| I.INTRODUCTION
In today's globalized world, it is more important than ever to be able to communicate in multiple languages. However, that does not mean that we should forget about our mother tongue. In fact, there are many good reasons why it is important to know your mother tongue well. Now, I am going to tell several information about mother tongue. Mother tongue refers to the first language learned at home in childhood and still understood by the person at the time the data was collected. If the person no longer understands the first language learned, the mother tongue is the second language learned.It is said that a person’s mother tongue is the best language they will ever learn. This is because it is the language that they first acquire and it is also the language that they are most comfortable with. It has been proven time and time again that people who know their mother tongue well, perform better academically than those who do not.In writing this coursework, I would like to give some information about the importance of the mother tongue in learning other foreign languages. Language learning is a continuous process. That’s why a focus should be given to the learners’ level, age and background and the teachers’ perceptions to teach the language. If the teacher insists on using only the target language in EFL classrooms and ignoring learners’ background, learners may feel to force to use the language and may resent learning. Moreover it slows down the pace of the learners who are willing to learn and use the language. The role of mother tongue has always been an important issue in the study of Foreign Language Teaching. Why do I learn a foreign language while writing this course work? I will give a little information about the existence of our mother tongueIt is a fact that teachers may use the mother tongue in various situation for different purposes. However, the use of L1 should not be exaggerated because the more the students are exposed to the target language, the better they will learn it. In fact, the use of mother tongue may contribute to language learning process in various occasions in the learning-teaching process; however, the exercise use of it may result in too much dependence on it, which less desired outcome. And also it is important for teachers to understand the errors their students make and to target their lessons to each student’s individual needs. The theme of this course work is the use of mother tongue in the classroom. The main goal of this course work is to introduce the use of mother tongue, in the process of teaching lessons. Because it seems boring for the younger generation nowadays. The actuality of the work is to identify the importance of mother tongue in language learning and teaching, it is essential for language teachers to help their pupils become effective learners by adapting to foreign language atmosphere.
