e.g.
1. A bad beginning makes a good ending.
2. It is the first step that costs.
3.
My neighbors are steaming about the
noisy late-night flights.
1. Đầu xuôi, đuôi lọt.
(A good beginning makes a good
ending.)
2. Vạn sự khởi đầu nan. (The first
step is always the hardest)
3. Đầu tao đang bốc khối đây. (My
head is steaming right now.)
In example (1), English concepts that the first is bad, then the end will be good while
Vietnamese believes that the first must be good, then the end is good, too.
However, in (2) both English and Vietnamese has nearly the same conception that
everything firstly is always difficult, then if we try our best, we will easily succeed later.
In (3) there is a similar way in using
“steaming” when someone feels so angry.
