Luke 19:28-40

- Jesus proceeded on his journey up to Jerusalem. As he drew near to Bethphage and Bethany at the place called the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples. He said, “Go into the village opposite you, and as you enter it you will find a colt tethered on which no one has ever sat. Untie it and bring it here. And if anyone should ask you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ You will answer, ‘The Master has need of it.’” So those who had been sent went off and found everything just as he had told them. And as they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, “Why are you untying this colt?” They answered, “The Master has need of it.” So they brought it to Jesus, threw their cloaks over the colt, and helped Jesus to mount. As he rode along, the people were spreading their cloaks on the road; and now as he was approaching the slope of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of his disciples began to praise God aloud with joy for all the mighty deeds they had seen. They proclaimed: “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord. Peace in heaven and glory in the highest.” Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.” He said in reply, “I tell you, if they keep silent, the stones will cry out!”

- Bài Tin mừng hôm nay thuật lại việc Chúa Giêsu vào thành Giêrusalem một cách long trọng. Ngài ngồi trên lưng một con lừa con và được dân chúng hoan hô. Họ trải áo trên lối đi và cầm những cành lá trên tay để tiếp đón Ngài. Ngài ngồi trên lưng một con lừa chớ không ngồi trên lưng ngựa. Điều nầy nói lên sự khiêm tốn của một vị vua luôn tuân phục Thiên Chúa và sẵn sàng chịu đựng đau khổ theo thánh ý Chúa Cha.

- Today’s Gospel relates to when Jesus entered Jerusalem gloriously with many people praising and cheering him as he rode on a colt. They spread their cloaks on the road and raised their palms to welcome Him. Jesus rode on a colt instead of a big horse like everyone else to emphasize the humility of a King who always follows and obeys God and is ready to take on the suffering according the Father’s will.

1- Tại sao Chúa Giêsu lại chọn một con lừa con, chưa ai cỡi để vào thành Giêrusalem?

2- Hôm nay chúng ta cầm cành lá tung hô Chúa Giêsu. Vậy chúng ta coi Ngài là ai và mong đợi gì nơi Ngài?

Reflection:

1- Why did Jesus choose to ride a colt into Jerusalem, something that no one had ever done?

2- Today we hold the palms and praise Jesus. So who do we see Him as and what do we expect from Him?

Thực Hành:

- Cố gắng bỏ tính kiêu căng, hách dịch trong nhà, nơi làm việc và trong giáo xứ.

- Try to get rid of being obnoxious, revolting, and repugnant at home, at work, and at your parishes.

- Lạy Chúa, dân chúng tung hô Chúa hôm nay, nhưng ngày mai họ lại kết án Chúa trên thập giá. Xin Chúa giúp chúng con đừng bắt chước họ mà sẵn sàng đón nhận mọi đau thương khổ cực của cuộc sống trong tâm tình của một người con Chúa biết tuân phục và làm theo thánh ý Ngài. Amen.
