Diễn tả một hành động:- thường xuyên xảy ra , Hành động lặp đi & Một sự thật hiển nhiên.






ii. “ Too …..to” or “enough…to”

I.Too ….to : quá …không thể.

- Được dùng để chỉ một nguyên nhân đưa tới một kết quả phủ định.

* Form: Too + adj/adv + to –inf

* Eg: - He is too young to go to school.

- She ran too slowly to catch the train.

- Nếu động từ theo sau diễn tả một sự việc được thực hiện bởi một chủ ngữ khác với chủ ngữ của động từ đi trước thì ta dùng:

* Form: Too + adj/adv + for + somebody + to –inf

* Eg : - The questions are too difficult for us to answer.

- The box was too heavy for the children to carry.
II.Enough to …: đủ …để có thể.

- Được dùng để chỉ một nguyên nhân đưa tới một kết quả tất nhiên.

* Form: adj/adv + enough + to – inf

* Eg: - He is sick enough to need a doctor.

- The policeman ran fast enough to catch the thief.

- Nếu động từ theo sau diễn tả một sự việc được thực hiện bởi chủ ngữ khác với chủ ngữ của động từ đi trước thì ta dùng :

* Form: adj/ adv + enough + for + somebody + to – inf

* Eg: - The exercises are easy enough for you to do.

- He spoke English slowly enough for us to understand.

IV. MUST – HAVE TO – OUGHT TO.

1. Must(ph¶i): Lµ ®éng tõ khuyÕt thiÕu ®­îc dïng ®Ó diÔn t¶:

a. Sù b¾t buéc hay sù cÇn thiÕt cã tÝnh chñ quan ( do c¶m nghÜ cña ng­êi nãi ).

Eg: + He must do this exercise again.

b. TÝnh quy t¾c hay luËt lÖ.

Eg: We must drive on the right.

2. Have to (ph¶i): DiÔn t¶ sù b¾t buéc hay sù cÇn thiÕt cã tÝnh kh¸ch quan ( do yÕu tè bªn ngoµi ).

Eg: Your eyes are weak. You have to wear glasses.



  • Chó ý: - Mustn’t: Hoµn toµn mang tÝnh chÊt b¾t buéc.

Eg: You mustn’t go out after 9 p.m.

- Don’t / doesn’t have to: Mang tÝnh chÊt kh«ng cÇn thiÕt.

I .Gerunds.

Sử dụng trong các trường hợp sau:

1. Sau một số động từ như: admit, appreciate, avoid, consider, delay, deny, discuss, dislike, enjoy, fancy, finish, imagine, involve, keep(on), mention, mind,miss, postpone,practise, prefer, quit, recall, recommend, resent,risk resist, suggest, tolerate,….

Eg: + Tony dislikes driving small car.

+ Would you mind waiting for a moment ?

+ Have you finished reading that book ?

2. Sau c¸c côm tõ nh­ : be/get accustomed to, be/get used to, object to, look forward to, take to, in addition to, be busy, be worth, have a good time/difficulty in.

Eg: + The children were not used to living in the country.

+ They are looking forward to traveling abroad.

3. Sau giíi tõ hoÆc ®éng tõ + giíi tõ.( about, of, without, with, in, on, after, before…..)

Like, love, hate, begin, start, continue, intend, prefer, can’t bear,… cã thÓ cã c¶ d¹ng “ to-inf ” vµ d¹ng “ V-ing ” mµ vÒ mÆt chØ cã mét Ýt hoÆc kh«ng cã sù kh¸c nhau nµo c¶.

Eg: Tim loves to play / playing tennis.



V. Mét sè ®éng tõ cã thÓ ®­îc theo sau bëi mét to-inf hoÆc V-ing nh­ng mang nghÜa kh¸c nhau.

a. Stop: + To-inf: ng­ng lµm ®iÒu g× ®ã ®Ó lµm mét ®iÒu kh¸c

+ V-ing: ng­ng h¼n mét viÖc g× ®ã

  • Đối với tính từ, trạng từ ngắn.

  • Đối với tính từ, trạng từ dài.

Eg: + He is saving money in order to / so as to go on holiday.


+ In order to raise the class’s fund, we collect waste paper.
Structure: S + V + O + in order (not) to / so as (not) to + V(bare-inf) + O

II. Modal “will”: make requests, offers and promises.

1. Will + you + V(bare-inf) + O + A/M,please? DiÔn t¶ lêi yªu cÇu.

Eg: Will you turn off the fan,please?

2. I + will + V + O + A?M. DiÔn t¶ lêi ®Ò nghÞ lµm viÖc g× ®ã cho ai.

D¹y thªm buæi 3.

I. Would / Do you mind……….? : DiÔn t¶ lêi yªu cÇu lÞch sù.

a. Would / Do you mind + V-ing……?: Yªu cÇu ai ®ã lµm g× cho m×nh.

Eg: + Would you mind telling me the result of the exam ?

+ Would you mind not smoking here ?

+ Do you mind turning off the fan ?



b. Would / Do you mind if + clause? : DiÔn t¶ yªu cÇu ®­îc lµm ®iÒu g× cho ai.

Eg: + Would you mind if I opened the window ?


Would you mind if + clause ( in past simple ) ?
Eg: + Do you mind if I open the window ?
Do you mind if + clause ( in present simple ) ?
II. - ED and - ING participles : §­îc dïng ®Ó rót gän mÖnh ®Ò tÝnh tõ.

Eg: + The boy is Ba. He is reading a book.



The boy reading a book is Ba.

+ There are many books. They are written in English.



There are many books written in English.

(*) – ING participles: DiÔn t¶ sù kiÖn hay hµnh ®éng ®ang x¶y ra.

(*) – ED participles: DiÔn t¶ nghÜa bÞ ®éng.

III.Th× qu¸ khø tiÕp diÔn (Past progressive).

* Form: (+) S + Was/ were + V- ing + O.



(-) S + Was/ were + not + V- ing + O.

(?) Was/ were + S + V- ing + O?

Yes, S + were/was.

No, S + were/was-not.

  • Eg: I was doing my homework at 6 p.m last Sunday.

I was cooking while my sister was washing the dishes.

  • C¸ch dïng :

  • DiÔn t¶ một hành ®éng ®ang x¶y ra trong qu¸ khø thêi gian x¸c ®ịnh cô thÓ

  • DiÔn t¶ hai hay nhiÒu hành ®éng cïng x¶y ra trong qu¸ khø

Eg:+ Last night, I was reading book while my father was watching

TV.


+ The light went out when the storm came.

  • DiÔn t¶ một hành ®éng x¶y ra th× một hành ®éng kh¸c bÊt chît x¶y ®Õn trong qu¸ khø.

Eg: + The mailman came while I was sleeping.

+ We were singing when the teacher came.

I. Compound nouns: Mét sè danh tõ ®­îc cÊu t¹o bëi mét danh tõ (noun) víi mét danh ®éng tõ (gerund).

1. Noun + Gerund: danh tõ lµm tóc tõ cho dang ®éng tõ.

Eg: + fire – making

+ rice – cooking

+ water – fetching.......

2. Gerund + Noun: danh ®éng tõ ph©n lo¹i danh tõ, chØ lo¹i vµ môc ®Ých cho danh tõ.

Eg: + washing – machine

+ working – condition

+ waiting – room

* Víi lo¹i danh tõ nµy, gi÷a danh tõ vµ danh ®éng tõ lu«n cã dÊu nèi.



II. Reported speech:

- Lêi nãi gi¸n tiÕp lµ t­êng thuËt l¹i ý cña ng­êi nãi.

5.Trạng từ chỉ nơi chốn vµ ®¹i tõ chØ ®Þnh.

- Tom said to me,” I’ll meet you this Friday”

* C¸c lo¹i c©u gi¸n tiÕp:

1. C©u mÖnh lÖnh, yªu cÇu vµ lêi khuyªn.(Command, request and advice ).

Trong lêi nãi gi¸n tiÕp lo¹i c©u nµy ®­îc b¾t ®Çu b»ng ®éng tõ: asked, told, ordered, advised,…

Eg: -“ Hurry up, Lan”

-> He told Lan to hurry up.

- “ Shut the door”

-> He ordered them to shut the door.

- “ Don’t leave the room”.

-> He told them not to leave the room.

- “ You should stop chatting on the Internet, Mark,” Jane said.

-> Jane advised Mark to stop chatting on the Internet.


* Structures (C«ng thøc):

S + V ( asked / told / advised ) + O + to ( not to ) + infinitive.

* Chó ý : Mét sè ®éng tõ kh¸c còng ®­îc sö dông theo h×nh thøc trªn: persuade, remind, forbid, warn,….



2. Câu nghi vấn(Interogative).

  1. Yes/ No – questions.

Trong lời nói gián tiếp loại câu hỏi này được mở đầu bằng các động từ “ ask, wonder …” và theo sau có “if/ whether”.

*Eg: - “ Have you seen that film?” he told her

-> He asked if she had seen that film.

- “ Will Tom be here tomorrow?.” She told

-> She wondered whether Tom would be there the day after.

*Strutures ( Công thức):


S + asked / wanted to know + (O) + If / whether + clause ( lïi th× ).

b. Wh – questions ( who,what, where, why, when,how much/ many/ long” trong câu gián tiếp loại câu này được mở đầu bằng các động từ “ ask, require, wonder,..”

* Eg: - “ What time does the film begin?.”

-> He asked what time the film begun.

- “ What will you do tomorrow?

-> She wondered what I would do the next day.



*Strutures (Công thức):

S + asked / wanted to know + wh-qs + clause ( lïi th× )

3. C©u ph¸t biÓu (Statements).

Trong c©u gi¸n tiÕp lo¹i c©u ph¸t biÓu nµy th­êng ®­îc b¾t ®Çu b»ng c¸c ®éng tõ nh­ “ said, told ”.

* Eg: - He told me, “ I like oranges.”

He said (that) he liked oranges.


* Strutures (C«ng thøc).

S + told (O) / said (to + O) + ( that) + clause (lïi th×)

III. Question – words + infinitive.

C¸c tõ hái cã thÓ ®­îc theo sau bëi mét ®éng tõ nguyªn mÉu.

Eg: + He can tell you where to buy some stamps.

+ She doesn’t know what to say to her mother.

  • Động từ bÞ động: Be + PII (ed/cét 3).

  • Chủ ngữ chủ động -> t©n ngữ bị động ( trước cã giới từ by).
