1. Higher competition
In today's digital age, businesses increasingly turning to online platforms to market and sell their products. This shift has led to a surge in competition among companies vying for consumer attention and loyalty through innovative online sales techniques. On the other hand, many other sellers may replicate those sales techniques, increasing the competitiveness for their businesses. This intense competition has forced companies to continually refine and adapt their online sales techniques to stand out amidst the crowd. Moreover, the intense competition in online sales techniques can exacerbate price wars among businesses, ultimately leading to a race to the bottom in terms of pricing instead of quality.
2. Technical and security issues
With a huge amount of internet traffic, sellers can use creative sales techniques to attract views and purchases of their products. However, in a sensitive selling environment like TikTok, sellers may encounter security issues such as using inappropriate images, prohibited language, and inaccurate information. This leads to some consequences, ranging from a channel flop, and restricted TikTok accounts, to more serious repercussions such as permanent account suspension. Furthermore, many e-commerce platforms experience downtime or slow loading times due to high traffic volumes or technical glitches, leading to frustration among customers and potential loss of sales.
3. Customers focus on selling instead of buying
The sellers endeavor to use creative, unique, and innovative sales techniques to attract customer interest and product purchases. However, this may cause a reverse response, where instead of focusing on the products being sold, customers are drawn to the selling style of the seller for entertainment purposes. Moreover, some individuals find it amusing; they spam comments and deliberately donate to disrupt the seller's livestream.

1. Lack of personal interaction
One of the most significant drawbacks of online sales techniques is the limited avenues for customers to seek clarification or guidance. The lack of personal interaction inhibits customers' ability to seek immediate assistance when encountering issues or uncertainties during the shopping process. They can face with technical glitches, payment issues, or delivery concerns. When having issues, though customers can ask questions, and seek advice by commenting below the seller's livestream, the sheer volume of comments is overwhelming, and the seller can only respond to questions within limits. Although some websites and apps offer email or chat support, the response time may be delayed, leaving customers waiting for resolution.
2. Difficulty in evaluating and purchasing products
Unlike physical stores where customers touch, feel, and try out products before making a purchase, online shoppers often rely on product descriptions, images, and reviews to make informed purchasing decisions. This can trigger dissatisfaction and disappointment if the product received does not meet customers' expectations based on the online description and images. In addition, the abundance of options can bring about decision paralysis, where customers struggle to choose from the multitude of choices available, ultimately hindering the shopping experience.
3. Customer’s privacy and security
Customers often need to provide personal information such as name, address, contact details, and payment information when making online purchases. There is a risk that this sensitive data may be collected, stored, or even shared without the customer's consent, leading to potential privacy breaches. It is evident when customers receive bothersome calls from unfamiliar numbers or impersonate relatives to deceive. Customers may be targeted by phishing scams or fraudulent websites posing as legitimate online stores. These deceptive techniques aim to trick customers into providing personal information or making payments to malicious actors.
