S + V + much/far + adj/adv + er + than + noun/ pronoun

Eg: He is much/ far taller than his father.

S + V + much/ far + more adj/ adv + than + noun/ pronoun

Eg: His house is much/ far more expensive than mine.

  1. Superlatives

  1. Short adjectives/ adverbs.

S + V + the + adj/adv + est + (in/ of …… )

Eg: She is the tallest girl in our class.

He runs the fastest of all.



  1. Long adj/ adv

S + V + the most adj/adv + ( in/ of ……)

Eg: This is the most difficult lesson.

He does sums the most quickly of all.



  • We use:

  • in” + singular N/ uncountable N.

  • of” + plural N/ N of time

  • the least + adj/adv”

  • We often use the present perfect tense after a superlative/ comparative.

Eg: What is the best movie have you ever seen?

I have never seen a better movie than this one.



  • We don’t use “ unique, full, empty, square, daily, prime, top, absolutely, ….” in comparisons. If we want to use them, we must omit “more’.

Eg: His drawings are ferfect than mine.
