HĐ là một đoàn thể vui tươi và trẻ trung. Để thể hiện tin thần nầy, HĐS nơi nơi đều ca hát. Chúng ta hát để biều dương ý chí, tình đồng đội và nói lên đường hướng tình cảm của chúng ta, của đoàn. Muốn vậy chúng ta phải nhớ vài nguyên tắc sau đây:

Hát không có nghiã là la hát om sòm.

Hát phải giữ đúng nhịp và cung.
-
Không nên hát những bài thô tục làm hạ phẩm gía của chính mình, gây ảnh hưởng xấu cho người chung quanh và có thể vô tình gây ra sự hiểu lầm về gía trị giáo dục của phong trào.

Scouting is a cheerful and youthful organization. To express this spirit, Scouts sing everywhere. We sing to express our determination, team spirit, and feelings. To do so, we must remember a few rules:

Singing is not yelling.

A scout must maintain the rhythm and melody of the song when singing.

Never sing an inappropriate song to disgrace our values or have a bad influence on others.

Dẹp: Thường được dùng để nối hai đầu dây bằng nhau hay cột gói quà. Nên nhớ phải là hai đầu dây phải bằng nhau khi cột nút dẹp. Nếu không dây sẽ bị tuột khi bị sức kéo quá mạnh. Củng là nút tượng trưng cho gia nhập HĐ.

Square knot: is used to bind a package or knotting the two ropes with the same size. The two ropes have to be the same size. If not, it will slip under force. Remember: left over right and under; right over left and under - or the reverse, whichever is easier for you. It is also known as a joining knot as joining HĐ.

1. Hold both ends of the rope side by side.

1. Make an underhand rope with the short end ovet the long end.
|
2. Loop the shorter rope under the long rope to create a figure eight.
|

3. Pass the short end into the first loop from the top.
|
4. Pull both ends of the rope.

5. The knot will formed a perfect figure 8.

Running: is also known as hangman knot. The knot is good to imobolize a moving object such as an animal and bundle of wood. The more we pulled the rope or the object moved, the rope will be tighter.

Biết mục đích HĐ
-
Thiên Nhiên-HĐ sẽ cho ta những sinh hoạt ngoài trời lành mạnh. Là một người HĐ, ta có thể đi cắm trại và thám du mà không để lại một vết dấu nơi ta đã đi qua và ta biết cách giữ gìn thiên nhiên. Ta theo dõi thú hoang và những cành vật chung quanh. Ta sẽ biết rất nhiều chuyên môn HĐ. Hay hơn hết, ta sẽ có dịp dạy những gì ta biết cho người khác.

Bạn hữu- HĐ sẽ tạo cơ hội cho ta có thêm nhiều anh chị em tốt. Ta có thể đã biết một số người trong đội và sẽ biết thêm nhiều người khác nưã trong khi sinh hoạt HĐ. Một số bạn quen được sẽ trở thành những người bạn tốt lâu dài.

Thăng tiến- ta sẽ có cơ hội đoạt được băng HĐ cao qúy nhất như Eagle Scout hay Gold Award nếu thật sự chú tâm vào.

Hữu dụng-HĐ sẽ giúp cho ta có những khả năng để đóng góp cho chính ta, gia đình, cộng đồng, xã hội, tổ quốc và quốc gia ta một cách hữu hiệu. Sự giúp ích của ta hàng ngày sẽ khiến cho đời sống của những người chung quanh được tốt đẹp hơn.

Cách sống-HĐ sẽ cho ta kinh nghiệm và trách nhiệm để ta nên người khoẻ mạnh và sáng suốt. Lời hứa và điều luật HĐ sẽ hướng dẫn bạn trong HĐ và ngoài đời sống.

Purpose of Scouting

Scouting promises you the great outdoors. As a Scout, you can learn how to camp and hike without leaving a trace and how to take care of the land. You’ll study wildlife up close and learn about nature all around you. There are plenty of skills for you to master, and you can teach others what you have learned. Everyone helping everyone else--that’s part of Scouting, too.

Scouting promises you friendship. Members of the troop you join might be boys you already know, and you will meet many other Scouts along the way. Some could become lifelong friends.

Scouting promises you opportunities to work toward the Eagle Scout rank or Gold Award. You will set goals for yourself and then follow clear routes to achieve them.

Scoutng promises you tools to help you make the most of your family, your community, and your nation. The good deeds you perform every day will improve the lives of those around you. You will be prepared to help others in times of need.

Scouting promises you experiences and duties that will help you mature into a strong, wise individual. The Scout Oath and the Scout Law can guide you while you are a Scout and throughout your life.

The Three points
of the trefoil
stand for the
three parts of the
Scout Oath.
|
The badge is shaped like the north point on an old compass. The design resembles an arrowhead or a trefoil--a flower with three leaves. It is also known by the French name fleur-de-lis, which means lily or iris flower. It is the basic shape of the badges used by Scout organizations in other countries, too.
|
|
There are two stars on the badge. They symbolize truth and knowledge.
The shape of the scout badge means that a Scout can point the right way in life as truly as does a compass in the field.
|
|
The eagle and shield stand for freedom and a Scout's readiness to defend that freedom.
The scroll bearing the scout motto is turned up at the
ends as a reminder that a Scout smiles as he does his duty.

The knot at the bottom of the scroll represents the Scout slogan, Do a Good Turn Daily.

Trefoil or three-leaf clover is the symbol of Girl Scouts. It symbolizes that a scout is always reverent and follows the scout promises. The two stars stand for truth and knowledge.

Hướng Đạo và giao tiếp (Phụ huynh chứng nhận và ký tên)

Đoàn Sinh: Lễ phép là một đức tính tốt của người HĐ và Việt Nam. Chúng ta biết kính trọng ông bà, cha mẹ và người lớn tuổi. Khi chúng ta kính trọng, lễ phép với người khác thì người đó cũng trọng và yêu mến ta.
|
Scouts: Politely greet adults when leaving or returning home is a well-mannered scout as well as a Vietnamese. We need to show respect to our parents, and elders. When we are respectful and polite with others, they will respect us in return.

14(a) Thưa chào người lớn

Trước khi đi đâu hay sau khi đi vế nhà, ta nên thưa chào người lớn trong gia đình, nhất là bố mẹ hay ông bà. Câu chúng ta thường dùng là: “Thưa ba má con đi học” hay “Thưa ba đi làm mới về”. Khi gặp người lớn đến nhà hay ở chung quanh thì: “Chào bác” hay “chào anh tới chơi” hay chỉ cần nói “Chào bác” hay “Chào ông”.

Before leaving or after returning home, a Vietnamese Scout knows how to properly greet the adult in the family, especially the parents or grandparents. The proper verses to use are “Thưa ba má con đi học” or “Thưa ba đi làm mới về”. Whenever you see an adult said: “Chào bác mới bác” or “chào anh tới chơi” or simply said “Chào bác” or “Chào ông”.

Khi nói chuyện với người lớn dù là đối diện (face to face) hay qua điện thoại, người HĐ phải biết xưng hô lễ phép. Chúng ta bắt đầu ‘Chào bác’, ‘Chào chú’ hay ‘Chào anh’ hay ‘Chào chị’. Khi bắt đầu mỗi câu thì có chữ ‘dạ’ hay ‘thưa’ như: ‘Dạ thưa bác…cho cháu nói chuyện với Tâm..hay John’ hay ‘Thưa bác cháu là Michelle. Xin cho cháu nói chuyện với Christine’. Khi xong câu chuyện nên kết thúc bằng câu ‘Cảm ơn bác hay chú’

When conversing with adults face-to-face or by phone, a scout must do it with respect. We start the conversation with ‘Chào bác’, ‘Chào chú’, ‘Chào anh’ or ‘Chào chị’. At each sentence we start with ‘dạ’ or ‘thưa’ such as: ‘Dạ thưa bác…cho cháu nói chuyện với Tâm..hay John’ or ‘Thưa bác cháu là Michelle. Xin cho cháu nói chuyện với Christine’. At the end of the conversation, we need to end it with the phrase ‘Cảm ơn bác hay chú’

Phụ huynh: Để tập cho các em biết nói chuyện lễ phép và đúng theo tinh thần của người Việt chúng ta, xin qúy vị khích lệ các em cách xưng hô trong gia đình cũng như khi giao tiếp với người lớn. Qúy vị hãy theo dõi và chứng nhận cho các em sau khi hoàn tất công việc nầy đều đặn trong 3 tháng.

Parents: With the effort to help the scouts properly and politely talk to adults in Vietnamese, would you please encourage them to properly talk to adults at home or whenever they meet adults. Please observe and sign-off after the scout fulfills this task consistently for 3 months.

Trước khi đi qua, khoá sinh của khoá 1 cần họp với trưởng để thảo luận hai điểm sau

Khóa sinh cho biết cảm tưởng của mình trước và sau khi qua khoá 1. Cho biết những gì trong chương trình có hữu ích hay cần thay đổi.

Sau đó cùng trưởng đặt kế hoạch để làm sau hoàn tất khóa 2 cho hữu hiệu.

Before moving forward, candidate of khóa 1 need to meet a leader to discuss the following:

Give your feelings before and after khóa 1. Give items that you feel are useful or could be improved for khóa 1.

Afterward with the leader, overview khóa 2 and put forward a plan to effectively complete khóa 2.
