A Student at the High School for the Gifted Vietnamese Transcript: Người được phỏng vấn: Trường cấp ba của mình là trường Phổ Thông Năng Khiếu. Thực sự là mình rất rất thích ngôi trường này. Bởi vì khác với những trường cấp ba ở Việt Nam, tức là những trường cấp ba ở Việt Nam thì rất quy củ, rất nhiều quy tắc, rất là nhiều luật lệ. Chẳng hạn như là bạn phải mặc áo dài các ngày trong tuần, đối với con gái. Người phỏng vấn: Áo dài là áo truyền thống của Việt Nam. Người được phỏng vấn: Chính xác. Hoặc là bạn không được đi trễ, không được nghỉ học, tức là rất nhiều quy tắc kỉ luật. Tuy trường Năng Khiếu không phải là lỏng lẻo về kỉ luật, nhưng trường Năng Khiếu tạo điều kiện cho bạn có được một sự tự do nhất định, không có quá nhiều quy tắc, quy củ, cho bạn một sự tự do nhưng trường cũng rất chú trọng về việc học. Tuy có tự do nhưng những học sinh rất chăm lo việc học. Giáo viên trong trường mà mình có ấn tượng cực kì sâu sắc đó là thầy Mai Phú Thanh. Thầy là thầy giáo dạy môn Địa, nhưng thầy có một vốn kiến thức cực kì sâu rộng. Cái hôm đầu tiên mà thầy vô lớp, thầy đã làm cho cả lớp mình cực kì ấn tượng bởi vì cách nói chuyện thông minh, sắc sảo, mà kiến thức thì vô cùng rộng của thầy. Bất kì lĩnh vực nào thầy đều biết và thầy có một vốn kiến thức sâu rộng về nó. Nên là khi thầy nói về vấn đề đó thì cả lớp rất là phục. Thì mình cảm thấy là mình rất may mắn khi được học một người thầy uyên bác như vậy. English Translation: Interviewee: My high school is the High School for the Gifted. I love this school very much. It is unlike other high schools in Vietnam which impose a lot of rules on their students. For example, in those schools, girls have to wear ao dai to school on weekdays. Interviewer: Ao dai is the Vietnamese traditional dress. Interviewee: Exactly. Or you can’t go to school late, or take a day off without permission; there are so many rules. Though the High School for the Gifted is not yielding, it gives us a certain freedom. However, it is strict about studying. Though the students have freedom, they pay enormous attention to studying. The teacher who has left the strongest impression on me is Mai Phu Thanh. He taught me geography, and he had a very wide range of knowledge. On the first day he entered the classroom, he awed all the students with his smart, sharp-witted and knowledgeable way of talking. He knew about anything in any field, and knew a lot about it. So our class respected him so much. Therefore I felt so lucky to be taught by such an erudite teacher.
