- Bệnh viện là cơ sở y tế được tổ chức tương đối hoàn chỉnh với quy mô như: Có các chuyên khoa, có phòng mổ, có phòng xét nghiệm, có các phương tiện phục vụ cho việc chẩn đoán bệnh, có đội ngũ cán bộ y tế gồm các bác sĩ, y sĩ, y tá... Bệnh viện có chức năng chăm sóc sức khoẻ nhân dân, khám chữa bệnh nội, ngoại trú; phòng bệnh, giáo dục sức khoẻ; nghiên cứu đào tạo cán bộ. Bệnh viện được Bộ Y tế quyết định công nhận và phân theo cấp quản lý như bệnh viện tỉnh, bệnh viện quận, huyện, thị xã. Bệnh viện có thể là bệnh viện đa khoa hoặc bệnh viện chuyên khoa.

- Bệnh viện điều dưỡng và phục hồi chức năng là cơ sở y tế có chức năng tiếp nhận những người ốm yếu, hoặc sau khi điều trị bệnh cần được bồi dưỡng, nghỉ ngơi để tăng thêm sức khoẻ hoặc phục hồi chức năng cho các bộ phận của cơ thể.

- Phòng khám đa khoa khu vực là cơ sở y tế có chức năng khám chữa bệnh cho cán bộ, nhân dân ở cơ sở thuộc tuyến quận, huyện, thị xã hoặc một cụm xã, phường.

- Trạm y tế xã, phường, thị trấn là cơ sở y tế, là tuyến đầu tiên thực hiện các hoạt động khám, chữa bệnh, ghi chép và chăm sóc sức khoẻ như phát hiện và báo cáo kịp thời các bệnh dịch lên tuyến trên, tổ chức sơ cứu, chăm sóc sức khoẻ ban đầu, đỡ đẻ, bảo vệ và chăm sóc sức khoẻ bà mẹ, trẻ em và kế hoạch hoá gia đình, xây dựng tủ thuốc, hướng dẫn sử dụng thuốc an toàn, hợp lý, phục vụ nhân dân trong phạm vi một xã, phường, thị trấn.

- Trạm y tế cơ sở y tế hành chính sự nghiệp là cơ sở y tế có chức năng khám, chữa bệnh, phát thuốc cho cán bộ công nhân viên trong phạm vi đơn vị công tác.

- Các cơ sở y tế khác là cơ sở y tế ngoài các cơ sở y tế đã kể trên, như trạm lao, trạm da liễu, trạm mắt, khu điều trị phong, nhà hộ sinh,…

Giường bệnh là giường chuyên dùng cho người bệnh ở các cơ sở y tế, không bao gồm giường trực, giường phòng khám, giường phòng đợi thuộc các cơ sở y tế này.

EDUCATION

Kindergarten school is an educational unit of the pre-primary system, admitting children from 3 to 6 years old to take care of and educate. It gives them preparation to enter the primary school.

Primary school is an educational unit of primary level, comprising classes from grade 1 to grade 5.

High school is an educational unit of the secondary level, the following of the primary system in the national education. Its purpose is to complete secondary knowledge. Secondary school is categorized: (1) Lower secondary school from grade 6 to grade 9; (2) Upper secondary school from grade 10 to grade 12.

Besides, there are two kinds of grade school in Vietnam as follows:

(1) Basic general school is the combination of primary school with lower secondary school, from grade 1 to grade 9.

(2) High school is the combination of lower secondary school and upper secondary school from grade 6 to grade 12.

- Hospital is a health establishment with the coverage: having specialities, surgeon rooms, testing room, equipment for disease diagnosis, health staff like doctors, assistant physicians, nurses, etc. Its functions are to take care of people's health, examine and treat in-patients and out-patients, disease prevention, educate health for people, study and train staff. Hospital must be recognized by the Ministry of Health and is divided by management levels such as provincial hospital, district hospital or town hospital. Hospital may be polyclinic or speciality one.

- Sanatorium and rehabilitation hospital is a health establishment receiving those with bad health or need to take a rest after treatment to be better or rehabilitate their body organs.

- Regional polyclinic is a health establishment to examine and treat people and staff in the district, town or a group of communes or precincts.

- Medical service unit in commune, precinct, and town, is a health organization for people in the commune, precinct, and town.

It is the first place to examine, treat and take care of patients, such as discovering and reporting epidemic diseases to the upper level, giving first aid, helping birth delivery, taking care of mothers and children, implementing family planning, establishing medicine chest, instructing how to use medicine, etc.

- Medical service unit in offices, enterprises is a health establishment giving examination, treatment and medicine to the staff of the offices or enterprises.

- Other health units are the health estsblishments, such as tuberculosis, dermatologu and venereology, vision testing units, leprosy treatment center, antenatal clinic.
