Declaration dated 26 May 2004:"... in accordance with Article 6, paragraph 2, of the Convention [...], Romanian authorities who are competent to issue the certificate referred to in the first paragraph of Article 3, are the Appelate Courts for the certificates referred to in Article 1 a, c, d and the Prefectures for the official certificates referred to in Article 1 b." (See for contact details below.)Additional information (15 September 2004)Due to the necessity to continue the activity in the matter until the new competent authorities allowed to apply the apostille are entirely prepared to take over this activity, the notification sent by the Romanian authorities, on 26 May 2004, will be applicable starting with 1 November 2004. Until this term, the apostille will be applied by the Ministry of Justice, for the documents in accordance with art. 1 a), b) and c), respectively the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for the documents in accordance with art 1 b) of the Convention.

Providing Apostille certificates for documents emanating from an authority or an official connected with the courts of tribunals of Romania, including those emanating from a public prosecutor, a clerk of court of a process-server; notarial acts; official certificates which are placed on documents signed by persons in their private capacity, such as official certificates recording the registration of a documents or the fact that it was in existence on a certain date and official and notarial authentications of signatures.

Price:

Prefect Offices: The fee for the apostille certification is 30,000 for the application, plus 220,000 lei per document/apostille. For urgent services an extra fee of 210,000 lei must be paid. For legal entities, the fee for Apostille is 30,000 lei for the application plus 435,000 per document.

Court of Appeals : 7,500 lei for the application, plus 34,000 lei and one judicial stamp of 1,500 lei per document / apostille.?
