III. The presentation’s strengths and weaknesses

the way they dealt with challenging questions from teachers and classmates were clever and
ingenious, showing a good understanding of their topic.
In terms of the content presented by Group 8, I feel that everything is clear and easy to
understand. As air pollution has been the global heated topic and growing concern of
humanity for many years with many studies and research in environmental science and daily
life, it is not hard to search the sources to build both informative and accurate content. I think
group 8 had selected the most updated and appealing information to introduce to us. As I
have mentioned above, I was impressed by some parts of their presentation and also gained
knowledge from this topic. Thus I think Group 8 did well in both conveying information and
confident presenter demeanor.
The weaknesses
The presentation of Group 8 was quite great, but there are still many downsides that need to
be improved. The first thing I would like to mention is the group's PowerPoint slides.
Although the design is harmonious overall, it seems to be monotonous and not outstanding
enough as I expected. Based on the design knowledge I learned in the Professional Skills 2
course, these slides still have many spaces, which should be avoided in designing slides. In
addition, they also lack the subject name and logos of Bach khoa university, SOFL and
Marjon university on the introduction slide (slide 2) - the basic rule for IPE program when
presenting. Secondly, although most members kept good fluency, they still relied on notes
except for the first presenter. The Q&A part of the second speaker lasted long because she did
not know the skill to deal with tricky questions. She should have interacted and discussed
with the teacher while thinking about the answer rather than leaving the silence for a while. I
feel that this would be more professional, although her answer was still good eventually.
Especially, the approach and distribution of content by Group 8 is not reasonable and
efficient. They did not demonstrate creativity in approaching the content, and only updating
the latest data and information. However, many causes and outcomes are listed without any
in-depth analysis, which makes the listener overwhelmed and may even forget the
information immediately. They also did not introduce a wide range of key terms related to air
pollution to us as I expected, except for the only term “stomata” means “Khí khổng” in
Vietnamese. Moreover, many studies about air pollution provide a lot of data that can be used
as persuasive evidence in the effects part to better emphasize the serious impacts of air
pollution on humankinds’ health and environment. Nevertheless, the group only explained
the ideas on the surface with less specific data. As a listener - the target audience of this
presentation, I hope they can shorten the bad influences of air pollution and focus on
analyzing the selectively main aspects. This will help them have more time to talk about
solutions to abate air pollution. Honestly, I am quite curious about the methods that global
governments and organizations have implemented to reduce air pollution. Unfortunately, they
did not follow the structure - causes - effects - solutions like I thought.
