5.4. Suggestions for Future Studies
Future studies that are interested in applying
cognitive linguistics to
teaching prepositions may find some ways to eliminate the weaknesses of the
present study emerging from the participants’ comments. Besides, if cognitive
linguistics can improve learners’ both explicit and implicit knowledge of
prepositions can be another topic for future studies. What is more, immediate
posttest and delayed posttest can be used to measure learners’ retention of the
semantics of prepositions. Last but not least, it is essential
to conduct studies
applying cognitive linguistics to teaching other English prepositions in other
contexts.
