11.3 Future developments
in diagnostic systems
11.3.1 Introduction
The latest generation of OBD is a very sophisti-
cated and capable system for detecting emissions
problems. However, it is necessary to get the
driver of the vehicle to do something about the
problem.
With respect to this aspect, OBD2/
EOBD is no improvement over OBD1 unless
there is some enforcement capability.
