Aconitum carmichaelii Debx. is a well-known herbal medicine for its excellent pharmacological effects and toxicity. The diterpenoid alkaloids are the major bioactive compounds in the tubers of Aconitum carmichaelii and have been widely used due to their predominant analgesic, antipyretic, anti-rheumatoid arthritis, and anti-inflammation effects. Our phytochemical investigation of the roots led to the isolation of three alkaloids, hokbusine A (1), hypaconitine (2), fuziline (3) and two benzoic acid derivatives 3-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzoic acid (4), and benzoic acid (5). Their structures were elucidated by means of MS and 2D NMR spectroscopic methods.
