Procedure for pH-Titration indicated by Bromocresol green
•
2.0** ml of sample solution are given into a suitable beaker
•
the solution is filled up to approx. 100 mL with DI water
•
immediately before titration 100 µL of Bromocresol green indicator solution is added and
•
the solution is titrated with 0.1 M HCl standard solution from blue to yellow.
Calculation:
The volume in ml of 0.1 M hydrochloric acid standard solution***, multiplied by 4.11,
gives the content of
Uniclean 284 in g/l.
The volume in ml of 0.1 M hydrochloric acid standard solution***, multiplied by 0.411, gives the content of
Uniclean 284 in %(v/v).
Example:
During the titration of 2.0 mL sample, 12.94 mL of 0.1 M HCl standard solution*** was used.
Content
Uniclean 284
= 4.11 · 12.94 =
53.2 g/L
Content
Uniclean 284
= 0.411 · 12.94 =
5.3 %
Quality assurance: For maintenance, calibration of measuring devices and the use of
standards and reference materials please refer to the corresponding guidelines.
*
Unless otherwise stated, these are always analytical grade substances.
**
Volumes given exact to a decimal point must be measured with a volumetric pipette.
***
For the purpose of calculation, the factor of the standard solution is assumed to be 1.000 and is
therefore not taken into account in the examples.
