Whatever your child’s progress, you can make a positive difference in working with your child to encourage them to do even better. If your child doesn’t know his/her math facts for example: buy some flash cards and find some time to help your child memorize their facts! If he/she is having difficulty reading: spend some time reading with them or listening to them read. Ask questions about what’s been read and talk about it. Encourage your child’s imagination and awareness of the world around them so that they will be more curious and excited about learning. Talk to your child about their goals and what they want to be when they grow up. Help them understand that everyday they will learn things that will help them achieve their goals! Research shows that students do best when their parents are interested and involved in their daily education. Your enthusiasm is a powerful thing. Please become partners with the staff at Vinci Park because we want our students to excel and with your help, they will!
Don’t forget to volunteer at Vinci Park! Mrs. Izant's "Fifteen Hour Challenge" I challenge the parents of each Vinci Park student to volunteer in our school for 15 hours. Ask your child’s teacher how you can help, or e-mail me at jeanne.izant@berryessa.k12.ca.us. DECEMBER EVENTS SECOND HARVEST FOOD DRIVE! Our holiday food drive begins Monday, 12/3. Let’s help make the holidays special for everyone. 
********************************************************* MINIMUM DAY—Friday, December 21st In order to give everyone a head start on their holidays, we will be having an early day on Dec. 21st. This means all Kindergarten children will attend school from 8:10-12:10 that day and everyone else can be picked-up at 1:00 PM promptly. *************************************************************** 
HAPPY HOLIDAYS! School will be closed from Monday, December 24th through Friday, January 4th. We start up again at 8:10 on Monday, January 7th. Have a wonderful vacation!! Get Health Insurance FREE/minimal cost (based on household income) for ALL of your Kids who can not afford medical insurance. 3 Insurance Plans are available: Medi-Cal, Healthy Families, and Healthy Kids. To enroll: Please call--Herman Garcia at 220-5658 (English, Spanish and other languages) and/or Thong Le 355-3370 (English & Vietnamese). These coordinators will also help with application assistance and assist with transportation issues. Please call them today! MONTHLY EVENTS AT VINCI PARK Principal’s Coffee— Please come and have coffee with the principal, Mrs. Izant, at 8:30 AM on the first Friday of each month. This is a great way to discuss any ideas, problems, or questions you may have about the school. Home and School Club Meetings--The first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 PM in the Multi-Purpose Room. School Site Council Meetings—Third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 PM in the Staff Lounge. Please get your children to school on time each morning. Children who arrive late disrupt the entire class and take teaching time away from the other students while the teacher revises both the attendance and lunch records. School is out at 2:35, except on Thursdays when we are out at 1:00. We provide supervision for 10 minutes after school each day. Be sure your child is picked up by then, so he/she is not left unsupervised. Please arrange your schedules with your children’s welfare in mind. ********************************************************************* WHEN YOUR CHILD IS ABSENT EVERY time your child is absent please call the school at 923-1970 to let us know why. You can call at any time and leave a message stating your child’s first and last name, the teacher, and the reason for the absence. If you receive a call from the school asking where your child is, please call us back immediately with the reason. If you don’t call, your child’s absence will be unexcused and will go on his/her school record.

BOLETIN MENSUAL: Diciembre 2007 y Enero 2008 1. Tendremos día mínimo el 21 de diciembre. Por favor recuerde que todos los niños de kindergarten vendrán ese día de las 8:10 a las 12:10. Todos los demás estudiantes saldrán a la 1:00 PM. 2. No habrá escuela del 24 de diciembre al 4 de enero. Todas las escuelas de Berryessa estarán cerradas por vacaciones de invierno.
