• Do you prefer shopping alone or with others? Why? 
• What kind of shops are there where you live?
Part 2 Individual long turn

Describe a gadget you could not live without.
You should say:
what the gadget is
what you use it for
how long you have been using it
and explain why you could not live without it.  
You will have to talk about the topic for 1 to 2 minutes. 
You have one minute to think about what you’re going to say. 
You can make some notes to help you if you wish. 
Part 3 Two-way discussion
• What types of things usually make people happy?
• Do you think people will be happier in the future, or less happy?
• Would you say that people in your country are more materialistic nowadays than 
in the past? Why/Why not?
• Should governments do more to promote people’s happiness and well-being?
