    1. Design Capacity of WWTPs

      1. Evaluation


The design capacity is key criteria and considered as one of three statistical indicators of construction sector in the field of wastewater treatment.

  1. Utility Individual Design Capacity

The design capacities of WWTPs of 13 utilities participating the database are presented in the Annex 6.4 and figure below.

As results, some comments are presented below:

  • The capacities of the utilities participating the database range from 7,400 to 171,000 m3/ day.

  • Majority of utilities (75% of the three lower quartile groups) with a capacity of less than 17,000 m3/day.

  1. Combined Capacity in 2014

For calculation of capacity 2014 of the country, the Consultant has reviewed the capacity of each station and carried out the following steps:

  • Correct some data based on the disclosure reports on the utility’s own source.

  • Supplement the missing data because 02 utilities did not provide data, namely:

  • SFC is in charge of operation of Yen So WWT Station with capacity of 200,000 m3/day – country’s largest in 2014.

  • Vinh Urban Infrastructure Management and Development JSC in charge of Vinh WWT Station with capacity of 25,000 m3/day.

Results are shown in Table 7.1 and total design capacity of WWTPs in 2014 is estimated at 708,000 m3/day.

      1. Recommendation C1:


  • Annual participation of the utilities in the sewerage database is essential. To ensure the utility’s participation, it is necessary to issue the provisions in the current legal documents (as Decree No. 80/2014 of the Government on drainage and wastewater treatment);

  • Specified provisions in the O&M contract (including WWTPs) that signed between the Employer and the Utilities that assigned to manage and operate of sewerage system for annually data reporting as mandatory regulation prescribed by the Ministry of Construction.
