Name: World Health Organization (WHO).
The WHO was established on April 7 ,1948, and headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.
As of January 2021, the WHO has 194 member states and Viet Nam has been a member since 17th May 1950.
WHO’s aim is the attainment by all people of the highest possible level of health
Its provides technical assistance to countries, sets international health standards, collects data on global health issues, and serves as a forum for scientific or policy discussions related to health.
I ts current priorities included communicable diseases, such as HIV/AIDS, Ebola, malaria, and tuberculosis; non-communicable diseases such as heart disease and cancer; healthy diet, nutrition, and food security; occupational health; and substance abuse.
To Viet Nam, WHO was one of the first United Nations agencies to support the Vietnamese health sector directly since the and of the war and reunification of the country. The mission of WHO in Viet Nam is to support the Government to achieve universal health coverage with all people having access to high-quality health services, within the context of the country’s needs and challenges in transitioning to middle-income status.
