness Ho Phap.

On 9th October Quy Dau year (26th November 1933), one more play happened. Under external support, Giao Huu¹⁰ Thuong Bo Thanh joined hands to canvass 800 “ghost” delegates to found Hoi Nhan Sanh¹¹ suddenly with a scheme to disturb when kowtowing SUPREME BEING. The Disciples detached not to let them enter Holy See, therefore 800 “ghost” delegates endured kowtowing on the yard to do rites even two persons Le Sanh (Student Priest of Taoism) Thuong Thich Thanh and Chanh tri Su (Principal Sub-dignitary) Nguyen Van Hoi helped with their enthusiasm, the doors of Tay Ninh Holy See were still close, therefore no ghost could enter the Holy See. Is it due to the Divine Order dated 28th July 1933 of Caodaism of Tay Ninh Holy See issued to stop power of two persons Dau Su Thuong Tuong Thanh (Cardinal of Taoism), Dau Su Ngoc Trang Thanh (Cardinal of Confucianism) and is it a reason that Priest Thuong Bo Thanh disturbed on 26th November 1933? The Student Priest Thuong Thich Thanh and Principal sub-dignitary Nguyen Van Hoi were pitiable victims under sorcerer hands inciting that all dignitaries and disciples in Holy Land of Tay Ninh Holy See always understood thoroughly. At that time, some Dignitaries of Hiep Thien Dai (Palace of Divine Alliance) left Tay Ninh Holy See to go to Saigon when the Caodaism was facing on trials and difficulties from colonial France. The internal Dignitaries of Caodaism were dispersed. His Holiness Ho Phap was still calm, brave to endure and steer the religious boat to overcome troubles. In spite of eastern or western storms, His Holiness still preserved the flag of Great Way. The power of Sacerdotal Council was not changed in front of pressure of Caodaism branches and colonial France trying to destroy severely the Tay Ninh Holy See by all methods. His Holiness disregarded all trials calmly as there was nothing happening to obey the order of His Holiness CAO DAI GOD completely in order to soon finish building the Holy See. Before, the Holy See had been stopped building for three times. His Holiness Ho Phap continued to build the Holy See fourth time.

First time, His Holiness gave an order to canvass 500 workers and volunteers. Especially, His Holiness asked them to “Take an oath” submitting to Sacerdotal Council that joiners, painter, masons and volunteers did not get married to maintain chastity during time of building the Holy See. His Holiness Ho Phap ordered to begin building the Holy See with pleasure of Sacerdotal Council and all male and female Disciples on 1st November Binh Ty year (14th December 1935). There was a worthily attentional point that for the work of Holy See, there was no anticipated fund, no designed diagram, no architect. It was just replied on guidance of His Holiness Ly Tai Pei descending to teach His Holiness Ho Phap for each part of Holy See, then His Holiness Ho Phap guided workers an volunteers. The Holy See was gradually completed. The Elder Sister Lam Huong Thanh spoke to His Holiness Ho Phap: “I tell you truly, I have nothing now”. After some minutes of thinking, the Elder Sister went right to a room to take a small iron box containing full gold and diamond inside (jewellery given by her mother and relative) and gave to His Holiness Ho Phap with speech: “You use it provisionally to build the Holy See”. If that jewellery of gold and diamond was pawned somewhere with an amount one hundred thousand VND. His Holiness Ho Phap thought that if this jewellery could be pawned, and when redeeming back, he did not know how to do that. They smiled together and the Elder Sister encouraged His Holiness Ho Phap: “There is the divine mystery of SUPREME BEING above. There is the belief of HIS male and female children. You try building the Holy See without this jewellery, believe in SUPREME BEING to continue to build if it can be successful”.

  His Holiness Ho Phap resigned to go back with empty hands, however His Holiness Ho Phap still believed in SUPREME BEING steadily to continue guiding workers for building each part of Holy See and His Holiness Ho Phap did not forget reminding that all Dignitaries and Workers had to use sparingly to take full advantage of piece of brick. Due to economy of using materials, it made Disciples have strong beliefs. Especially, compatriots of provinces with good heart enthusiastically contributed service and merit and unanimously took care of building the Holy See. This expressed the spirit of great unity, the absolute sacrifice because of MASTER, because of the Religion. All Dignitaries and Workers did not worried difficulties and privation of rice. They had to eat rice gruel and vegetables day by day with no moan, they determined to complete the Holy See soon in order satisfy the pressing wish of human beings waiting. 

Three years passed quickly, the work of building the Holy See was going to be complete, the Governor-General Pierre Pasquier gave an order to restrict the travel of Caodaism disciple, to restrict kowtowing to cause an impasse of preaching and to cause the difficulty in building the Holy See. In front of unjust actions of French government in Indochina, His Holiness Ho Phap and Sacerdotal Council sent the complaint right to Mr. Georges Mandel – Chief-General of Colonial Department to state the Caodaism issue repressed and persecuted and requested him to pay attention for these issues and permitted that Caodaism preached freely, freely built the Holy See and freely kowtowed under name Great Way-Third Period-Universal Salvation. His Holiness Ho Phap’s complaint was greatly effective. According to the Chief-General Georges Mandel’s approval, he ordered the Governor-General in Indochina in Vietnam to let Caodaism freely preach in free belief. However, at the back of his mind, it contained a profound danger that “for unsuccessful plan, set up other plan” to determined to destroy Caodaism in order satisfy his injure, then he was blamed by Chief-General Georges Mandel because of persecution for Caodaism. The Governor-General Pierre Pasquier used a secret ruse by using money to suborn some Writers ignoring their consciences, following up fame and wealth, writing untruth, vilifying, abusing Caodaism to cause a news of no advantage for Dignitaries and Disciples on over nation, they carried out to disturb the order of internal Caodaism Holy See of Tay Ninh purposefully. Besides, the Governor-General also secretly gave an order for his loyal inferior to spread rumour to reduce the prestige of Caodaism Dignitaries of Tay Ninh Holy See conclusively. They concurrently suborned some credulous Dignitaries due to personal interest and peace, then they vilified some Dignitaries operated politics against France by collecting some documentaries named “relate to politics” to enlarge in creating the secret documents including the documents of report of denouncing reaction in order to petition to French Government to eradicate Caodaism to prevent all future dangers. The vilified documents were taken to report to French Government by Governor-General Pierre Pasquier. Unluckily! The airplane taking wife and husband of Governor-General had burnt with those documents before landing the French airport. “Schemes due to man, success due to GOG”, that is the mystery in front of man’s eyes. If harming man, the GOD will harm, which one is better?”

It is thought that, Caodaism Religion did anything wrong while the Governor-General Pierre Pasquier purposefully repressed and destroy Caodaism, after all he had to endure a pitiful disaster. That is a fate for him because he created a bad seed, he had to received a bad result. The creator law is brilliant that no one can avoid that truth. The colonial French saw the death of Governor-General to draw a lesson in using power.

Under influence of two powers, Caodaism Disciples had to gradually left Religion to avoid difficulties in daily life. The Sacerdotal Council could contact with Disciples strictly as before. That was the secret attention of colonial French applied to divide the Great Way to cause the internal disorder of Dignitaries of Tay Ninh Holy See. However, the colonial French was erroneous and bitterly erroneous. The Caodaism Disciples accepted living peacefully and quietly in patience because they have ever acknowledged that the Caodaism was founded by the GOD, therefore there would have no power which could destroy it. If they were wise to leave their mistakes, they would be loved, in contrary, the events would happen according to natural law.

His Holiness shouldered bravely revenges to preserve the material image of SUPREME BEING on the earth, to carry out love completely. Whoever offended the Ambassadors of GOD would get a bad consequence.

On 19^th December 1931, the daily newspaper “Progrès Civique” smartly published on first pages: “After France, Germany has welcome Caodaism heartily, due to those reasons, we should not bump against them. That action is not only due to principles of humanity and respect for French Law, but also a wise path of politic because killing them only creates another more dangerous movement.

The French: “Après la France, LÁllemagne a été la premìere à faire un bon accueil au CAODAISME. Par consequent, il faut les laisser tranquilles, non pas seulement pour le principe par humanité et par le respect des lois francaises mais aussi par sagesse politique, parce que leun persecution ne pourrait que faire naitre un autre movement qui, lui, risquerait d1être dangerous”.

His Holiness Ho Phap often reminded Disciples: “The Caodaism can not be a tool, a chess of any body. The position of Caodaism is the eternal, perpetual position standing ahead and above to guide the earth, to guide human beings according to three standards: Mercy, Love, Justice.

His Holiness predicted the danger coming to Caodaism Sacerdotal Council of Tay Ninh Holy See. The time passed quickly. On 12^th June Canh Thin year (16 July 1940) His Holiness Ho Phap chose Elder Brother Bishop Thai Khi Thanh (Lam Tai Khi) to be on behalf of Him when His Holiness Ho Phap was absent. His Holiness taught morality and dark situation of Caodaism in the future and gave a guidance: “If the Sacerdotal Council unluckily faces on a danger, you¹² remember to raise the Religious Flag and Chinese Flag on offices and houses in inner Holy See of Tay Ninh. You represent Me to preserve the religious property”. His Holiness Ho Phap also handed over Elder Brother a Divine Order with a warm teaching: “When danger happening, you show this Divine Order” Among Dignitaries of Sacerdotal Council of Cuu Trung Dai (Palace of Nine Divine Planes), Hiep Thien Dai (Palace of Divine Alliance), Phuoc Thien (Charity Service), there were many Dignitaries who were more talented and moral than Elder Brother. As His Holiness Ho Phap could know that French Government would gradually arrest all close Dignitaries, He chose Elder Brother Bishop Thai Khi Thanh with Chinese nationality on behalf of Him because His Holiness predicted that Elder Brother Bishop Thai Khi Thanh would have a duty to welcome the Allied Delegation toward foremost President Tuong Gioi Thanh, a significant person of future allied delegation. His Holiness did not nominated Giao Su (Bishop) Thuong Vinh Thanh in this situation because of a future prediction that His Holiness knew future event for Great Way.

Moreover, Elder Brother Bishop Thai Khi Thanh was friendly acquainted with President Tuong Gioi Thach.

The Prediction of His Holiness Ho Phap Pham Cong Tac happened correctly. In 1946, the French Troop took advantage of occupied situation at Vietnam by the Allied Troop governed by United Kingdom Military Officer, the French Troop attacked and occupied Tay Ninh province. The sound of guns made Disciples at Holy Land of Tay Ninh Holy See worried. The attack killed two Caodaism Disciples and made some disciples injured.

Facing on violent attacks of French Troop, it made Disciples afraid to run into inner Holy See to seek shelter fully. For this reason, the Elder Brother Thai Khi Thanh and Si Tai (Archivist) Nguyen Huot Hai appeared with one Caodaism Flag and one Chinese Flag hung at the door of Institute of Conciliation of inner Holy See. Disciples did not understand what purpose the Elder Brother Bishop Thai Khi Thanh and Archivist Nguyen Huot Hai hung the flags. Those Flags were very useful because the gun sounds did not appear loudly any more into the inner Holy See. There were just some light and sparse sounds, this made Disciples believe in Divine Mystery protecting Disciples out of killing accident.

At that time, a Jeep car of French Troop came to the door of Institute of Conciliation while the Bishop Thai Khi Thanh and the Archivist Nguyen Huot Hai were waiting there.

The Jeep car stopped at the door of Institute of Conciliation, one French Officer came out and shaked hands with the Bishop Thai Khi Thanh and the Archivist Nguyen Huot Hai with a question: “Who is owner of Caodaism here?” The Elder Brother Thai Khi Thanh immediately answered: “I am a Bishop Thai Khi Thanh as an owner of Caodaism here”. This made the Archivist ponder to interpret for the French Major because the Archivist Hai has been living with the Elder Brother Bishop Thai Khi Thanh many years without hearing news from the Elder Brother Bishop Thai Khi Thanh about the Assigned Documentary issued by His Holiness Ho Phap for him to lead the Caodaism of Tay Ninh Holy See. At this time, he said that he had the Assigned Documentary issued by His Holiness Pham Ho Phap.

The Major asked: “Is there any documentary to prove that you are the owner of Caodaism of Tay Ninh Holy See?”

The Bishop Thai Khi Thanh answered: “I have enough documents assigned by His Holiness Ho Phap Pham Cong Tac, the Head of Caodaism of Tay Ninh Holy See so that I may lead the Caodaism when His Holiness is absent”. The Elder Brother Bishop Thai Khi Thanh’s reply made the Archivist Hai very surprised. However, the Archivist Hai still interpreted same to the speech of Bishop Thai Khi Thanh so that the French Major could hear clearly.

Bishop Thai Khi Thanh returned Inner Holy See to take the Assigned Documentary to submit to the French Major.

Seeing the Elder Brother Bishop Thai Khi Thanh going hurriedly to the Inner Holy See, the French Major followed and invited Bishop Thai Khi Thanh to the car. They went together on the car. The French Major was very tender that the Major stopped the car, then invited the Bishop Thai Khi Thanh, then drove the car by himself and sat equally. The French diver sat with the Archivist Hai behind.

When going to the office, the Bishop Thai Khi Thanh came out hurriedly and called: “is there any one to take me a knife?”. It caused a fear for the Archivist Nguyen Huot Hai that why the Bishop Thai Khi Thanh wanted to do with noisy sound to need a knife. Luckily, the Major and driver did not understand Vietnamese because they were Frenches, no trouble happened.

The Gentle Brother Bishop Thai Khi Thanh immediately opened the room door, took a pillow and cut out to take an envelope containing the Divine Order of ASSIGNMENT signed by His Holiness Pham Ho Phap.

The Archivist Nguyen Huot Hai became secure when seeing the signature of His Holiness HO PHAP with a stamp. He happily interpreted the Divine Order to the French Major correctly.

When the French Major saw the Divine Order of assignment of His Holiness Pham Ho Phap signed to confirm that the Bishop Thai Khi Thanh was the Leader of Caodaism of Tay Ninh Holy See, he shaked hands happily with the Bishop.

On 16^th June 1940, the Governor-General of Indochina Decoux gave an order to the colonial French to close the Tay Ninh Holy See and Caidai Temples on over nation. They also published news that the detective soildiers of French would arrest His Holiness Ho Phap. Their intention was to “entice the tiger leaving mountain” to purposefully make Disciples worried so that Disciples petitioned to His Holiness to leave Holy See and to hide other place so. Due to respectful heart to His Holiness, many people advised His Holiness to leave the Holy See provisionally. His Holiness Ho Phap answered happily: “I thank you for your worry for Me but I can not hide. I am a head of Caodaism Sacerdotal Council of Tay Ninh, I am enough brave to accept and wait for attitude, action of French violence for Me. The SUPREME BEING asked me to sit here, to stay here, to live or die I still stay here to embrace HIS legs even this carnal body can be destroyed in order to preserve the National Religion, I will not leave here a half of step”. How noble! With a steady belief, a firm and brilliant spirit in ignoring all dangers coming from any where, His Holiness was still calm that there was nothing happening.

After His Holiness Quyen Giao Tong Thuong Trung Nhut departed the life on 19 November 1934, there were many troubles continuously happening in the inner Sacerdotal Council. The other Caodaism Branches went to Tay Ninh Holy See under the support of colonial French, they overpowered the Sacerdotal Council about many aspects, however His Holiness Ho Phap still operated the Boat of Great Way calmly to overcome all obstacles until the day that the Sacerdotal Council of Cuu Trung Dai (Palace of Nine Divine Planes) and Assembly of All Creatures suggested His Holiness Ho Phap Pham Cong Tac to supremely govern Two Material Palaces: Hiep Thien Dai (Palace of Divine Alliance) and Cuu Trung Dai on 6^th November Giap Tuat year (12^th December 1934). In the stage of obstacle, the Sacerdotal Council was divided seriously because the colonial French incited and support Caodaism Branches.

One clear memory of 14 May Tan Ty year (4^th June 1941), the French Investigators entered the Inner Holy See to arrest His Holiness Ho Phap Pham Cong Tac then to take to Girinh (Central part of Vietnam). On 17 June Tan Ty year (11^th July 1941), French Investigators suddenly broke into the Inner Holy See second time to arrest Great Brother Khai Phap Tran Duy Nghia (Juridical Reformer), the Quyen Thai Chanh Phoi Su Thai Phan Thanh (Interim Principal Archbishop of Buddhism Branch), Quyen Ngoc Chanh Phoi Su Ngoc Trang Thanh (Interim Principal Archbishop of Saint Branch), Bishop Thai Gam Thanh, Si Tai Do Quang Hien (Archivist) then to take to Saigon and confined. Until 27^th July 1941, Five Great and Friendly Dignitaries of Pham Ho Phap could meet His Holiness Ho Phap on the way to seaway vessel at the Nha Rong port with 12 Political Prisoners to increase 18 Political Prisoners. They were taken to Madagascar in Africa. After many days on the sea, 18 Political Prisoners were taken to Comores prison belonging Northern Madagascar and they met 11 Vietnam Political Prisoners. Totally, there were 29 persons including Communist Party Members accept for Nguyen The Truyen, Nguyen The Song belonging International Members and 6 Caodaism Dignitaries.

The French Governor-General of Indochina imperiously declared to the Press Reporters: “Should I have listed them to the Holy Martyr, by the an occasion of a vessel of Station Soldiers Diogo Saury of Madagascar, I send Mr. Pham Cong Tac and His retinue to reside eternally!” The satirized and haughty speech of French Governor in Indochina obviously revealed the real nature of destroying policy toward Caodaism Religion that 6 Dignitaries mentioned were victims.

The daily life of 29 Vietnam Political Prisoners at the Noay Leva Comorres prison contained the humanity without discrimination about Religion, Party. They just considered together as miserable persons under French Colony Governor. However, in the dependent prison, their spirits became nervous with discussions about Nation-Communist, but everything ended under an affable concession well.

The world situation changed rapidly. In 1942, this number of Political Prisoners was changed into the South of Madagascar. The Chief of Prison, Major Freydier took 27 prisoners (two persons died) on the truck to leave the Noay Leva Comorres from the North to South of Madagascar in six days of daytime and night under fearsomeness. Two trucks carried 27 Vietnam Political prisons. They had to cross a river by a ferry-boat to coffee and sugar cane plantation of Frenches to stop at the Voutrouzou prison. The Major Preydier ordered 27 Political Prisoners to enter the Voutrouzou of Southern Madagascar. The life seemed better than the Noay Leva Comorres prison of Northern Madagascar.

On January of 1943, the Major Freydier welcomed the United Kingdom Officer Delegation visiting the Communist Political prison with the friendly welcome of Party Members of Communist within one hour. In addition, 4 Party Members le giang, hoang huu nam, dinh cong hoat and nguyen van ngoc left the Voutrouzou prison.

The international situation changed rapidly. The French Governor exiled under the de gaulle Leader handing over the Madagascar Isle to United Kindom Government.

Under the United Kindom Government, the daily life of 27 Vietnam prisons became better than French Government.

Soviet Union drove Germany out Leninggrad. After three weeks, one Allied Military Delegation under the Delegation Chief of United Kingdom Officer went to the Voutrouzou prison and kindly contacted the Members of Communist such as Le Giang, Hoang Huu Nam, Nguyen Van Ngoc, Dinh Cong Hoat. The meeting between the Allied Military Troop and 4 Communists at the Voutrouzou prison lasted 4 hours with a seminar. The Allied Military Troop went back with 4 Political Prisoners Le Giang, Hoang Huu Nam, Nguyen Van Ngoc, Dinh Cong Hoat.

Four Communists Le Giang, Hoang Huu Nam, Nguyen Van Ngoc, Dinh Cong Hoat were taken to learn a Military Course at the Calcutta in India by the Allied Military Troop. These members were taken to the Indochina in September 1944 by the Allied Military Troop, in order to parachute suddenly to the War Zone of Cao Bang province of Northern Vietnam to contact with the French Resistance against the Japanese Fascist with a purpose releasing French Soldiers kept at the war zone of Cao Bang province by the Japanese Troop.

Later on, it was known that the Party Member Le Quang was assigned as a first Director of People Police of Ho Chi Minh Government. It was also said that Mr. Le giang was promoted to the French Highest Member of Vietnam – Democracy – Republic.

Among 27 Political Prisoners living at the Voutrouzou prison, His Holiness Ho Phap Pham Cong Tac was an affectionate person because His Holiness Ho Phap had many initiatives helping Compatriots of Madagascar still living backward without knowledge of using the rice motor as used in Vietnam conveniently. They stopped way of old way used by Madagascar Compatriots.

The Madagascar Compatriots were in drought danger toward dry wells, His Holiness Ho Phap showed the Compatriots with method of taking water from revulet by bamboo culinders joined at mountain side right into their village. They could overcome the drought.

The Madagascar Compatriots had been living the regime of French Domination and at the moment, the United Kingdom was administrating. For that reason, the Provisional Government of Madagascar sympathized 23 Vietnam prisoners in Madagascar very much. They wanted these persons to return Vietnam soon with their family. Therefore, the Minister of Diplomatic Department of Madagascar used to mention and remind the French Ambassador at Madagascar to take car of means for 23 Political Prisoners to leave Madagascar as soon as possible.

Until midyear of 1946, there was a French business vessel arrived at the Military Port Diego Saurez to take 23 Political Prisoners to Vietnam.

His Holiness Ho Phap’s sufferings at that time was about His 6 junior Dignitaries exiled at MADAGASCAR in 1941. When going back to Vietnam, 4 juniors could go back, other Bishop Thai Gam Thanh and Archivist Do Quang Hien died in strange land with their bone at the Madagascar Isle.

The business vessel taking 23 Political Prisoners just arrived at the Saint Jacques (Nowadays, it is Vung Tau), the French Government of Cap-Saint-Jacques province went to reach the station to welcome His Holiness HO PHAP for mainland. 22 Political Prisoners were taken to Nha Rong Station of Saigon.

His Holiness HO PHAP took a rest for three days to wait the Saigon airplane to take His Holiness HO PHAP from Vung Tau to Saigon discreetly without information for SACERDOTAL COUNCIL and Disciples. However, the SACERDOTAL COUNCIL got news and immediately appointed some Dignitaries to go to Saigon welcome His Holiness HO PHAP coming back. His Holiness HO PHAP resided provisionally at the Archivist NGUYEN VAN HOI’s house.

The FRENCH Government worried much that Caodaism Disciple would demonstrate against FRANCE when His Holiness went back to Saigon. Therefore, they discreetly took His Holiness HO PHAP to the personal house of Archivist NGUYEN VAN HOI at the Colonee Grimand street (Peaceful Market, Saigon).

Hearing sound of car in front of house, the Dignitaries welcoming His Holiness HO PHAP, appointed by SACERDOTAL COUNCIL ran out to meet His Holiness HO PHAP. TEACHER and STUDENTS embraced each other happily in drops of tear without speaking in touched passion after 5 year, 3 months, 2 days.

His Holiness stayed provisionally at the Archivist NGUYEN VAN HOI’s house to wait the Elephant Voyage (there was only one voyage from Saigon to Tay Ninh celebrated by FRENCH Troop) to go with the FRENCH Troop because on the way from Saigon to Tay Ninh, Viet Minh often stopped and burned cars continuously.

His Holiness HO PHAP went back to Tay Ninh Holy See on 22 June 1946 welcome by Dignitaries and Disciples fully after many distant years. At the Central Temple of Tay Ninh Holy See, seeing compatriots and disciples living under two dangers of FRANCE and Viet Minh with intermediate Caodaism Soldiers made His Holiness very broken-hearted. When His Holiness went back Tay Ninh Holy See, ten thousand Disciples, male and female Dignitaries and Caodaism Troop welcomed His Holiness Ho Phap solemnly. His Holiness moaned that: “lack 1 year, 10 month, maybe the suffering of Vietnam race ends, we can not change the law of divine justice. That is a certain thing”.

Whole Sacerdotal Council and Disciples could not understand thoroughly the “prediction” about fortune of Vietnam after 5 years, 3 months, 2 days in prison in Madagascar of Africa. Did His Holiness Ho Phap predict for Sacerdotal Council, Dignitaries, male and female Disciples to know that: His Holiness will have to endure one more suffering in exile and will the carnal body in foreign country as Van Vuong had to endure the suffering accident in 7 year in Vu Ly and founded Chau dynasty. On 16^th February 1956, His Holiness had to endure one more suffering accident, His Holiness volunteered secretly left the Tay Ninh Holy See with some confidential dignitaries to go to Cambodia where His Holiness has ever suggested the Policy of “Coexist peacefully” to harmonize two parties Communism and Capitalism that both of them were children of SUPREME BEING, they had to soon love together and yielded in brothers relation. His Holiness did so and departed the life on 17^th May 1959 with His last words: “I endure the situation of national division of Southern and Northern Vietnam, I have predicted already, what needs to happen will happen, the motherland is not still in union, there is nothing to return hurriedly. Therefore, be calm to wait a distance to see the divine mechanism changing, making advantage for Vietnam about Spirit aspect”.

It is thought that over 50 years, His Holiness Ho Phap taught: recommend all dignitaries and male and female disciples to love and unite together, behave fairly to preserve the work of real Great Way. His prediction is forever remembered in mind of each Caodaism disciple eternally…The main purpose of Caodaism is to take care of freedom, happiness for all people. For that noble reason, His Holiness has sacrificed. Due to unfairness, SUPREME BEING descended in a séance to teach: “whenever unfairness still happens on this earth, the Religion is not complete yet”.

  Conscience is the principle for all.
  
• 
  Have filial piety to God and the Holy Mother.

  Faith and wisdom are the most valuable treasure;
  anything else is wasteful.
  
• 
  Those who hate their enemies 
  cannot be calm and impartial persons.
  
• 
  Those who do not hate will win over their enemies.
  
• 
  Hatred is the greatest sorrow of human beings. 
  Therefore, a true person (good person) never thinks of it or avoids it.
  
• 
  Overcome your anger so that you do not enrage others.
  
• 
  Use good to overcome evil.
  
• 
  Use kindness to overcome cruelty.
  
• 
  Be generous to overcome selfishness.
  
• 
  Use right to overcome wrong.
  
• 
  That is the Magic Sword of Wisdom.

  Eat pure food.
  
• 
  Think pure thoughts.
  
• 
  Have a strong faith in God and the Holy Mother.
  
• 
  Love immensely.
  
• 
  All this is the key to open the door of BAT-QUAI-DAI¹³ rightly in this earthly life.
  

On the Great Ceremony of SUPREME BEING, 9 January Dinh Hoi year (1947), His Holiness solemnly reminded Dignitaries and taught disciples: “Do not let foreigners enter the inner power of Vietnam to avoid the situation of mutually fighting, it will become an article for powerful countries exchanging”. His Holiness Ho Phap expressed the affection for pressure of parties, His Holiness Ho Phap taught: “Ho Chu Tich fights, I recall, one person fights, one recalls, Vietnam country will be determinedly independent and free”. With non-violence policy “no fighting, success comes naturally”, His Holiness always explained for Dignitaries and Disciples about non-violence path maintaining a speciality without making any one roused. The path of non-violence of Grandhi Saint sometimes made British angry. The Caodaism Disciples always remember the teaching of His Holiness Ho Phap: “I always solve the situation of country by armed force but the moral method must be applied to create the peaceful happiness for race”.

It is considered for first agreement on 6th March 1945 signed between Ho Chu Tich and Sainterry, the French Government did not solve sincerely the problem of Vietnam at the Agreement, the French Government should have discussed with the government of Republic Democratic Vietnam leaded by Ho Chi Minh, and should have held at Paris but the French Government avoided to hold at Foutainebleau for discussion and the Foutainebleau agreement was signed on 14 September 1946 between Chief-General of foreign department Mr. Marius Noutet and Ho Chi Minh of government of Republic Democratic Vietnam. In next step, the French Government ordered the French troop in Vietnam to attack to “appropriate” Hai Phong on 11^th November 1946 causing a pitiful situation toward Vietnamese compatriots. Until 19^th December 1946, at 8am, the gunfire of general attack of Viet Minh begun to happen on over nation. The pitiful situations happened to Caodaism Disciples that they were reacted cruelly by French troop and the order of “scorched-earth resistance” was enforced.

His Holiness could not keep silent facing on the gunfire of France and Viet Minh fighting, His Holiness Ho Phap sent a Letter to President Ho Chi Minh to re-consider the order of “scorched-earth resistance” because the China was a large country with crowed citizens, Vietnam was very narrow. On 12^th August Dinh Hoi year (1947), His Holiness Ho Phap visited Truong Qui Thien¹⁵ (Tri Giac Cung¹⁶) managed by Elder Brother Dinh Cong Tru. His Holiness Ho Phap saw a white flag hung on the palace, His Holiness Ho Phap immediately explained for Elder Brother Dinh Cong Tru: “the meaning of white flag is the symbol of peace, however the white flag is only used when the races in a nation fight together violently without method of solving, the flag in that situation should be used to be suitable in its meaning”.

His Holiness reminded the history of Nhan Hoi named Nhan Uyen, the student of Confucius so that the Elder Brother Manager of Qui Thien School could understand more about the meaning of white flag. The white flag at the Qui Thien school was lowered. About that history of Nhan Uyen, He held the white flag to rush into the battlefield in order to explain two parties about good, reality to help two parties understand thoroughly the moral principle so that they pulled back their troop to avoid disaster of destroying mutually for human beings. His Holiness Ho Phap wanted to repeat the theory of Nhan Hoi to teach Elder Brother Dinh Cong Cu, the Manager of Qui Thien School. That was also a prediction for the future. After Génève Agreement 20^th July 1954 had not been carried out strictly, His Holiness Ho Phap initiated a Political Grogram of Policy of “Coexist Peacefully” dated 26^th March 1956. His Holiness Ho Phap ordered the Lieutenant-Colonel Le Van Thoai (At the present, he is Huu Phan Quan of Palace of Divine Alliance) (footnote: In the Palace of Divine Alliance, there are two Dignitaries holding two religious flags named Ta Phan Quan and Huu Phan Quan. The meaning of “Huu Phan Quan” is the person holding the flag on the right. He holds the Thuong Pham (Director of Religious Affair) flag. Therefore, Ta Phan Quan is the dignitary holding the Thuong Sanh (Director of Secular Affair) flag on the left) guided a delegation taking the white flags into the second span of Hien Luong bridge (Ben Hai) belonging to 17th parallel which is the boundary dividing the South and North of Vietnam, in order to hang the white flag to appeal the governments of two regions of North and South not to “obey” the foreign influences inciting for pitiful fight as Nguyen King and Trinh King fought together formerly. On 17th January 1949, His Holiness Ho Phap sent a letter: 115/HP-TTVP to the French Ambassador in Indochina and Top-Ranking General Blaizot – the Generalissimo of French Troop of Indochina so that they could know the Neutral Path of Caodaism. The letter content: “…Our attendance of Caodaism Troop organizations is in the necessary stage. We will follow the Neutral Path, and that is our standpoint. We let the French Troop freely decide the date and time that we hand over weapons. We hope it can be carried out as soon as possible. For Resistance Viet Minh, that belongs to our internal issue of Vietnamese by our methods…”

Due to patriotism and love of people, due to perish and peace of fatherland and race, His Holiness Ho Phap could not be calm to let foreign countries intrigue imposing and trampling compatriots. Therefore, after hearing Viet Minh signing the agreement for dividing the Vietnam Map in two in Geneve Agreement 1954 with 17^th parallel as a border, His Holiness Ho Phap immediately wrote a letter without seal to the President Ho Chi Minh in order to state the opinion and to tell that Vietnam could not be divided in two, all national citizens did not endure the civil war imposed by foreign countries like the civil war of Nguyen King and Trinh King happening before. With serious mission assigned by His Holiness Caodaism, His Holiness Ho Phap had a special mission how to remove the domination for race and to preserve the Vietnam Map. 

His Holiness Ho Phap has known the intrigue of foreign countries in imposing the division in two of Vietnam in advance. Therefore, on the fifteenth of April Giap Ngo (17^th May 1954), at the pulpit of Holy See, His Holiness gravely received responsibility to guide the Dignitary and Disciple delegation as a Mediation Professor for two parties of Communism and Capitalism competing the ruler power under a death-feud. His Holiness Ho Phap sent a message “resistance” to Mr. Tu Cuong at the Geneve Agreement. This was enough to prove the patriotic heart, the love for race of a Religious Leader – the Saviour of Third Period with full humanity, with care of seeking methods to save the human beings enthusiastically in general, to save Vietnam race in personal aspect. Actually, the Neutral Theory for Vietnam initiated by Caodaism was not a simple issue at that time for French Government absolutely destroying the Communist. 

It was thought that in the beginning of 1949, His Holiness Ho Phap sent a official letter to express to French Ambassador and Top-Ranking General Blaizot clearly about the Neutral Path of Caodaism in future by returning weapon of Caodaism Troop as soon as possible, this also proved that the innate Neutral standpoint and it was an action taking much danger. 

Receiving the news France and Viet Minh under the pressure of foreign countries for dividing Vietnam in two at the Geneve Agreement, His Holiness Ho Phap immediately sent a message of “resistance” to Mr. Tu Cuong staying at Geneve Agreement that Foreign Countries trespassed the power of Vietnam to divide Vietnam in two purposefully. Before sending to Tu Cuong, His Holiness Ho Phap had good intention for President Ngo Dinh Diem signing on the message, however President Ngo Dinh Diem replied to His Holiness by a correspondence that he asked His Holiness to sign to send, he could not sign on the same message with His Holiness. 

The Caodaism disciple cannot forget the prediction and teaching of His Holiness Ho Phap: “SUPREME BEING comes this earth to found a True Religion in Indochina in order to essentially make victimized people strong, to make good man be a boss of cruel man. That is the divine justice of Creator. Preserve the morality steadily, whatever is contrary to the true doctrine is the scheme of devil. After punishment, the reward comes, that is the natural thing. SUPREME BEING lets they enjoy the result seeded and fertilized by their work. When understand thoroughly, the punishment is the reward, the reward is the punishment. In general, everything goes under the principle, what we seed, we will collect its result. 

With Caodaism, the harmony is the guideline, the fight is the purpose to be ruined. Therefore, His Holiness Ho Phap often reminded “Dignitaries and male and female Disciples should raise the saving flag of “no fight, success comes naturally”. Whenever the male and female Sacerdotal Council still think of Me, I just petition for one thing that you unify strength together to keep all political Religion bodies in order to change the world. But alas! The Sacerdotal Council does not undertake its function. How is this serious disaster solved just with some positions of Palace of Nine Divine Planes? Is that teaching a prediction for Caodaism fate in future?

On 18^th April Giap Ngo year (20^th May 1954), His Holiness Ho Phap guided a dignitary delegation of Sacerdotal Council of Tay Ninh Holy See departing from the Tan Son Nhat airport (Saigon) at 9am to go to Paris to discuss with French President René Coty at the Elysées palace. The Caodaism Sacerdotal Council delegation took a rest at the Georges V. hotel where His Holiness Ho Phap kept company with many Vietnamese and French statesmen coming to inquire His Holiness Ho Phap’s health in friendly and sympathized relation. At 14pm of 24^th May 1954, the Prisedent Laniel kept company and discussed friendly with His Holiness Ho Phap at theMatignon Palace of Paris.

At 15pm of 27^th May 1954, the Minister Mecheri on behalf of French President Réne Coty went right to the Georges V. hotel to welcome His Holiness Ho Phap and forwarded the invitation of President that at 18pm 30’ of 28^th May 1954, the President Réne Coty would see His Holiness Ho Phap at the Elysées palace.

In the afternoon, His Holiness Ho Phap and retinue left the Georges V. hotel to go to Elysées palace, they were welcomed deeply by Ministry Mecheri with the protocol of national visitor, then to invite His Holiness Ho Phap and delegation to residence of Elysées palace.

The sound of clock on the wall gave signal 18:30pm, the President Réne Coty stepped into the living room to shake hands with His Holiness Ho Phap and retinue. The President concurrently invited his fellow-workers at the President Palace to introduce themselves one by one to the Dignitary delegation.

The discussion happened friendly. The President Réne Coty promised with His Holiness Ho Phap that he would discuss with Prime Minister Laniel in order to soon sign a France-Vietnam agreement to hand over the independence for Vietnam country.

After meeting and friendly discussion, the President invited His Holiness Ho Phap and delegation to go to a party room for a vegetarian meal. The vegetarian meal at the President Palace went warmly and friendly within one hour. This was an unique for President Réne Coty to know Caodaism more clearly, a Religion founded in Vietnam country in 1926.

Even the Prime Minister had been reminded by President, the Prime Minister Laniel was smart to purposefully delay to wait 5^th May Giap Ngo year (4^th June 1954), the birthday of His Holiness Ho Phap, the Prime Minister Laniel signed two agreements for returning the independent sovereignty for Vietnam country to the Prime Minister Buu Loc belonging the government of Republic Vietnam.

At 19pm at night of 4^th June 1954, Vietnamese and French visitors went in succession to attend the birthday of His Holiness Ho Phap held at the Georges V. hotel. The Prime Minister Laniel stated to His Holiness Ho Phap that he had signed two agreements for returning the independent sovereignty for Vietnam country as promise of President Rén Coty at the Elys ées 28^th May 1954 and he also formulated to His Holiness Ho Phap: the reason of signing agreement for returning the returning the independent sovereignty for Vietnam country happened lately because the French Government wanted to give a “souvenir” to welcome the birthday of His Holiness Ho Phap. That diplomatic method of French Government was very delicate for Caodaism Leader, the person was ominous with a theory “No fight, success comes naturally”.

The political situation of Vietnam was very ungrateful at that moment. The foreign countries were going to divide Vietnam in two at the Génève Agreement. His Holiness Ho Phap acknowledged that the America would replace France but it was still in stage of discussion to let Ngo Dinh Diem replacing Prime Minister Buu Loc with Colonel Edward Lansdale (America would take consultant role for Ngo Dinh Diem in future) was ordered secretly to stop all schemes of France in Vietnam and Ngo Dinh Diem would returned to Saigon 1025^th June 1954. His Holiness Ho Phap was still visiting palaces in Paris capital, His Holiness received the news that foreign countries were planning to divide Vietnam in two at the Geneve Agreement. His Holiness Ho Phap worried Vietnam race enduring suffering of division into South and North by Trinh King and Nguyen King, His Holiness Ho Phap and retinue left Paris by two Simca cars to go to Geneve to know the reality of event. When the cars of delegation reached the Switzerland locality, Nguyen An My, a child of Mr. Nguyen An Ninh was waiting to welcome His Holiness Ho Phap and delegation to guide to the Régina hotel. Nguyen An My left delegation to go back Versoix office to report.

Within one hour, Nguyen An My guided Mr. Tran Thanh Ha, the General Secretary of delegation of Republic Democratic Vietnam going to Régina hotel to welcome His Holiness Ho Phap and forwarded the inviting His Holiness Ho Phap and delegation to go to Versoix office.

According to Mr. Tran Thanh Ha’s invitation, the Elder Brother Bao Dao Ho Tan Khoa¹⁷ went to the Versoix office under welcome of Major-General Thanh Son (He was Nguyen Van Tay, a military member of delegation of Republic Democratic Vietnam) with attendance of Lawyer Pahn Anh, Doctor Le Van Chanh. The unique meeting of Major-General Thanh Son and Bao Dao Ho Tan Khoa happened after many years from 1945 at Chau Doc base of Western South of Vietnam, they suddenly met together in foreign country. The Major-General Thanh Son and Elder Brother Bao Dao (Religious Conservator) felt touched and embraced together warmly with drops of tears.

It was not incidental for meetings discussed and contacted between 2 delegations: The Government of Republic Democratic Vietnam and Caodaism Delegation on 28^th June 1954 under Lawyer Phan Anh and Elder Brother Bao Dao Leaders of delegations. These meetings were held carefully by Mr. Tran Thanh Ha, Nguyen An My by smartly inviting Caodaism delegation at the La Perle Du Lac park to take to Versoix office in order to avoid being monitored by latent Polices of Switzerland.

The Caodaism Delegation and Delegation of Republic Democratic Vietnam continuously spent effervescent meetings from 28^th June 1954 to 5^th July 1954. However, the core was not revealed that the delegation of Republic Democratic Vietnam of Hanoi just discussed with the boss of Southern Vietnam named French only, not to know the attendance of Doctor Tran Van Do – the delegation Leader of Republic Vietnam Government of Saigon. Therefore, in one continuous week for discussion between two parties of Republic Democratic Vietnam Delegation and Caodaism Delegation did not collect any hopeful result. His Holiness Ho Phap assigned Lawyer Tran Van Tuyen and Major-General Pham Xuan Thai to choose an opulent restaurant to invite the Republic Democratic Vietnam Delegation taking a friendly meal in order to repay the Hanoi Delegation inviting Caodaism Delegation for previous meetings at the Versoix office.

Mr. Tran Thanh Ha, the Contact General Secretary of Republic Democratic Vietnam Delegation went to Régina hotel to visit His Holiness Ho Phap to stated that Prime Minister Pham Van Dong and Republic Democratic Vietnam Delegation were not convenient to attend outer party out of Versoix hotel and asked His Holiness Ho Phap’s sympathy then also forwared the invitation of Prime Minister Pham Van Dong to His Holiness Ho Phap to attend the a friendly meal with Prime Minister at the Versoix office. His Holiness Ho Phap expressed thanks and denied the meal but accepted to discuss with Prime Minister Pham Van Dong at 19pm of 5^th July 1954 at the Versoix office (Le Cèdre hotel was for Hanoi delegation, arranged by Switzerland Government).

In order to avoid the watch of Switzerland Special Police, His Holiness Ho Phap and retinue left Régina hotel by two carriages for La Perle Du Lac park, two cars of Tran Thanh Ha and Nguyen An My were ready to invite the delegation to go to Versoiz office. Two cars had just stopped at the Versoiz office at 21pm of 5^th July 1954, the rain started to drop. However, the Prime Minister Pham Van Dong and Hanoi Government Delegation went right to car to welcome His Holiness Ho Phap friendly. The Prime Minister Pham Van Dong embraced His Holiness Ho Phap and guided whole delegation to the living room of Versoiz office. The Prime Minister Pham Van Dong stayed on the same long chair right to portrait of President Ho Chi Minh. Mr. Lawyer Phan Anh sat on the right of His Holiness Ho Phap’s right hand, Mr. Viet Phuong sat to write shorthand and report after back of Lawyer Phan Anh. Mr. Bao The¹⁸ Le Thien Phuoc sat on the left of Prime Minister Pham Van Dong’s left hand. People sitting around and contrarily the chair of His Holiness Ho Phap and Prime Minister Pham Van Dong included: Tran Cong Cuong, Minister of Industrial and Trade Department, Doctor Le Van Chanh, Religious Conservator Ho Tan Khoa, Tran Thanh Ha, Nguyen An My, Major-General Pham Xuan Thai, Lawyer Tran Van Tuyen (later, Deputy Prime Minister of South).

To begin the meeting, His Holiness Ho Phap said: “The compatriots are very grateful to Viet Minh’s resistance but the liberation of Vietnam must be complete, must not be accepted expelling French to invite Chinese, Russian. This is same to removing a cang to get other chain. All citizens will examine this!” The Prime Minister Pham Van Dong replied: “We know that clearly and that thing never happens…”. His Holiness Ho Phap also stated clearly to Prime Minister Pham Van Dong that: “The French can not stay here forever for carrying out Geneve Agreement, the American will replace the French, no matter what the Doctor Tran Van Do, the delegation head of Southern Vietnam Government is also a part of Southern Vietnam Government at this time. The problem of Vietnam must be solved by Vietnamese. The discussion of two Governments of Northern-Southern Vietnam is better than the direct discussion toward French delegation”. That is the hearty speeches of His Holiness Ho Phap for the disadvantage reality of compatriots, race expressed to Prime Minister Pham Van Dong and Northern Government at Geneve Agreement at night of 5^th July 1954.

The conference happened in open-hearted atmosphere. Before ending, the Prime Minister Pham Van Dong invited His Holiness Ho Phap and Caodaism Sacerdotal Council delegation to have a vegetarian rice-gruel and pastry in next room. At the friendly party, His Holiness Ho Phap said to Prime Minister: “Ban Dao¹⁹ have built a Family Temple of Pham surname at Tay Ninh Holy See, when everything is peaceful, you remember to go there!” The Prime Minister smiled and replied: “Yes, at that time, I will go there”.

Before His Holiness Ho Phap and delegation said goodbye to leave, the Prime Minister Pham Van Dong had embraced His Holiness Ho Phap warmly and friendly. The delegation left the Versoioz office by car to go back Regina hotel about 24am.

At 9am of 6^th July 1954, the deputy leader of French delegation at Geneve Agreement visited His Holiness Ho Phap at the Regina hotel, during one hour of discussion, he also forwarded the invitation of Mr. Chevaul – leader of French delegation toward His Holiness Ho Phap and Caodaism delegation about taking a vegetarian meal at 12pm. According the invitation, His Holiness Ho Phap and delegation were entertained very friendly by Mr. Chevaul, therefore His Holiness Ho Phap revealed that: “Last night, I discussed with Prime Minister Pham Van Dong in open-minded and understandable spirit. Concurrently, His Holiness also cleverly reminded Mr. Chevaul: “NE MEITES PAS VOS DOGIGIS DANS LE PANIER DES CRABES”. And then His Holiness explained very profoundly: Our trouble of Vietnam is very difficult, very delicate. Our French should not interfere our inner problem of Vietnam. If you do, it is not different from putting hands in a crab basket, you will be clamped surely by crab and you will never pull your hands back”. Mr. Chevaul paid an attention and thanked His Holiness Ho Phap and promised to forward the political warning to French Government (Paris) in order to learn more from experience about issue of Vietnam.

There was an unique event happening in the second meeting of Geneve Agreement at 15pm of 6^th July 1954, Mr. Bao The (Secular Conservator) Le Thien Phuoc was assigned by His Holiness Ho Phap to attend the meeting to know more situation in the conference. According to normal meetings, Mr. Bao The (Secular Conservator) Le Thien Phuoc wears the religious dress of Dignitary of Palace of Divine Alliance, as meetings at Versoiz office. However, on that day of attending Geneve Agreement, especially, His Holiness Ho Phap permitted Mr. Secular Conservator to wear the western clothes. That was the first time that there was a Caodaism dignitary attending the Geneve Agreement as a participator wearing the western clothes. Therefore, the organization board arranged a seat for Mr. Secular Conservator next to the delegation of Southern Vietnam Government. It was thought that from the opening time of Geneve Agreement with many meetings, but two Government delegations of Southern and Northern Vietnam never greeted together except for unknown attitude. On that day, Mr. Secular Conservator , a great Dignitary of Caodaism attending the meeting sat next to Doctor Tran Van Do, the delegation leader of Southern Vietnam Government. When the Northern Delegation of Vietnam under guidance of Prime Minister Pham Van Dong went to Geneve meeting-hall, Prime Minister Pham Van Dong saw Mr. Secular Conservator Le Thien Phuoc wearing western clothes and sitting next to Doctor Tran Van Do. When seeing the Prime Minister, Mr. Secular Conservator greeted him with a nod. The Prime Minister also replied with a nod, whole Southern delegation also greet Prime Minister Pham Van Dong with a nod. Both Southern and Northern Delegations happily greeted together.

There were many continuous meetings happening at the Geneve hall, but that was the first time that two Government Delegations of two Southern and Northern religions happily greeted together, this caused a tumult for international reporters and journalists attending to get information because from the beginning time to this time of Geneve Agreement, they graced one unique event at 15pm of 6^th July 1954. This is a significant remembrance that people forget difficultly with the intermediate delegation of Caodaism making advantages for two Southern and Northern Delegations to have chances for future situation.

The cool wind fanning to the meeting hall dispelled boring atmosphere of previous meetings of two Southern and Northern delegations of Vietnam. This made persons attending in the conference surprised. For French delegation leader, Mr. Chevaul was especially surprised with an attention because of news of friendly discussion happening between His Holiness Ho Phap and Republic Democratic Vietnam Delegation just reported last night by His Holiness Ho Phap and now two Northern and Southern delegations were discussing mutually.

It was known that Vietnam was in the betrayed scheme at the Geneve Agreement, His Holiness Ho Phap immediate opened a press conference under attendance of international reporters and journalists to alarm in front of foreign countries imposing for dividing Vietnam in two. At the press conference, His Holiness declared that: “If Viet Minh and France obey order of foreign countries for dividing Vietnam in two without acceptance of whole Vietnamese, Ban Dao (I) will oppose two parties”. His Holiness Ho Phap’s declaration had a determined value showing patriotic heart, immense love for compatriots of His Holiness Ho Phap. His Holiness Ho Phap determinedly released Vietnam race out of division in two – an impossible disaster similar to situation of Nguyen and Trinh King.

After the Caodaism Delegation had left Geneve to return Southern Vietnam, in Saigon, the President Ngo Dinh Diem was supported and guided by the American Consultant Major-General Landsdale to eradicate Religions, Parties who had ever cooperated with France in loosing Vietnam race relation and debilitating the national force.

As His Holiness Ho Phap wanted to rescued the imposed situation of Vietnam from foreign countries, His Holiness Ho Phap did not hesitate appealed to Religions, Parties in unifying into one party with full right to directly negotiate with the Government of Republic Democratic Vietnam in Hanoi created by Geneve Agreement on 20^th July 1954.

His Holiness Ho Phap knew clearly that the disaster for Vietnam race was from Prime Minister Chu An Lai (China) and French Prime Minister Pierre Mendes discussing secretly at the Geneve Agreement regardless of warning of British Prime Minister Churchill and America Prime Minister Eisenhower meeting at the White Palace on 10^th July 1954 to appeal: “Do not accept to stop shooting in Indochina with a very high price”.

His Holiness Ho Phap could not keep silent to wait mutual disaster coming, it forces the Leader of Caodaism, His Holiness Ho Phap Pham Cong Tac had to appeal to Religions and Parties to unite into to found “NATIONAL FORCE UNION FRONT” named as a Cao Thien Hoa Binh Front (including Caodaism, Catholicism, Hoa Hao Buddhism, Binh Xuyen) as a unique bloc to directly negotiate with the Government of Ha Noi Republic Democratic Vietnam in order avoid the imposed scheme of foreign countries carrying out toward inner right of Vietnam.

“All schemes from man, success due to GOD”, the Foreign countries incited the President Ngo Dinh Diem severely destroyed the National Force Union Front, and also severely destroyed Religions, Parties to cause the race union to go the end of path seriously.

The Caodaism disciple can not forget the cause of Old Lieutenant-General Tran Quang Vinh, the Generalissimo of Caodaism Troop, the Chief-General of National Security of Southern Region who was hijacked, sentenced with death judgment, imprisoned at Ba Den mountain of Tay Ninh with burning his car by Major-General Nguyen Trinh Minh The. His Holiness Ho Phap knew bad news, He ordered the Major-General Trinh Minh The to have to immediately release Tran Quang Vinh.  

          Trinh Minh The had a daring and inhumane behavior that the Major-General Trinh Minh The distributed leaflet of sentencing Tran Quang Vinh heavily. Now, he was forced to release Tran Quang Vinh immediately, this impacted on the prestige of famous Leader on the Ba Den mountain. Therefore, there was no method, the Major-General Trinh Minh The petitioned His Holiness Ho Phap to ask the Dignitaries of Palace of Divine Alliance to go to Ba Den mountain with “Counter-Investigation” toward the death sentence of Tran Quang Vinh. Under His Holiness Ho Phap’s acceptance, the Major-General The ordered the Major DON to welcome the Dignitaries of Palace of Divine Alliance by a Union Battalion. The Commissary of Justice Phan Huu Phuoc and Si Tai (Archivist) Le Quang Tan assigned by His Holiness Ho Phap went to the Commander Department of Union Caodaism Troop to take the oral deposition of Mr. Tran Quang Vinh.  

          In order to avoid the attention of French Government in Tay Ninh province, the Chief of Holy Protector Lieutenant-Colonel Pham Ngoc Tran operated a Squad to escort the Commissary of Justice Phan Huu Phuoc and the Archivist Le Quang Tan from the Gate of Institute Conciliation of Inner Tay Ninh Holy See to the foot of Ba Den mountain then to hand over to the Major Don belonging the Union Caodaism Troop to take two Dignitaries to the Commander Department at Ba Den mountain peacefully.  

          Under warm welcome of Major-General Trinh Minh The at the Commander Department of Union Caodaism Troop, the Commissary of Justice Phuoc and Archivist Tan took a rest to wait Mr. Tran Quang Vinh.  

          In the next day, according to the first assignment, the Archivist Tan and Lieutenant Tran Van Thuong, the Attaché of Major-General Trinh Minh The went to a very firm cavern which was the shelter place of Major-General The each time of mopping up and dropping bomb of French Troop. After 10 minutes of order for taking Mr. Tran Quang Vinh to hand over to the Lieutenant Thuong into the stone cavern to meet the Archivist Tan for oral deposition.  

          How pitiful for Mr. Tran Quang Vinh enduring the forest fever for many months with a thin and pale face! Pitifully, he has not ever met the Major-General The. The Archivist Tan immediately the oral deposition of Mr. Tran Quang Vinh by writing question on paper and Mr. Tran Quang Vinh also answered by writing on paper without speaking way because the Major-General The had set up tape-recorder at table. The Archivist wrote by shorthand letters that a few people could read and understand to ovoid being stopped by staff of Major-General The to take it on the way to Holy See without knowledge for shorthand letters.  

          Due to that way, the information of Counter-Investigation was taken to Holy See to submit to His Holiness perfectly.  

          After getting the oral deposition of Counter-Investigation, the Archivist Tan and the Lieutenant Thuong went back the Commander Department to meet the Commissary of Justice Phan Huu Phuoc to discuss in order to say goodbye to the Major-General Trinh Minh The for going back Holy See to reply the situation to His Holiness Ho Phap.  

          After reading the report of “counter-investigation” of Death Sentence for Tran Quang Vinh, His Holiness Ho Phap immediately ordered to buy Aralene medicine of treating the forest fever and a bottle of Rhum wine sent to Mr. Tran Quang Vinh to use to wait the sentenced date of Court.  

The Major-General Trinh Minh The summoned a sentenced trial for Tran Quang Vinh solemnly at the foot of Ba Den mountain. A rare event happening that Bao Dao Ho Tan Khoa (Religious Conservator), an excellent Governor graduated from the Law School in Hanoi, an old Chief of Chau Doc province, a Dignitary belonging Twelve Zodiacal Dignitaries of Palace of Divine Alliance was present at the Trial as Counsel for Mr. Tran Quang Vinh. Over two thousands of distant compatriots attended to hear the declaration of Tribunal President Colonel Truong Luong Thien: “Tran Quang Vinh is cleared from a charge and released”. The compatriots dispersed happily to leave the foot of Ba Den mountain. The dignitary of Palace of Divine Alliance had to go right to foot of Ba Den mountain defend for the dignitary of Palace of Nine Divine Planes, the Archbishop Thuong Vinh Thanh (Dignitary of Taoism).

The Archbishop Thuong Vinh Thanh was permitted to participate political activity. The Caodaism Sacerdotal Council arranged the disease treatment for Mr. Thuong Vinh Thanh by going to France.

After Geneve Agreement signed on 20^th July 1954, the order of stopping of shooting became effective whole Southern Vietnam. On 11^th August 1954, Viet Minh troop gathered at three areas: Xuyen Moc, Dong Thap Muoi province and Ca Mau province due to the plan of Agreement and Geneve begun to reciprocate prisoners at Viet Tri. Three French officers were released firstly: Lieutenant Border, Jego and Morin arrested at Cao Bang province.

His Holiness Ho Phap Taught: “Major-General Trinh Minh The guides the Union Troops to go to areas to replace the bases of Viet Minh troops leaving off to regrouping”. According to the order of His Holiness Ho Phap, the Union Troops garrisoned in Eastern provinces, Dong Thap Muoi, and Western South of Vietnam. There was a clash with force of Hoa Hao Buddhism leaded by Major-General Le Quang Vinh named military of Ba Cut in Chau Doc province. However, due to smart concession and mutual arrangement, two sides avoided the fight by shoot.

After that, the Colonel Lansdale, the consultant of Prime Minister of Ngo Dinh Diem went right to the high command of union troop at the Ba Den mountain to discuss with the Major-General Trinh Minh The, and also persuaded the Major-General Trinh Minh The to cooperate with Mr. Ngo Dinh Diem – the lead of Vietnam Republic government. The Colonel Lansdale smartly promised to make Mr. Trinh Minh The accept to welcome Doctor Chuong – the Health Department of Southern Vietnam Government visiting the Union Base so that they discussed conditions for Union Troops cooperating with the Government of Ngo Dinh Diem. Before cooperating with President Ngo Dinh Diem, the Major-General Trinh Minh The guided some officers in Advising Department to go to Tri Hue Cung (Enlightenment Palace) to visit His Holiness Ho Phap to petition His Holiness to go to Saigon to do as a chairman of ceremony of Union Troops cooperation with the Government of Republic Vietnam. His Holiness taught: “Ban Dao (I) cannot witness your death! You do not obey my order, manage your issue by yourself!”

The ceremony of welcoming the Union Troops joining into the national troop was held solemnly. Mr. Trinh Minh The was given the army rank of Major-General of Vietnam Nation Troop in front of ambassadors of many nations and Ministers of Ngo Dinh Diem Government.

It was remembered clearly that one day, His Holiness Ho Phap visited Dignitaries of Twelve Zodiacal Dignitaries of Palace of Divine Alliance, His Holiness Ho Phap attentively discussed with Mr. Bao The (Secular Conservator) Le Thien Phuoc, Bao Dao (Religious Conservator) Ho Tan Khoa, Hien Phap (Religious Constitution) Truong Huu Duc, Khai Dao (Religious Reformer) Pham Tan Dai, Tiep Phap (Judicial Legislator) Truong Van Trang,… and many dignitaries of Palace of Divine Alliance including Thua Su (Commissary of Justice), Truyen Trang (Clerk of Court), Si Tai (Archivist), Luat Su (Judicial Agent) (over 30 persons). His Holiness Ho Phap said: “Major-General Trinh Minh The thought wrongly that he was full-fledged to be able to freely fly with life but his political ability was still bad, he will be harmed surely! If that does not happen, you can bind two hands of BanDao (I). When saying, His Holiness Ho Phap praised his hands in front of dignitaries staying there”. One month passed, the Major-General Trinh Minh The killed when he was inspecting the base at the Tan Thuan bridge of Saigon, one death was very in injustice with nothing preventing it.

It is remembered on 22^nd August 1946, when reaching the destination of Tay Ninh Holy See after 5 years, 2 months of exile in Madagascar, His Holiness Ho Phap

was very anxious about existence of Caodaism Troop in the inner Holy See. Facing on a bygone event, His Holiness Ho Phap did not know any better way toward the ammunitions of resistance Vietminh and French Troop and one more Caodaism Troop garrisoning in the inner Tay Ninh Holy See. His Holiness Ho Phap gradually moved the Caodaism Troop out of inner Holy See. This is not a simple decision because of national situation reduced in the fire and smoke of war, of party fight, of internecine fight, of division of bother relation, of very thorny situation of nation. His Holiness Ho Phap recommended commanders of Caodaism Troop that: “You are fierce Samsadhi Fire disposing of Demon Kind but it can burn the Holy See. Consequently, I (Master) do not let you stay in the inner Holy See, you go out of Holy See to garrisoning”. Therefore, the Caodaism Troop had to leave off Giao Tong Duong (Pope Office) belonging the inner Holy See to garrison at Giang Tan about 8km from Holy See. Some dignitaries worried about security and property of Caodaism with withdrawal of Caodaism Troop, therefore they petition to His Holiness to let the Caodaism Troop garrison in inner Holy land to protect effectively to set human being’s mind at rest. His Holiness was smiling to answer: “Ban Dao (I) have driven them away, they can stay somewhere! Here, with Ban Dao, it is alright, they are fierce fire, do not let them be close”.

The warning prediction of His Holiness Ho Phap happened after years, in 1955, the Caodaism Troop was nationalized to become the Vietnam Nation Troop. His Holiness Ho Phap amended the religious system to preach the true doctrine of Caodaism by sections of teaching Tao at the pulpit in Holy See regarding to Caodaism doctrine for all dignitaries and disciples so that they could understand thoroughly the secret dharma of Caodaism in order to prove the Holy sample, to tighten the relation of co-religionist, to make the Great Way-Third Period brilliant.

His Holiness Ho Phap knew the situation of Vietnam race thoroughly, the small nation was competed and exchanged at the Geneve Agreement in 1954 about interests by foreign countries. The America intended to replace the government of French. Therefore, the Colonel Consultant Lansdale planed to hurry the President Ngo Dinh Diem to eradicate religions, parties as soon as possible, which had ever cooperated with France before. The Colonel Lucien Come in with two faithful Lieutenants Joe Henrick and R. Philip had the important responsibility to carry out the verbal command “split arm force of Parties with the highest effect to be able to change 1/3 of French force into the force of Ngo Dinh Diem”. The scheme was carried out, the President Ngo Dinh Diem suborned and incited the Lieutenant-General Nguyen Thanh Phuong – former Commander-General of Caodaism Troop to had a great ambition for position of Prime Minister under the honeyed and seduced promise of President Ngo Dinh Diem and the Consultant Ngo Dinh Nhu that after deposing Bao Dai King, Nguyen Thanh Phuong would hold the position of Prime Minister.

Therefore, the Lieutenant-General Nguyen Thanh Phuong was fallen into the plan of Consultant Ngo Dinh Nhu and Doctor Tran Kim Tuyen (Secret Agent of Prime Minister Palace). They discreetly took the Members of Recovering Independence Organization demonstrating in deposing the Chief of State Bao Dai. This caused many difficulties for His Holiness Ho Phap.

Plan of deposing successfully, the Lieutenant-General Phuong was immediately fallen into the trap of Nhu and Tuyen asking Polices to surround the villa of Lieutenant-General Phuong at 113 Yen Do street of Saigon to examine then to seize some illegal cars collected by the Major-General Trinh Minh The in the attack toward Binh Xuyen Troop at the Y bridge that Binh Xuyen Troop left. At that time, they were attacked suddenly without repulse, they left those cars to go to Sat forest because they did not think the Major-General Trinh Minh The obeyed Ngo Dinh Diem to betray. A bitter lesson for Major-General Le Van Vien that he had to run to the Sat forest at his elderly age.

The Lieutenant-General Nguyen Thanh Phuong was invited for a sentence to keeping illegal cars. He managed with many ways not to be sentenced, Lieutenant-General PHUONG accepted to let everything run without any condition that he did not remind the position of Prime Minister promised by deceptive mouth.

The Lieutenant-General Phuong denied discreetly until he died at his personal home in Cho Lon.

How pitiful for the death of Lieutenant-General Phuong! The truck carrying his coffin from Cho Lon to Tay Ninh for burying suddenly burnt. The coffin had to be moved into other truck to Tay Ninh. Another trouble also happened that the truck could not be run to the Inner Holy See because when the Lieutenant-General Phuong was living, he had a disagreement toward the Government of Tay Ninh Province. The truck could not run into the Inner Holy See to pray according Caodaism Ritual, it had to run directly to the Graveyard to be buried.

Is this the karma that the Lieutenant-General Nguyen Thanh Phuong obeyed the incited speech of President Ngo Dinh Diem in taking Caodaism Troop to purge Caodaism Dignitaries of Holy Land at Tay Ninh Holy See in 1935?

There was a smart thing that the Lieutenant-General Phuong did not dare to command Caodaism Troop to surround Ho Phap Office but he ordered the Major-General LE VAN TAT to do. As the Si Tai (Archivist) Le Quang Tan obeyed His Holiness Ho Phap to warn that the Lieutenant-General Nguyen Thanh Phuong could not lead the Caodaism Troop to purge, he should let the National Troop of President Ngo Dinh Diem lead Troop to surround His Holiness Ho Phap because in that way, His Holiness Ho Phap easier coped with being surrounded under treatment of Teacher-Student sentiment.

The Major-General Le Van Tat was fought against by the Supervisor Vo Van Khue leading. The Major-General Le Van Tat scared to withdraw troops discreetly out of Holy Land without shot.

Under the instruction of Lieutenant Nguyen Thanh Phuong, the Major-General Le Van Tat took Caodaism Troop to surround the Ho Phap Office to cause a stir to make Disciples in the Holy Land puzzled. This has bequeathed an eternal vestige of bad that the Student betrayed the Teacher.

It matches with Vietnamese proverb: “Fish without salt becomes rotten, child contradicting parents will be spoilt in all ways”.

In the spring of At Mui year (1955), the His Holiness Ho Phap governing Two Visible Palaces As The Tiptop Governor of Caodaism gave a letter in new year festival: “I (master) pray to SUPREME BEING to bless for all disciples and soldiers with a new year under promotion of religious conduct, under good health, prosperous life to serve humankind of great way. I pray that soldier disciples died may be gone beyond the cycle of death and rebirth with enjoyment at the paradise”.

It is thought that at the night of new year of 30^th December Giap Ngo year (1955) going to At Mui year, His Holiness Ho Phap gave teachings to all dignitaries and disciples about morality, standard and world situation that Caodaism Disciples always remember these precious speeches forever in their mind. These precious surely engraved deeply on mind of pious Disciples and handed over for next generation forever.

The religious works were much more and more such as taking care of living place for compatriots with enough rice and clothes, such as carrying out training: citizen, education, sanitation, feeding orphan, helping widow, comforting old and morbidity people, helping people facing sufferings, building market and school, building old people’s home and building hospital, maternity hospital on over the holy land.

Especially, the General Assembly of Human Beings was opened with attendance of sub-dignitaries and disciples on over nation under the sorrow call of His Holiness Ho Phap: “The crane has returned, miss ancestor when watching space, watch the change of water and follower, how pitiful for sentiment with tears under the bitterly final and hurried call pushing the intimate friend’s feedback. Alas! For this mournful picture, who is the intimate friend with Ban Dao (I/Poor Monk)? I can not find any one else except you, gentle brothers and younger sisters”.

His Holiness Ho Phap never forgot the responsibility of a very patriotic citizen with an immutable theory. That was to unify Vietnam territory, to take back the race sovereignty completely, to determine to release the nation from direct or indirect independence of two blocs of Capitalism and Communism. Therefore, the President Ngo Dinh Diem planed schemes to smear the good repute of His Holiness Ho Phap. His Holiness Ho Phap still stood steadily to hold the religious flag and true dharma of Caodaism.

The Sacerdotal Council continued to hold course of Hanh Duong²⁰ to train male and female dignitaries with enough moral ability assigned to provinces and districts and to train excellent dignitaries for Caodaism delegation attending the Great Assembly of International Religions on over the world:

The Geneve Agreement dated 20^th July 1954 was not carried out fully. The situation of Vietnam was very gloomy at that time because the governments of two Northern and Southern Regions of Vietnam were supported by Foreign Countries. The government of Republic Democratic Vietnam of North was led by President Ho Chi Minh under the support of International Communist bloc with Russia and China. The government of Southern Republic Vietnam was led by President Ngo Dinh Diem under the support of Freedom World bloc with powerful country such as Capital America.

From the time of Geneve Agreement dated 20^th July 1954, signed in Switzerland, there were nine powerful countries signing in Agreement for dividing Vietnam in two by choosing Ben Hai river as a border of North and South and 17^th parallel. It is same to the division of division stage of Nguyen and Trinh King with Gianh river as a brother in 17^th century 1627.

His Holiness Ho Phap could not only watch Foreign Countries inciting and imposing to cause fights. Therefore, His Holiness Ho Phap found a method to remove the complicated situation, He afterward exiled by himself one more time to live in Cambodia – a Neutral Nation named as a member of five standard of “CO-EXISTING PEACFULLY” promoted by Prime Minister Nneru of India.

In the morning of 5^th January Binh Than year according to lunar calendar (16^th February 1956), His Holiness Ho Phap and some dignitaries left the Holy See of Tay Ninh to exile to Cambodia. Undoubtedly, it had been arranged by the GOD. His Holiness Ho Phap acted as the GOD’s will by a determined program with a exiled journey to Cambodia in order to the Neutral Standpoint to avoid the pressure of fight of two Communism and Capitalism blocs over the world.

In Phnom Penh capital of Cambodia, His Holiness Ho Phap promoted a POLITICAL PROGRAM OF CO-EXISTING PEACFULLY to essentially awake Vietnamese to soon carry out the rights of citizen because there were three core targets: “By Citizen, Serve Citizen, Found Citizen’s Right. Only citizen could save the dangerous situation for future of nation and race. We had to steadily maintain peace, mercy even how Powerful Countries were changing. We needed to be wise to combine force to determinedly protect the peace of our inner nation completely”.

On 15^th March Binh Than year (26^th March 1956), His Holiness Ho Phap sent two letters to President Ho Chi Minh, the leader of Republic Democratic Vietnam Government and President Ngo Dinh Diem, the leader of Democratic Vietnam Government to call for emulation examination of “Humanity” between religions of Southern and Northern Vietnam.

How unfortunate! At that time, due to deep influence of foreign countries, two governments of North and South of Vietnam could have no power to determine their race fate, they did not dare to sit closely to discuss the suggestion of His Holiness Ho Phap stated in the Political Grogram of Existing Peacefully. Concurrently, His Holiness Ho Phap also sent a letter No.138/HP/VPHP dated 3^rd November 1956 to Venerable of Religions:

“The present situation is reaching the harsh and dangerous stage for future fate of Vietnam divided in two with two races under the influence of two blocs of Communism and Capitalism causing the intestine war in division in two of Vietnam.

Besides, His Holiness Ho Phap also gave the General Secretary of United Nations a the Method of International Concord Peace in order to harmony two blocs of Capitalism and Communism in soon understanding together, in making concessions to exist, in loving together as blood brothers under one great roof with complete peace.

“Vietnamese blood has bled in the ancestor land in enduring foreign power. That is a misfortune for Vietnamese race due to the previous blood disaster from the dynasty of Trinh and Nguyen King”.

It is thought that if the governments of two regions of Southern and Northern Vietnam under President Ho Chi Minh and President Ngo Dinh Diem had a little bit of power to decide the fate of race and nation and enthusiastically carried out the Policy of Co-existing Peacefully – the Progenitor of peaceful policy and concord race, this animal fatherland would not fall into decay in sufferings, the Vietnamese compatriots would determinedly have peace and mercy long since. One obvious evidence can prove that after Viet Minh had won the fight of Dien Bien Phu, the momentum of driving off invaders of whole Vietnamese compatriots from South to North became very enthusiastic with over strength to release the Southern Vietnam easily so that Vietnam could be completely peaceful and independent. However, the government of Northern Vietnam was deeply effected on foreign country such as China with full prerogative experience in interest the “Ban Mon Diem” Agreement in1953 in dividing Korea in two into Southern and Northern Korea.

Even the method of harmonizing two blocs of Capitalism and Communism of His Holiness Ho Phap was not advocated enthusiastically by powerful countries, many powerful countries paid attention much, considered and answered His Holiness Ho Phap by warm and respectful reply.

Moreover, many good changes gradually appeared. The method of harmonizing two blocs of Capitalism and Communism was not a call from desert. In contrary, it became a very habitual sound “Co-existing peacefully”, a noun often reminded by people on the world. Especially, it was more and more valuable according to demonstrations of countries loving peace. Two blocs of Capitalism and Communism are not the win between two blocs, each bloc also has its correct aspect and incorrect aspect.

The correct aspect is for no way to solve by force. If two blocs fight together by nuclear weapon, the disaster will destroy two blocs and all human beings.

The incorrect aspect is to wipe the society substance, they do not believe on which way that they are going. Two systems are due to necessary of living, they must co-exist peacefully, must control themselves toward rule, must complete themselves to reach the truth.

The encouragement for humankind came world. On April 1971, 24^th General Assembly of Russia Communism was held in Mosco with a declaration about détente with China and cooperated well with America. That was a happy signal of change for humankind. Then the highest leader of Catholicism, the Pope Phaolo VI declared: “set up a society in brother relation on this earth”.

In next, the table-tennis sport delegation of America and three journalists of America were invited by China to visit Bac Kinh capital of China. After 20 absolutely no relation, China and America began to have relations. The welcome toward America sport delegation was very warm to enough prove acknowledgement of world: This unique relation would certainly bring a secret conference and sudden change of America toward Indochina in which Vietnam was a main point that needed to be solved fast and well under the negotiation without force.

With foremost speech of Prime Minister Chu An Lai in welcoming America table-tennis delegation, it showed the good trend after many blood experiments with “sea of people” on the Dien Bien Phu base of Vietnam and Korea base in 1955. The tiny nations could escape from “death claw” just by a short declaration of Prime Minister Chu An Lai: “ALL MEN IN FOUR OCEANS ARE BROTHERS”.

On 26^th March 1956, His Holiness Ho Phap showed the Policy of Co-existing Peacefully with determination to save humankind. The Caodaism disciples sometimes had to pay by blood in prison of Southern Vietnam to contribute to Policy of Co-existing Peacefully with wish for independence, freedom, union, escape from fight of two blocs of Capitalism and Communism under an oath that they never lived in a same sky.

The Caodaism dignitary and disciple delegation volunteered to fill in the Ben Hai river, discreetly went to the 17^th parallel on 17^th April Binh Than year (1956) to hang a white flag at the second span of Hien Luong bridge of Ben Hai river. That flag was named as a “Nhan-Uyen” flag on behalf of peace. The purpose of this action was to call two governments of two regions of Northern and Southern Vietnam to throw away the hate to sit closely for finding a suitable method of harmony of two sides. The Lieutenant-Colonel Le Van Thoai, the leader of delegation completed the duty excellently. The white flag flew on the Hien Luong bridge of Ben Hai river to produce a stir toward provinces of North and South. It also made the government of Southern Vietnam worried much.

In the Southern Vietnam, at that time, all dignitaries, sub-dignitaries and male and female disciples determinedly approved the Policy of Co-existing Peacefully. Therefore, many dignitaries of Hiep Thien Dai (Palace of Divine Alliance) volunteered to undertake important duties in campaign board of Policy of Co-existing Peacefully of South. The members of campaign board were reported to the Centre.

On the 20^th March Binh Than year (30 April 1956), one letter was sent by His Holiness Ho Phap from Phnom Penh capital to all members of campaign board with warm words:

“Whoever enthusiastically loves nation ardently in saving the dangerous situation of nation, please contribute whole strength for cooperation with My (Ban Dao/I/Poor Monk) comrades to receive this credentials due to people, due to service for people, due to setting up rights for people so that all people have enough rights to save nation.

On 23rd June 1956, His Holiness Ho Phap assigned the Elder Brother Hien Phap (Religious Constitution) Truong Huu Duc on behalf of Caodaism Sacerdotal Council of Tay Ninh Holy See to take an audience to President Ngo Dinh Diem in order to know more attitude of Southern Government at that time for Policy of Co-existing Peacefully advocated by His Holiness Ho Phap.

One delegation of Sacerdotal Council was founded: Quyen Thuong Chanh Phoi Su²¹ Thuong Sang Thanh, Thai Chanh Phoi Su²² Thai Bo Thanh, Si Tai (Archivist) Le Quang Tan (on behalf of Elder Brother Hien Phap²³) to go to take an audience toward President Ngo Dinh Diem.

Concurrently, the campaign boards of Policy of Co-existing Peacefully belonging provinces, districts, towns were founded readily with an elevated spirit in protect the drop of blood of Vietnamese to avoid shedding groundlessly. This made Southern Government of Vietnam worried and very fretty. From that reason, in some places, disciples were arrested in provinces with a theory policy “eating National rice but adoring Communist ghost”.

The ardent heart for peace of Caodaism disciples was distrusted that they were relative to Communist as lackey for Communist and then they were arrested, repressed and confined. The guideline praising the lag of save of Caodaism is to have to love together, to have to be just as brothers in same roof with no discrimination for Capitalism or Communism, to have to consider as brothers with a same father.

In the Middle Vietnam, the police inspector of Ngo Dinh Can dynasty hurriedly founded the culprit who dared to suddenly broke the Hien Luong bridge to hung the white flag. On the way of returning, in Quang tri province, the Lieutenant-Colonel Le Van Thoai was arrested by the police inspector of Ngo Dinh Can suddenly. About three brothers, Nguyen Van Ky, Nguyen Quoc Dai, Nguyen Van Loi were also arrested at Quang Tri coach station. Four brothers Thoai, Ky, Dai, Loi were only free to went back Tay Ninh Holy See after being taken and confined for three years in Hue.

They carried out the responsibility of Vietnamese citizen and absolutely believed in the divine poem given by Cao Thuong Pham dated 23^rd April 1931:

“Long Tu Phien²⁴fans stir of mountain and river,

Four brothers: Thoai, Ky, Dai, Loi were haughty to ignore danger to break into Hien Luong bridge suddenly at 17^th parallel to hung the white flag in order to fulfill mission of pious disciple with three years of prison. It is thought that it is over the limitation for a Caodaism priest.

The gentle elder brother Giao Su Thuong Cao Thanh²⁶ (Ma Cao Tang), the Religious Governor of Thua Thien Hue province died in the prison with the crime “conceal” in guiding four brothers Thoai, Ky, Dai, Loi breaking suddenly into the Hien Luong bridge of Ben Hai river on 17^th July Binh Than year (22^nd August 1956).

The volunteer delegation of Lieutenant-Colonel Le Van Thoai determinedly leveled 17^th parallel, this completed the significant mission toward two-religion compatriots of Northern and Southern Vietnam. The white flag on behalf of peace soaring at the Hien Luong bridge was the most important to awake the Northern and Southern governments to remember the disaster of division of Trinh and Nguyen dynasty so that they could be closer to find a harmony method to preserve the blood of Vietnamese. Do not depend on power of foreign countries to be bled groundlessly and need to be smart to prevent their imposing scheme.

His Holiness Ho Phap explained for dignitaries and disciples to know thoroughly: “The Vietnamese race must continue to pay the serious debt of Trinh-Nguyen ancestors, then we will have the real peace!”.

However, he should not have watched without doing something for disaster happening, His Holiness Ho Phap changed the divine mechanism but “all things are decided by GOD”.

In the Phnom Penh capital of Cambodia, His Holiness Ho Phap gave an order for gentle elder brother Giao Huu (Priest of Buddhism) Thai Tay Thanh, a dignitary of Cuu Trung Dai (Palace of Nine Divine Planes), a famous contact man of the Cambodia Governor of Religious Province to crossed directly, fast, smoothly the Phnom Penh border to Bet-Chay, to Tan Chau of Chau Doc province of Vietnam to Saigon so that he could contact with the campaign board of Policy of Co-existing Peacefully of South in order to gave the secret letter in time 14pm 18^th February 1957.

The chief of campaign board of Policy of Co-existing Peacefully of South, the Si Tai (Archivist) Nguyen Minh Ngoi received the secret letter of His Holiness Ho Phap, he assigned Si Tai (Archivist) Le Quang Tan to have to urgently cross the border to Phnom Penh to contact with the contact man Giao Huu (Priest) Thai Tay Thanh.

Obeying the order of His Holiness Ho Phap, the Si Tai (Archivist) Nguyen Minh Ngoi convened an urgent unnormal meeting of campaign board of South. The Si Tai (Archivist) Le Quang Tan provisionally handed over the position of General Secretary for Si Tai (Archivist) Nguyen Minh Ngoi so that the Si Tai (Archivist) Le Quang Tan could cross border to Phnom Penh in time to contact with the contact members according to the plan.

The Si Tai (Archivist) Le Quang Tan prepared to go with Giao Huu Thai Tay Thanh within 3 hours for arranging everything. The Si Tai Nguyen Minh Ngoi, Si Tai Bui Van Tiep, Si Tai Nguyen Ngoc Tran on behalf of Southern campaign board saw off at the Saigon-Chau Doc coach station (Kitchener street, next Ong Lanh bridge of Saigon). The present parting was very urgent. One people stayed, one left in passion of brothers with long attachment, with melancholy say of good-bye. The coach of Saigon-Chau Doc began move at 18pm on 18^th February 1957.

The Si Tai Le Quang Tan was busy in taking care of handing over provisionally the position of General Secretary for Si Tai Nguyen Minh Ngoi to catch the time of 18pm, Si Tai Le Quang Tan had to requested the help of Si Tai Nguyen Ngoc Tran to inform his family that he had to cross border to Phnom Penh with Giao Huu Thai Tay Thanh according the order of His Holiness Ho Phap.

When leaving off Chau Doc province with many experiences of crossing border, the contact man Thai Tay Thanh spent many dangerous stages. Especially, they had to cross a large river as a border of Vietnam and Cambodia. The canoe oscillated the Bet-Chay river, this was a creative ingenuity of Giao Huu (Priest) Thai Tay Thanh.

When reaching the Cambodia region, they had to change many coaches. They prepared legal documentaries living in Cambodia crossing guardrooms on the way. The contact man Thai Tay Thanh was smart in anticipation of all contingencies in order to go to Phnom Penh, Caodaism Temple smoothly and safely so that Si Tai Le Quang Tan could take an audience with His Holiness Ho Phap.

Si Tai Le Quang Tan went to His Holiness Ho Phap for audience to state all Religious situations at Tay Ninh Holy See and state the successful spreading of Policy of Co-existing Peacefully on over the Southern region of Vietnam due to the enthusiastic determination of all male and female dignitaries, sub-dignitaries and disciples on over the nation with effective activities from provinces, districts, towns, villages. After the audience, Si Tai Le Quang Tan carried out seriously the teaching of His Holiness Ho Phap: “you take an audience with Cambodia Royal government to petition to live as a political refugee in Phnom Penh and to wait for new order”. Si Tai immediately went to special police service in order to complete the legal procedure for a political refugee in Phnom Penh.

At that time, in Saigon and Western provinces of Southern Vietnam were facing on many difficulties toward Southern government. The elder brother Chon Nhon²⁷ Trinh Phong Cuong – the Governor of Sacerdotal Council of Charity Body, Thua Su (Commissary of Justice) Phan Huu Phuoc – Governor of Justice Department, Si Tai (Archivist) Tran Tan Hoi – Contact member of campaign board of POCEP²⁸ of Southern region (Policy of Co-existing Peacefully), Giao Huu (Priest) Thuong Lien Thanh – Religious Governor of Cho Lon District, Giao Huu Thuong Cao Thanh – Governor of Religious Province of Thua Thien Hue, Luat Su ( Judicial Agent) Nguyen Huu Nhan – Justice Department of Tay Ninh Holy See,…died in prison. There were over two thousand male and female dignitaries, sub-dignitaries, disciples were arrested and confined to embroider the POCEP under a very simple crime: “Caodaism eats National rice but worships Communism ghost”.

It is thought that the Southern Government severely accused the Geneve Agreement signed on 20^th July 1954 by Viet Minh and France in dividing Vietnam in two. This date was considered as a “National Hatred” date of Vietnamese race. However, the Caodaism disciple deeply propagated and founded a campaign board of POCEP over provinces, districts, villages of Vietnam. The Prime Minister Ngo Dinah Diem had a guideline of opposing against Communist while Caodaism disciples of Tay Ninh Holy See required co-existing peacefully. Did they want to co-exist peacefully with Communist then to be arrested confined by Ngo Dinah Diem dynasty? In contrary trend, some Viet Minh people did not carry out undercover activity in enemy-corrupted zone (not assemble to North) were peaceful even the Geneve Agreement was not respectfully carried out while the Caodaism disciples volunteered to even 17^th parallel naturally in breaking into the demilitarized zone to hung the white flag at Hien Luong bridge of Ben Hai river regardless of danger.

His Holiness Ho Phap was in exile in Cambodia. When receiving many reports of Sacerdotal Council and campaign board of POCEP of South about clear situation of Ngo Dinh Diem dynasty in suppressing strictly the Caodaism, His Holiness Ho Phap immediately sent a letter No. 238/HP-VPHP dated 28^th February 1957 to the Chairman of International Control for cease-fire in Vietnam.

One section translated: “…………….I request the Chairman to found a local investigation and intervene to free persons confined.

The verbatim verse: “……Je vous serai, a consequence très recommaisnant de vouloir bien faire……faire libérer le plutôt possible tous ces detenues.

…………………………”.

The next even was for one letter sent from President Ho Chi Minh – the President of Republic Democratic Vietnam Government in Hanoi to His Holiness Ho Phap in Phnom Penh with the content:

“I kindly thank for your message dated 26^th April 1956 and faithfully thank your intention of peaceful union for Vietnam. The all people of Government of Republic Democratic Vietnam from South to North and overseas compatriots determinedly and enduringly fight to carry out the ardent wish of Vietnam race in making Vietnam peaceful, united, independent, democratic, rich and strong.

His Holiness Ho Phap concurrently received a letter of General Secretary of United Nations by acclaiming the path of POCEP and method of harmonizing two blocs of Capitalism and Communism in soon carrying out the peaceful and concord foundation of world.

His Holiness Ho Phap and exile delegation of Caodaism in Cambodia also faced on many obstacles. Due to interest, fates of many Cambodian compatriots living scatteredly in provinces of Tra Vinh, Soc Trang, Can Tho, Bac Lieu, Chau Doc belonging to Southern Vietnam, the Royal Cambodia Government had to please Ngo Dinh Diem dynasty under diplomatic relation of two nations Vietnam-Cambodia. At that time, the Head State Norodom Sihanouk was very tactful, he did not directly discussed with His Holiness Ho Phap similar to times happening 1950 and 1952 that he paid honour to His Holiness Ho Phap very much. In this time, he assigned Prime Minister Pen Nouth – Royal Government to welcome the Caodaism delegation. His Holiness Ho Phap Assigned Bao Dao (Religious Conservator) Ho Tan Khoa to discuss with Prime Minister Pen Nouth.

Understanding thoroughly situation of a person in exile with experience for 5 years, 2 months in prison in Madagascar in 1941-1946, His Holiness Ho Phap sympathized with situation of Head of State Norodom Sihanouk that he could not welcome His Holiness Ho Phap solemnly as he had done before.

That is the way of world. As His Holiness shouldered the mission assigned by SUPREME BEING, His Holiness did not hesitate to leave the Centre Holy See of Tay Ninh in exile to Cambodia – a Neutral Nation in order to avoid pressure of two blocs of Capitalism and Communism to promote a POCEP regardless of dangers and he accepted all sufferings and disgraces for race toward fatherland divided by foreign countries.

At that time, the most broken-hearted thing of His Holiness Ho Phap was to receive the messages or reports of Caodaism Sacerdotal Council of Tay Ninh Holy See and campaign board of POCEP of South regarding to reporting the confinement, arrest and death situation of disciples of provinces. The deep love of His Holiness Ho Phap was for dignitaries, sub-dignitaries, disciples. Especially, it was for situation of confinement such as a situation of Si Tai (Archivist) Le Quang Tan confined for 3 months in Phnom Penh with crime name: “Breaking into Cambodia suddenly and illegal”. After leaving prison, His Holiness Ho Phap comforted Si Tai Tan with a very touched teaching: “if Ban Dao was not ill, you would not be sentenced for 3 months”. His teaching did not end, the current of tear shed on his cheeks. It made whole exile delegation could avoid a current of tear. His Holiness Ho Phap continued to say: “Ban Dao/I am old already, I can not live forever to take care you. The future of Religion, of Vietnam is due to you. You are the next generation with continuous responsibility, Ban Dao/I am only a pioneer founding the great way. That is just a first step of sacrifice to pave the path only.

His Holiness Ho Phap concurrently asked Hanh Thien²⁹ Nguyen van Hieu – a pious attaché of exile delegation: “Hieu, you went inside to take My Dress and handed over your brother Si Tai Le Quang Tan to wear for presenting himself the security department of Royal Government”. Hanh Thien Nguyen Van Hieu obeyed and brought the Dress. His Holiness Ho Phap immediately asked: “Si Tai, Ban Dao/I give you an armored dress, wear it and go with Bao Dao Ho Tan Khoa to present to Mr. Kou Roun – the Chief of security department of Cambodia Royal Government to petition for living as a politic refugee in Phnom Penh”. Si Tai Tan respectfully received the dress of His Holiness Ho Phap and worn it, then left with Bao Dao (Religious Conservator) Ho Tan Khoa to see Mr. Benkabo. They were welcomed warmly by Mr. Benkado – Commanding Officer of Security Department and he was happy to sign the documents for living in political refuge reason in Phnom Penh capital (each three-month, have to present to extend).

On 6^th May Dinh Dau year (3rd June 1957), His Holiness Ho Phap received the news of message reported by elder brother Giao Su (Bishop) Thuong Giai Thanh that the elder brother Thua Su Phan Huu Phuoc died at the Thu Duc prison (Southern Vietnam) on 23pm of 6^th May Dinh Dau year.

His Holiness Ho Phap asked to invite elder brother Thai Chanh Phoi Su Thai Khi Thanh³⁰ - the Religious Region Governor of China to celebrate the ceremony for Thua Su Phan Huu Phuoc and His Holiness also assigned elder brother Doc Nhac³¹ Tran Thien Niem to handle “Rowing a Boat”³² ceremony at the Khach Dinh (House of funeral) on 20pm of 6^th May Dinh Dau year (3^rd June 1957) solemnly. Through the time of exile in Cambodia, that was the first time that His Holiness attended as a chairman of “Rowing Boat” ceremony of Thua Su (Commissary of Justice) Phan Huu Phuoc with affectionate favour for a dignitary of Palace of Divine Alliance sacrificing his life to the Great Way completely.

The Disciples of Cambodia could remember clearly that after the “Rowing Boat” ceremony of Commissary of Justice Phan Huu Phuoc, His Holiness Ho Phap with all dignitaries of exile delegation and Sacerdotal Council of Religious Region and male and female disciples went to the Religious Region Office to drink tea. His Holiness Ho Phap taught with compassion: “One more loyal and dutiful child has returned to Master and Mother. The Commissary of Justice Phan Huu Phuoc has ever endured sufferings, arduousness, and obstacles in prison in Son La of Northern Vietnam under the French domination stage. Now, he sacrificed completely his body and died in prison in Southern Vietnam due to the POCEP. This is a serious loss of Sacerdotal Council”. He concurrently glanced at some dignitaries of exile delegation in Phnom Penh with continuous teaching: “Later, all dignitaries will endure many compulsions of Communist power during one more period”.

The elder brother General Observer Vo Van Khue – a dignitary of exile delegation immediately stood up and respectfully asked: “How long will we have to endure the Communist power?”.

His Holiness Ho Phap answered: “Ban Dao/I give you one million, you spend much and fast, that amount will end soon! And SUPREME BEING let them enjoy the favour, however they are not virtuous but they are very cruel, then SUPREME BEING will take it back soon!

You still perhaps remember the Allegory of His Holiness Ly-Tai-Pei given to teach you for long time! Why don’t you read the “Allegory” of Ly Great Immortal again?”

The teachings of His Holiness Ly-Tai-Pei had predicted the future situations of Vietnamese race happening correctly.

It was thought that at night of 6^th May Dinh Dau year (7^th June 1957), His Holiness Ho Phap predicted that Vietnamese race would have to live under Communist power for a period.

His Holiness Ho Phap knew the divine law determined with no way of avoiding. He could not keep silent to watch the situation. Therefore His Holiness Ho Phap founded entered the Tri Hue Cung (Wisdom Palace) to meditate on 16^th January Tan Mao year (21^st February 1951) in order to call the children of SUPREME BEING, foremost 9,200,000 Men of Origin Soul so that they could be enlightened to watch the Enlightenment Palace and they had to enter that door in order to obtain the deliverance mechanism. After that, they could enter the Divine Door of Eternal Life founded separately for each person by SUPREME BEING.

There is a question asked that what purpose does His Holiness Ho Phap meditate? What is the meaning of meditation of His Holiness Ho Phap for 3 months on 21^st February 1951?

“I have heard a very anomalous rumour of life. I stand on the preaching hall to essentially interpret the meaning of entering the Wisdom Palace.

It is necessary to tell whole humankind in general meaning, and Vietnamese race in personal meaning about the true action toward the reason making His Holiness Ho Phap enter the Wisdom Papace within 3 months. At the dark palce, He prayed to SUPREME BEING to be given special favour to save humankind by applying His deliverance mechanism for whole humnakind, foremost Vietnamese race of His Holiness Pham Cong Tac.

It is thought that the person representing moral spirit of Vietnamese race such as His Holiness Pham Cong Tac had a divine mission to release the miseries of humankind by that moral spirit, to amend the cruel action of world to become the divine drops of water of SUPREME BEING. The divine water will make the holy path clean. That is His supremely holy drop of water used to sprinkle for all His children named all living beings on this earth.

The determined fate of humankind as well as the determined fate of whole Vietnamese race is in the SUPREME BEING’s hands at this time. If the law of cause and effect of humankind were not out of, there would not have any peace and happiness.

The true religion of SUPREME BEING was still a straight path. It does not determinedly charm any body for true doctrine. The charming methods of other people about axiom will be gradually destroyed by true doctrine of SUPREME BEING.

Without divine power of SUPREME BEING, nobody can cure humankind’s crimes! The people’s wish only can be obtained when their true virtue is higher than their vulgar heart. At that time, the happiness will come and the deliverance mechanism of SUPREME BEING will be carried out.

His Holiness Ho Phap entering the Wisdom Palace to meditate is same to what His Holiness Ly-Tai-Pei taught in a séance at Tay Ninh Holy See on 5^th February 1927 (Dinh Mao year):

“THAI BACH (李白)

His Holiness Ho Phap has set a brilliant example for whole life by full braveness to accept all hard trials everywhere without his moan or lament. He has gone with over strength to endure all upheavals in order to save serious situations of national future and Vietnamese race.

Afterward, His Holiness Ho Phap received many letters of Security Council of United Nations, International Organization for Human Right and Leaders of powerful countries under acclaim for POCEP, for universal concord harmonizing two blocs of Communism and Capitalism:

- 21^st April 1956: International Commission for Supervisor Control in Cambodia.

- 24^th April 1956: Prime Minister Winston Churchill of British.

- 24^th April 1956: Mr. Norodom Sihanouk – State Head of Cambodia.

- 24^th April 1956: Mr. Guy Mollet – Prime Minister of France.

- 26^th April 1956: Mr. Pierre Mendes belonging Department of National Affair France.

- 27^th April 1956: Mr. Felipe Polo Martinex Vald és of Spain.

- 2^nd May 1956: signed by Security Council of United Nations.

- 3^rd May 1956: signed by French Ambassador in Cambodia.

- 14^th May 1956: signed by Commision of Human Right of United Nations.

- 16^th May 1956: signed by Mr. State Head of Cambodia Mr. Norodom Sihanouk Upayuvareach.

- 19^th May 1956: signed by Prime Minister of Philippines.

5^th January 1957: signed by Cambodian King.

On 4^th January 1958, Mr. Ton Duc Thang – Nation Front Centre Committee of Hanoi sent a letter to invite His Holiness Ho Phap Pham Cong Tac and Caodaism Sacerdotal Council of Tay Ninh Holy See to go to visit compatriots and Caodaism disciples in Hanoi on occasion of New Year festival of Mau Tuat.

Is the POCEP of His Holiness Ho Phap on 26^th March 1956 blossoming to harmonize two blocs of Communism and Capitalism closely in concession to exist, in order to remove latent extermination?

The pleasure was for humankind that the gunshot of war was stopped and powerful countries of world shaked hands instead of fighting fiercely. Especially, confronted forces have begun discussing to end conflicts.

Propaganda or criticized speeches abusing together have disappeared. They were replaced by affectionate speeches, congratulations. The Suggestions of bilateral and unilateral cooperation were signed continuously. That was a rare change over fancy of humankind. Some year ago, there had been many hotbeds of war, explosive cellars exploding readily any time. However, at the recent time, many wars were going to end really. With an evidence, many rockets going to kill humankind were begun to be removed and destroyed. This is a pleased event for humankind.

There was a rare event happening more that to highest leaders: Mr. Nikhain Gorbachov – General Secretary of Russia and Mr. Ronald Reagan – President of America living under a stalemate discussed for first time on November 1985. Within 40 years from 1945 to 1985, two highest leaders of Russia and America have had 12 times of discussion only. Nowadays, due to significant mission of humankind, they have been aware of their general responsibility. Therefore, within 30 months from 1985 – 1988, the Foreign Ministers of two countries America and Russia met together 26 times to discuss many mutual affairs beginning the first meeting on November 1985 in 1985 in Genève but they spent difficulties threatening into a deadlock. Therefore, two presidents Mr. R. Reagan suggested Mr. General Secretary M. Gorbachov: “That is all! We should shake hands together to find a suitable way to harmonize two sides!”.

How mysterious! Due to the determination, belief and acceptance of harmony to find a reconciled method, the President Reagan and General Secretary Gorbachov could sign a first treatment on November 1985 to begin next discussions:

- First discussion in Genève on November 19/85.

- Second discussion in Reykjavid on October 1986.

- Third discussion in Washington on December 1987.

- Fourth discussion in Moscow on May 1988.

The characteristics of fourth discussion in Moscow, a disagreement happened between General Secretary Gorbachov and President Reagan threatening into a standstill like the situation of first discussion un Genève in 1985. The meeting was passing tensely, General Secretary M. Gorbachov expressed to suggest to Mr. President R. Reagan: “We shake hands second time to find other harmonized method leading a mutual agreement”, President R. Reagan accepted that. The discussion in Moscow in 1988 went away a stalemate with a good result according wish of two sides on 29^th May 1988 in Moscow.

General Secretary M. Gorbarchov did not just hesitate to report to all international reporters and journalists about the real situation of fourth discussion on 29^th May 1988 which was the second time of volunteer spirit of two sides causing an occasion of signing a treatment happily and expansively. Two delegations of Communism and Capitalism shook hands in two discussions in Genève in 1985 and 1988 overcoming serious stalemates. If the General Sacretary M. Gorbachov did not report narratively about contracts of two sides of highest leaders under mutual concession, whole world would never know a rare event of volunteer of General Secretary M. Gorbachov and President R. Reagan in order to escape the destroyed disaster due to atom war threatening.

How strange! The highest leader of Communism M. Gorbachov has been aware of responsibility toward humankind. Therefore, he readily volunteered to find a harmonized and concord method for world with President R. Reagan. This is a great bliss for whole humankind of this earth that Caodaism disciples have right to believe that the GOD has made General Secretary M. Gorbachov and President R. Reagan aware so that the humankind can lead to the love and justice under concord brothers.

The word “Messenger” is defined profoundly for future destiny of weak countries and whole humankind worrying the atom war going to happen that nowadays two blocs of Communism and Capitalism made concession under mutual brothers of GOD.

Next event, the international situation changed into the good trend from the declaration of General Secretary M. Gorbachov: “Change weapons into ploughshare, found an area without nuclear weapon – a peaceful area in Pacific Ocean Asia”.

There would have no weapon, violence on the earth on which each race would have a right to develop their path of life.

The Caodaism disciples are very proud of one leader such as late His Holiness Ho Phap Pham Cong Tac. Before 30 years, nobody could think that on 26^th March 1956, His Holiness Ho Phap promoted POCEP while two blocs of Communism and Capitalism were opposing strictly against with oaths of no roof. The idea of harmonizing two blocs of Communism and Capitalism would become useless via insular and mean criticism. They forgot the previous history lesson that due to the hurried determination of denying the initiative of Doctor Kopernic at the 17^th century proving that the earth turned around the sun.

What an honour! His Holiness Ho Phap has predicted for 30 years that two blocs of Communism and Capitalism would determinedly harmonize mutually to existing that nowadays the fact comes that nobody on over the world can deny it. The General Secretary M. Gorbachov and President R. Reagan acted as “Messengers” to complete four times of discussion in order solve previous hating leading into the mutual appreciation helping humankind out of worry of nuclear war.

Due to significant duty assigned by the GOD, His Holiness Ho Phap – Supreme Governor of Two Invisible Palace, Palace of Divine Alliance and Palace of Nine Divine Planes of Great Way-Third Period-Universal Salvation of Tay Ninh Holy See, He traveled in Europe and Asia. His Holiness Ho Phap has led Caodaism Dignitary Delegation of Tay Ninh Holy See to visit the President of Korea and President Tuong Gioi Thach to propagate the Great Way in Asia in order to create an intimate brother with Southern Korea and Taiwan.

In order to commemorate the merits of race heroes dying due to the country, His Holiness Ho Phap acted as the last will of His Holiness Ky Ngoai Hau Cuong De King. On 12^th October 1954, His Holiness Ho Phap took a dignitary delegation into Tokyo of Japan to take back the bone-ask of His Holiness Ky Ngoai Hau Cuong De from Dong Kinh to Saigon and put at the Saigon Hung Vuong Altar within continuous three days so that celebrities, intellectuals, people and foreign delegations went to commemorate heroes dying in other land. After compatriots had commemorated, Caodaism Sacerdotal Council took the bone ash of His Holiness Ngoai Hau Cuong De King to Tay Ninh Holy See for worship.

The President Ngo Dinh Diem used an occasion of leave for Cambodia of His Holiness on 16^th January 1956, Ngo Dinh Diem instructed Deputy President Nguyen Ngoc Tho guided Trang Cu and Trang Liet (two sons of His Holiness Ky Ngoai Hau Cuong De in Hue) to Tay Ninh in order to cooperated with the Chief of Tay Ninh province named as Nguyen Van Vang caused pressure and coerced Caodaism Sacerdotal Council toward handing over the bone-ash of Cuong De to Trang Cu and Trang Liet so that they would take it to Hue for worship.

The President Ngo Dinh Diem was very interested and worried in POCEP developing strongly on over provinces, districts, towns of Southern Vietnam controlled by dignitaries of Palace of Divine Alliance such as: Pham Duy Nhung, Nguyen Minh Ngoi, Huynh Van Huong, Nguyen Thanh Nguyen, Nguyen Van Tu, Nguyen Ngoc Tran, Nguyen Huu Khoe, Tran Tan Hoi, Bui Van Tiep, Do Hoang Giam,…belonging to the campaign board of POCEP of Southern Vietnam. This was a great obstacle for Ngo Dinh Diem regime at that time. Therefore, the government of Southern Vietnam carried out suppressing Caodaism Sacerdotal Council of Tay Ninh Holy See by dominating Caodaism Sacerdotal Council to hand over the bone-ash of Cuong De to Trang Cu and Trang Liet for worship in Hue that Caodaism Sacerdotal Council has been worshiping for one year at the Bao An Duong (Temple of Gratitude). They got an intrigue to destroy everything for vestige of His Holiness Cuong De King in holy land of Sacerdotal Council of Tay Ninh Holy See.

After the Chief of Tay Ninh province Nguyen Van Vang and Deputy President Nguyen Ngoc Tho suppressed the Sacerdotal Council in a meeting lasting 2 hours, the elder brother Hien Phap (Religious Constitution) Truong Huu Duc felt angry. With position of behalf of Caodaism Sacerdotal Council of Tay Ninh Holy See, he was suppressed, the Religious Constitution Truong Huu Duc left the meeting room with reason of weak health to let Sacerdotal Council discuss with the Government delegation under guidance of Deputy President Nguyen Ngoc Tho.

They knew clearly about retire of Religious Constitution Truong Huu Duc, the Chief of Tay Ninh province Nguyen Van Vang just accepted the word “Receipt” suggested by Commissary of Justice Le Quang Tan at the beginning time, to persist the noun “Deliver” used before. They had to write clearly “Receipt” paper.

The discussion for nouns “Receipt” and “Deliver” has been completed by “Receipt” paper and the Sacerdotal Council yielded the Government delegation for taking bone-ash of His Holiness Cuong De King worshipped at the Temple of Gratitude.

After delegation of Deputy President Nguyen Ngoc Tho had suppressed the Sacerdotal Council about taking bone-ash of His Holiness Cuong De at Temple of Gratitude, they went to Holy See to kowtow SUPREME BEING. When going out the perrons, they were stopped by Archivist Le Quang Tan with the help of Archivist Nguyen Ngoc Tran because they did not give a “Receipt”. The Deputy President Nguyen Ngoc Tho could not catch a car. Therefore, the Deputy President had to instructed Chief of Province Vang to hand over a “Receipt” according to the suggestion of Archivist Le Quang Tan. The Deputy President was stopped suddenly, he was angry, touchy and he ordered: “Vang, give them a receipt”.

Facing on the constrained situation, the Chief of province Nguyen Van Vang had to hand over Archivist Le Quang Tan a receipt certifying that the bone-ash of His Holiness Ky Ngoai Hau Cuong De. The Deputy President Nguyen Ngoc Tho concurrently called Lieutenant Chief of Police of Tay Ninh province to stay closely, and asked the Lieutenant Phuoc: “I consign two persons to you”. The event made a tumult for dignitaries and disciples around with a short instruction of Deputy President Tho including profound threat for two Archivist Le Quang Tan and Nguyen Ngoc Tran.

Whatever must happen will happen naturally. Because of face in front of crowded people, the Deputy President Tho just consigned the Archivist Le Quang Tan and Nguyen Ngoc Tran to Chief Police of Tay Ninh province in that way. All dignitaries thought that the accident would happen to two Archivists Tan and Tran.

Actually, three days lasted, the Chief of Police of Tay Ninh province Nguyen Van Vang invited two Archivists Le Quang Tan and Nguyen Ngoc Tran to Administration Department of Tay Ninh province to question many hot affairs. However, the power of Sacerdotal Council was still strong, everything elapsed smoothly.

It was thought that in 1926, population of Tay Ninh province did not reached 40,000 persons. However, when opening Great Way-Third Period-Universal Salvation by SUPREME BEING in Vietnam country via choosing Tay Ninh to create Caodaism Holy See, compatriots from provinces went to Tay Ninh Holy See more and more crowded and the population increased to 400,000 persons in 1956.

With two empty hands, His Holiness Ho Phap and some Dignitaries and Disciples named as “forebear” positively believed in Caodaism GOD regardless of hard miseries to take great pain of cleaning stones and trees in order to change 96 wild forest hectares with cruel animals into a populous and rich Holy Land with a splendid and luxurious Holy See containing many palaces, offices, services, schools, university institute, old people service, orphan service, hospital, Wisdom Palace, Enlightenment Palace, Dharma Palace,… which can be compared with world wonders. Especially, everything was created and guided by His Holiness Ho Phap.

When travelers visit the Caodaism Tay Ninh Holy See, nobody thinks that this was ever a wild forest with no step when the sun declined. Nowadays, it is a crowded town with many nonresident people.

There is an evidence for travelers and religious delegations that we can see a line of ancient trees in front of Holy See named as “Natural Forest” – a historical monument considered as a powerful mass of belief of Caodaism Disciples. Without machine, two empty hands made the wild forest 96 hectares prosperous in a record time of 3 months with many broad roads such as Binh Duong road,…with bridges such as Doan Tran Kieu bridge or Giai Kho Kieu bridge,…with 20 Parishes circling the Holy Land, with houses built in order and lines belonging suburb of Holy See connecting with gates of Holy See. Beside, His Holiness Ho Phap also had an initiative of creating an Avenue of Main Gate that disciples often called as an Avenue of Transasia. It means that this Avenue will connect with Asia countries in the future.

There is a special affair for traveler visiting Holy See. Nobody can forget the Flower Dragon Market always selling vegetarian foods only. The remarkable point is about the suitable price, suitable measurement with happiness and modest attitude for customers regardless of people coming anywhere. That is a pride of Caodaism Disciples in protecting good repute of Flower Dragon Market that tourist delegations often praise: “The Flower Dragon Market is very elegant, model”. The rumour about Flower Dragon Market always engrave in travelers. The Caodaism Disciples belonging many generations growing up in magnanimous and pious Holy Land never neglected service of His Holiness Ho Phap taking great pains to train and arrange everything in order to be worthy as “Flower Dragon Town” with standard model of politeness, of cordiality, of consideration, of responsibility in communicating with customers. That was a remarkable point of Flower Dragon Market at that time.

His Holiness Ho Phap often reminded and instructed Dignitaries, Sub-dignitaries and Disciples about making merit in the Great Way. The SUPREME BEING does not only consider Dignitaries nominated especially, but HE also considers all disciples regardless male or female disciples with complete belief toward SUPREME BEING and MOTHER BUDDHA, knowing to enthusiastically sacrifice the carnal body by making merit. They will determinedly obtain divine positions readily given by SUPREME BEING. There are many brilliant examples such as Saint Mang and Saint Bui Ai Thoai that all disciples know clearly. They were disciples doing merits as a mason, drawer with great pains in building the Holy See but they could obtain the position of Saint – a greatly divine position which has been saved readily by SUPREME BEING for pious disciples leaving the carnal bodies.

A special tradition of “Student thanks Teacher” of Tay Ninh province is still handed down that His Holiness Ho Phap always took care and preserved it. With a spirit “Respect teacher and virtuous person”, His Holiness Ho Phap praised that sample and spirit of a student always thanking graces of His teacher with hard train from young age to a useful man for society.

According to yearly custom for each new year coming, on 3 of New Year of lunar calendar, even His Holiness Ho Phap was a Dignitary leading Caodaism of Tay Ninh Holy See, His Holiness Ho Phap Pham Cong Tac did not forget the duty of a student for His teacher teaching him before. His Holiness Ho Phap worn a National Dress named as long and black dress, worn a black turban went to His last teacher named as Provincial Education Officer Giang in order to congratulate to His teacher in new year with respect. For this point, His Holiness Ho Phap handed over a brilliant and noble sample for 3 millions of disciples for “Respect teacher and virtuous person” and compatriots of Tay Ninh province about “Student thanks Teacher”.

Due to living ideal for people, for whole humankind by a Peaceful Theory and Concord World, foremost plight of compatriots of two regions of Southern and Northern Vietnam, His Holiness Ho Phap composed a letter No. 21/HP-VPHN dated 26^th March 1956 to Mr. Ho Chi Minh – President of Republic Democratic Vietnam and Mr. Ngo Dinh Diem – President of Democratic Vietnam, containing a program of unifying Vietnam. That letter was sent to two persons so that they could study and find a helpful method and they could complement something into gaps so that governments of two regions of Southern and Northern Vietnam could carry out the peace for Vietnamese race. In order to meet correctly the aspiration of compatriots on over country, in order to especially appeal the patriotic and intense passion of two persons Ho Chi Minh and Ngo Dinh Diem, the letter appealed to ignore all personal hates, prejudices to prevent foreign countries trespassing internal power of Vietnam in order to find a method of saving country.

His Holiness Ho Phap spontaneously sacrificed His carnal body to serve humankind by shouldering all miseries of people in order to win misery and release misery. Therefore, His Holiness Ho Phap usually reminded, taught all Dignitaries and Disciples: “If power and law founded on this earth are not contrary to psychology of humankind, they will progress according to evolution of humankind to preserve life of humankind in order to be eternal and happy. Actually, the Tao of life contains a reality in that way!”. His Holiness Ho Phap also taught: “the SUPREME BEING comes to found the Great Way-Third Period-Universal Salvation in Vietnam, SUPREME BEING does not force HIS disciples to do something beyond their capacity, SUPREME BEING only forces HIS disciples to make the love and justice natural on this earth. In that way, the Caodaism will become real in its physiognomy”.

As the age was older and older, the strength was weaker and weaker with worry about compatriots of two regions of Southern and Northern Vietnam divide in two, with affection of foreign country’s power. Many tragic situations of compatriot and disciple happened repeatedly, His Holiness Ho Phap worried so much and became ill in high blood pressure. His Holiness Ho Phap hand to be cured in Foundation Calmette hospital in Phnom Penh Capital.

On the bed in hospital, His Holiness Ho Phap invited Dignitaries belong Religious Province of Cambodia in Phnom Penh to hear final teachings: “Ban Dao/I return the Heaven and leave this carnal body in Cambodia provisionally in a period. Whenever, the fatherland reaches peace, union or it acts correctly the policy of neutral peace, My Lotus Throne will be moved to Tay Ninh Holy See”.

The elder brother Archbishop Thai Khi Thanh – Religious Region of Cambodia on behalf of all male and female dignitaries respectfully replied: “disciple, I completely obey Your order”. His Holiness Ho Phap continued to say: “Ban Dao/I provisionally leave this carnal body in Cambodia, it means that I want to together endure division in two of fatherland of compatriots of two Southern and Northern regions. I have predicted already, whatever happens will happen naturally. The country has not been unified, it is not urgent to return the country. Therefore, be calm to wait a period, you will see the divine mechanism changing usefully for Vietnam about spirit.

His Holiness Ho Phap concurrently sent a profound and friendly letter to Head of State Norodom Sihanouk a last word and to the King Norodom Surmarit (Father King of prince Sianouk) (Both letters were written by French).

The provisional translation of last word sent to Head of State Norodom Sihanouk:

I/Poor Monk send these speeches to Young Royal Highness when I am on the sick-bed of the Cainotte hospital. My heath more and more declines and I think that I will not be able to live for long time.

Therefore, I send these final speeches to Young Royal Highness and the Royal Government of Cambodia with faithful thanks toward the liberal treatment of Young Royal Highness and the Royal Government given to Me and the retinue, all My Disciples.

I respectfully pray the CAO DAI SUPREME BEING and the Sakyamuni Buddha to bless Cambodia and Young Royal Highness in order to especially carry out the Peace-Neutral policy successfully and honourably and My special and favour policy of “Coexisting Peacefully” that I have wasted My health and life that I could not complete.

With whole My heart, I wish that our beloved motherland – Vietnam can pursue that policy in the someday near in joining with Cambodia on the peaceful path and with other race communities, especially that is Cambodia-Vietnam.

I will be quietly pleased to kindly visit Young Royal Highness in final time with My thanks expressed. However, I do not know I can wait until the arrival date of Young Royal Highness with My weak health.

However, due to our close and senior friendship and on behalf of love and the friendship between the Cambodia race and Vietnam race, and on behalf of undivided future of both nations Cambodia and Vietnam, I kindly petition Young Royal Highness with the special and final favour for the our Temple without being destroyed in order to keep as My a unique souvenir in the Cambodia.

To help you – Young Royal Highness have a true conception about the situation passing, I respectfully send you Young Royal Highness the copy of My petition sent to the Majesty.

I have to leave this earth here, I kindly petition that you – Young Royal Highness permit Me to consign the corpse in the Cambodia in temporary time under the highest protection of the Cambodia Royal Government. Whenever, we beloved motherland – Vietnam may have unity under the Peaceful-Neutral policy, for My drift life, our Disciples will move My corpse to Tay Ninh Holy See back.

I respectfully petition Young Royal Highness and Royal Government that after I die, please let Retinue and all My Male and Female Followers be easy in behavior as before so that they can lead Religious life according to our eligious way.

I have known that Young Royal Highness would deign this petition. I will close eyes peacefully and will bring the sweetest memories in My life. I kindly petition that Young Royal Highness accept My eternal grace.

The last word of His Holiness Ho Phap expresses a magnanimous uprightness for serving humankind when living, aspiration for peace of Vietnam when dying.

Even He was on sick-bed, He call one by one of dignitaries to recommend detail of all affairs, responsibility of each dignitary. Especially, His Holiness Ho Phap guided retinue dignitaries of exile delegation many necessary affairs for future situations.

One careful event which had not ever happened happened that after sending the letter of last word to Head of State Norodom Sihanouk on 14^th May 1959 recorded in “Hand-over Notebook” by the Archivist Le Quang Tan in journey to Royal Palace to deliver and sign in the notebook clearly. However, His Holiness Ho Phap also called elder brother Principal Archbishop Thai Khi Thanh – the Religious Region of Cambodia to teach at the sick-bed: “The Saturday is a day that the King Nordom Surmarit meets people according to weekly custom, Gentle Younger Friend and Priest Thai Dong Thanh go to the Royal Palace to meet King Surmarit in order to submit the My last word so that he can know clearly”.

They obeyed His Holiness Ho Phap, the elder brother Principal Archbishop Thai Khi Thanh and Priest Thai Dong Thanh went to the Royal Palace on the morning of Saturday. They were arranged to kowtow at the third line among Cambodian kowtowing to wait Surmarit King meeting people.

How special! The Norodom Sumarit King just arrived at the audience courtyard. He saw people kowtowing with two Caodaism Dignitaries in white dress. He immediately went to Mr. Thai Khi Thanh and Thai Dong Thanh to receive the last word then to open and say: “Go back and reply to His Holiness Ho Phap, the King has received the last word and accepted all requests”.

The elder brother Principal Archbishop Thai Khi Thanh and Priest Thai Dong Thanh bowed good-bye the King to leave the Royal Palace and went straight to Calmette hospital in order to submit their mission assigned by His Holiness Ho Phap.

After His Holiness Ho Phap had taught male and female dignitaries in final days continuously, His Holiness Ho Phap returned to Heaven from the hospital in Phnom Penh capital at 13.30pm on 17^th May 1959. 50,000 Caodaism disciples in Cambodia were very touched when hearing the death of His Holiness Ho Phap. His body was taken to Caodaism Temple belonging to Cambodia Religion Region (Toul Sway Prey), District 5, Phnom Penh capital for funeral. His Holiness lived to be 70 years old.

The return to Heaven of His Holiness Ho Phap engraved an absolute regret in heart of Caodaism Disciples. Three millions of heart with a rthythm of heart were directed toward Phnom Penh Capital to commemorate the merit of supreme leader sacrificing completely his carnal body to serve humankind. 50,000 Caodaism disciples in Cambodia had a favour to gather at the Phnom Penh Temple in mourning in 10 days and nights by watching at the Lotus Throne with chanting in bell and wooden bell.

Beside, the representatives of other Religions from distant provinces such as Siemriep, Kompongthom, Kopong Cham, Soayrieng, Pursat, Takeo, Kapot, Miot, Kratíe, Battambang,…came to condole with the Sacerdotal Council and parted forever from His Holiness with wreath of commemorative flower containing profound union in Religious relation. The Diplomatic delegations in Phnom Penh Capital concurrently also came to commemorated His Holiness Ho Phap with nice flowers from receiving the political program of POCEP of His Holiness Ho Phap and parted forever from a great man of 20^th century completely sacrificing to serve the peace for humankind.

There was a remarkable point in funeral that there was the attendance of Prime Minister Pen Nouth behalf of Cambodia Royal Government guiding a delegation to came to condole with the Sacerdotal Council and put a wreath of commemorative flower and did rite in front of Lotus Throne of His Holiness Ho Phap solemnly.

A Buddhism delegation on behalf of all monks and nuns came to chant and put a wreath of commemorative flower to condole and attend the ceremonial of Lotus Throne entering the Precious Tower in order to reciprocate two journeys of His Holiness Ho Phap from Tay Ninh Holy See to previous Buddhism ceremonials in Phnom Penh with deep conversion about dharma. In 1950-1952, all Cambodia Buddhists invited His Holiness Ho Phap twice for meeting with exchange of views.

In the Northern Vietnam, female Bishop Huong Du on behalf of Caodaism Sacerdotal Council of Tay Ninh Holy See at the Hanoi Caodaism Temple celebrated a commemorative rite solemnly with attendance of Northern Government of Republic Democratic Vietnam.

How noble! After a foreign journey, he had just come back Phnom Penh Capital, the Head of State Norodom Sihanouk attended a press conference as a chairman with international journalists and Chief of Information Department of Cambodia Royal Government. The Head of State Norodom Sihanouk answered a question of Mr. Giang Kim – director of Huu Nghi daily newspaper pressed in Phnom Penh as the following:

“I regret my return the country that I can not meet His Holiness Ho Phap in the last time. When returning, He has left. I will completely accept requests of His Holiness Ho Phap. I would like you to pass to Caodaism Disciples that I have given an order to Government to carry out requests of His Holiness Ho Phap correctly”.

For Dignitaries and disciples of Southern Vietnam, the strict regime did not permit the Sacerdotal Council and Disciples to celebrate the funeral. The tears of pious disciples were prohibited by tyrannical power. That made hearts of disciples as loyal to His Holiness Ho Phap more and more touching.

However, with wonderfully loyal and patient hearts of male and female Dignitaries and Disciples, they discreetly celebrated the funeral of His Holiness Ho Phap solemnly regardless of dangers. Until end of 1963, the elimination rule ended a regime naturally, therefore the commemoration of His Holiness Ho Phap returning the Heaven was promulgated formally for all Temples on over the country by Caodaism Sacerdotal Council of Tay Ninh Holy See in order to celebrate a rite of “Returning the Heaven” to commemorate the merit on 10 April. Thus, this day is chosen to yearly commemoration.

His Holiness Ho Phap was due to purpose of saving earth, of saving human beings that he disregarded His body by completely sacrificing His life and after all, He left in other country in order to endure the situation of division in two of Southern and Northern Regions with compatriots. He was a great man of 20^th century in ringing a bell of awaking the people’s desire on this earth. His Holiness Ho Phap is a brilliant, noble, moral and extremely high example serving humankind to lead to the peace and concord world. It means to enlighten the path for humankind to step on the perfectly good and path in relation of brothers with one same father.

Our ancestors often remind: “There is a house when living, a grave when dying”. However, our venerated His Holiness Ho Phap returned to Heaven in the strange region with a simple Lotus Throne in wind, dew, rain and sunlight. The GOD will would rather preordain that.

There was a divine mystery making a stir for the world happening in France about the return of His Holiness Ho Phap, recorded by female medium Sarah Bartel receiving and writing in the space toward the return to Heaven of global head of Caodaism - His Holiness Ho Phap (Le Lien magazine No. 4 of June 1959, page 30). The female medium Sarah Bartel wrote:

“To unify al lspirit disciple on over country”

“Groan but hope!”

“With spirits in West”

“We have a duty for our Eastern brothers and sisters and Eastern pole. That is the duty cooperating spirit, cooperating brothers in order to know invisible world clearly”

One voice in space speaks to us as the following:

“If the morality gives a happy life because the morality is a noble love, the love will be same to love for all humankind and universe”.

“What is that voice that people hear clearer and clearer while the carnal ears can not hear? What is that voice outside objects and it exists at thousand places of world that quiet and spacious hearts in West, East or North and South are waiting to receive the same Divine Messages to expound profoundly the harmony of heart?”

His Holiness Ho Phap Pham Cong Tac just left the carnal body on 17^th May 1959 in Phnom Penh Capital. On the predetermined time, Spirits holding golden covers went to welcome Him. Evil Geniuses are dismissed away in a dark and far-away line like molding a Heaven scenery enlarged forever”.

“Many invisible superiors wear red divine dress. Other group wears green divine dress. In addition, one other group wears yellow divine dress. There are also thousand superiors wearing white divine dress”.

“The superiors wearing white divine dress say that: the clemency is a knot of love to set up us to serve the compassion completely”.

“After all, the superiors wearing red dress declare: strength is the love to help us endure all sufferings for all things that we love them”.

“Four groups finish speaking, “voice” of all voices in heart of each person regardless of living in heaven or earth or medium world speaks: Four colors combines in one”.

“He has debased Himself to go to earth to become a good Head Ho Phap Pham Cong Tac! Come back to my heart – the voice of all voices”.
