CKNOWLEDGMENTS
A
ny collaborative project requires a great team working together to bring it to fruition.
I would like to thank all those at Ascension Press who worked so hard on this book. I
would also like to thank my very good friend Jeff Cavins. Working with him on this
project has only served to deepen our friendship, and I thank him for his partnership. I
want to express a special thanks to Dr. Mary Healy, Dr. Peter Williamson, Heather
Akers, Wei Hsien Wan, Sarah Christmyer, and, most
importantly, to my wife, Kris, all
of whom made invaluable contributions in bringing this book to its final form. A final
thank you to my son, Joseph, for his patience in letting me spend time writing and for the
inspiration he gives me to share the plot of Scripture’s story.—
Tim Gray
O
n the evening of my confirmation, May 1st, 1971, I received my first Bible as a gift
from my parents. That is my first recollection of having a desire to learn the Bible. God
has brought
beautiful people into my life, such as Bishop Paul Dudley, who have
continued to help me in my understanding of the Bible and have motivated me to live
and teach its transforming message. Concerning this book, I want to
acknowledge
Matthew Pinto and the entire staff of Ascension Press for their patience and hard work.
I count Dr. Tim Gray as one of the greatest gifts God has given me. His passion for
Scripture and his scholarship are both an inspiration and a model. I also want to
acknowledge Sarah Christmyer for her wisdom and guidance throughout the writing of
this book. In addition, I am deeply thankful for the friendship and scholarly work of Dr.
Mary Healy, Dr. Peter Williamson, Dr. Edward Sri, Thomas Smith, and Dr. Scott Hahn.
Most of all, I am thankful for my wife, Emily, and my three daughters, who are the ones
that are most closely joining me on this quest for heaven.—
Jeff Cavins
