Description of content: The low-voltage three-phase induction motors have been subject to mandatory inspection under the Commodity Inspection Act by the Bureau of Standards Metrology and Inspection (BSMI) since 20 May 1974. The BSMI will adopt the revised standard CNS 14400 “Low-voltage three-phase squirrel-cage high-efficiency induction motors (For general purpose)” (promulgated on 26 March 2012) and CNS 1056 “Low-voltage three-phase induction motors” (promulgated on 10 August 2011) as new testing and inspection standards, instead of the current CNS 14400 (promulgated on 9 September 2003) and CNS 1056 (promulgated on 31 August 1999). The low-voltage three-phase induction motors covered in the inspection scope must comply with the revised CNS 14400 or CNS 1056 (class A insulation) when imported or placed on the market after 1 January 2015.
