2. TAO IS PATH OF RETURN TO ORIGINa) Individual: From the monism to duality, the spirit of Universe’s Lord is divided into tiny subjects to create all living beings and to recommend the His own life power to the different bodies everywhere. “All living beings having life are born by MY SOUL, if there the life, there is ME surely”. Or we say by other aspect “The life is Master” [Divine Messages Collection, teaching 1928] However, in the duality stage, the life and death are continuous stages with the relative meaning. The conception of life is compared with something called as death. The conception of death is compared with something called as life. Over the duality world, we find that the life and death are just circulation of God’s spirit changing from this physical body to another physical body. It is same to the water in fields to nourish trees and it sometimes runs to river in order to nourish fishes,…sometimes joins in ocean, sometimes evaporates to become cloud and rain, sometimes stays in human’s physical body at the blood status, sometimes becomes perspiration and urine. That water is the water, however it has been spending many times of variant as the God’s spirit divided into innumerable lives of all living beings with the circulation forms of life and death, however the life never disappears. The return path from the all living beings to the God or ego of each individual combined with the Universe’s Brahman is also called as the Tao. That is the return path to the origin that ancient religionists always use that word. The return to the primitive origin or union between God and human or all living beings and supreme being is also called as the Tao by the Caodai disciples. The Caodai doctrine expresses that each individual has three most precious treasures, which are physical body, ether and spirit [Tinh, Khí, Thần]. Whenever those three treasures are combined together, the religionist gets success, it means that he returns to the Supreme Being’s great spirit in unlimited transformation miracle. “Why do you kowtow Angel, Saint with three kowtows?
To the union of communities including many beings, the Tao is the path to the primitive source. It is pointed out and revealed in front of everybody to step on the path and to go ahead. It is same a travel company following another in walk and there are people reaching the destination firstly, other people reaching later or there are people who collapse on the path that it is up to the their own steps. The Way or Tao gets the objective nature as a mean for human. With that meaning, we find that the word of Tao is used to hint the religious organizations, belief forms, religious doctrines. The Tao is revealed to help people to live in according with the creation principle of God from the one creating all things and all things returning to the origin. “I opened Eight Diagrams to found the Universe, so it is called as Dharma, Dharma exists to bear Universe and living beings and then there are humans, called Samgha.
Certainly, this word of “Tao” hints to the meaning of “all things return to origin”. It means that it is a half cycle of evolution because the teaching expresses clearly: “found religions to restore you in order to get union with ME” “The Tao is the path to help Saint, Fairy, Buddha who are banished follow it to be able to return the old position. The Tao is the path for humane ranks to help them follow and avoid the samsara. If there is no Tao, those hierarchies may lose their path and loose the positions” [Divine Messages Collection, teaching in 1926] This paragraph expresses clearer that the Way is the return path to old throne, which is the original source. The Way is improvement method or formula for people who reply on it to find the neither born nor ended essential at the happenings with birth and death on this earth that we often call it in short way “avoid the samsara”. 3) Way is society morality conceptionsThe definition of “You are Master, Master/I am you” under the humanity view, the God is the community of all living beings. Consequently, the majority will of people on the earth is the Supreme Being’s will. The continuous efforts of generations trending to the good standards to affect the people’s life gradually create conceptions to society morality that is called as “Way”. That is the objective reasons stimulated by society with nature of variability due to the time and space. The Caodai doctrine keeps the Supreme Being’s teaching about a meaning of Tao, which is same to the society morality: “It is up to mankind’s manners to build Principal Religion because formerly Humankind did not know Heaven and Earth, mankind just practiced their religion in their ranges only.
Via the research about custom and sociology, we find clearly that “This section of Pyrenees is the truth while the other opposite section of Pyrenees is falsity”. Moreover, the right in life of couple as the morality of husband and wife is also changed due to the time and space. At this area, it may be immoral toward society ethics if a boy gets married with his blood aunt’s girl while it is naturally accepted in other area such as China. In conclusion, the Tao in the Caodai doctrine is used to express: - The universal forming principle or origin creating all things. - The return to the origin of individual’s life. - The theory and organization method to help people community trend to the original source. - The society ethics pointed out with guidance nature for people life to obtain higher values compared with other creatures.
